Hi Guys - I don't want to be a firestarter (although I love the song) ...

My post wasn't about Dom per se, but about the deep emotion that seems to arise in BKK sites (here and other forums) - and I mean not only the flames/spats - also the insights many posters give into life as a monger in BKK - like I said - a fascinating read as an outsider. More interesting than Private Dancer.

(Having said that - Dom has coincidentally re-emerged in his Phillipines thread).

    cheers

    1ball,

    yep, agreed.

Just wonder why some people now feel the need to express their deep grief about our "big loss".
He did so much harm to the forum and put it into turmoil for over two years which definitely makes up for all the good posts he might have had in the past.

What do you guys miss, that he felt superior to everybody and everything, his constant rantings against everybody, even the Royal family, monks, Buddhism and so on ?

Skinless is gone for good a long time ago.
Domino was just a pain in the ...

Having the last two years in mind I am quite certain that the forum is better off without him. I guess the last few peaceful months prove that. He was the common denominator in almost all fights that took place.

Let's keep him buried, no need for an exhumation.

    Over and out ...

    terry,

    thanks for your "kind" words

but why is that typical german ? sounds like a "prejudice" to me or should i understand it as an acclamation ?
but hey, krauts do have similar prejudices about tommies from that small island :d

i believe that an opinion is an opinion, nothing more, nothing less. it should be expressed open and clearly to avoid misunderstandings and to state your point of view. i doesn't make sense to me to beat around the bush.

i never understood why people can't have a discussion about a given topic without emotions. a discussion isn't a personal attack but only the exchange of different opinions. i am always interested in what other people think, maybe i am wrong and can learn from them, who knows ? there is always somebody who knows more than yourself. so i listen carefully and evaluate my own point of view to the one of my opponent (or better dialogue partner).

and why should i lie about myself just because others might interpret it as arrogance or bragging. i call it being honest. if anybody thinks of it as something negative he should ask himself why he thinks so ? maybe this person is just jealous. if that's the case, he should be blamed, not me. i never compare myself to others or compare them to me, why should i ? if anybody got more money than me, is smarter than me or has a bigger dick, i just don't care. therefore i am never jealous on anybody, i rather applaude them for what they have achieved.

furthermore, a few members already confirmed several things i have said, so i wasn't bragging but just saying how it is. why is that wrong ?

    Joe Zop,

I thought if I should post anything regarding that issue and that person as I enjoy the peace in the forum since Skinless aka Domino and his few fans stopped posting. But since you guys still feel the need to comment about it, here my 2 cents.

I agree that Domino aka Skinless had a good attitude in the past (e.g. as our beloved Reverend John T. Skinless), before he went nuts and started a personal war for his very own stupid little reasons - namely as a retaliation for an innocent joke I made about him and Freeler (at least that's what I think). The timing and the fact that he ignored all those who admitted to give shit about the issue and that they will fuck any prostitute which comes their way, no matter what, speaks for itself.

Therefore I disagree that "his feeling was that this was a battle for the soul and future of WSG". He was the one who ruined the "soul and future" of the WSG by his insane behaviour- at least in the Thai section and as he lost his audience went on to other sections to spit his poison there. It was a battle which only served his ego because I didn't duck down like most others he attacked before and after. He didn't care about the issue itself, he was just looking for a reason to attack me and to kill my reputation.

My posted pics prove that I am not what he called me and there are enough members at the board who have actually met me and saw the girls I picked. But he ignored all of that. He also ignored that even if you check IDs you might be fooled. He was very dishonest about it and never questioned his own behaviour as you rightfully said. In the end it makes no difference if you follow his and Freeler's NO ID NO GO or not, if you hunt girls in the danger zone then shit might happen.

I have attached a photo that proves what I have said so many times. NO ID NO GO isn't foolproof. I hope those who stupidly only repeated that crap might think about their approach and the "crimes they probably have comitted" and use more efficient technics to find out about the girls age.

I found that girl at a bar, she looked like a 19yr old to me (fully developed body, face, behaviour and so on) and could provide an ID which "proved" that she is indeed 21yrs old. But during our conversation - in which I asked about school, what she did since she left school and how long she was working at the bar - I did my math and told her that she can't be older than 17yr. She finally admitted it and provided her real ID. As you can see both IDs look real - note the hologram on the faked one. She told me - just like other girls did before - that the bar owners urge them to lie about their age and even provide faked IDs for them.

Do I have to say more ?

In short, I don't miss Domino at all. He was a dishonest guy who only served his ego and couldn't stand or accept an opinion that differs from his own.

    Domino's Abode

    Piper 1

I surmised from his posts that Domino-aka-Skinless is a resident of Tokyo. That fact, in of itself, could explain the nature of his character. Anything is liable to happen if you have lived for too long a time in that concrete,steel,electrical-lines-exposed-everywhere rathole.

    Outsider's view

Having spent more time than I should reading many of the posts to and from Domino and the 3-4 others involved in the spats, I can say it was a fascinating read, and sometimes heavy stuff. It really does read like a good psychological novel - conflict, love, betrayal, humor, wisdom, anger, guilt, jealousy, silliness, crisis, depression, friendship, hate, violence, psychosis, neurosis, self-pity, pathos and pettiness.

Oh, and a little bit of sex thrown in.

What is it about staying in BKK too long that brings out such emotion? Is it really such a "Heart of Darkness" trip as it seems?

Poster's Parting Thoughts Concerning The End Of An Era

    2. It's also apparent, given the statically insignificant number of Forum Members who voted to quarantine the other five members in the poll, that the Forum Members who voted for the last two options (Quarantine Everybody / Don't Quarantine Anyone) really didn't do what participating in the poll required, which was to actually read the Forum contributions made by all the poll subjects and then make an objective decision as to who was actually causing the problems.
Jackson posted the above quote (to my dismay) after the "Serial Antagonist Poll" was completed. I have followed and have read the postings of all the members of the Thai forum since November 2002, at minimum. I found it a bit disconcerting for Jackson to point his finger at those who thought it best not to quarantine anyone (as I did).

I simply quit worrying about D's posts, although I read them for their literary value. Even at his lowest point, D's posts were almost always a stimulating read. I'd go as far as saying that a person could learn something from all of D's posts, even if that "thing" was nothing more than a lesson on "when" a person is to be "pitied."

After D's demise, I have seen little that has changed on this board. While it is true that there are fewer mindless arguments now than in the past, the same "serial antagonist" tendencies are still evident in certain members. They are the ones that can't finish a debate unless they believe they've had the last word, or in essence, unless they think they have won.

D also had this same problem and it is a pity, because his non-confrontational postings were some of the best this board has ever seen. It is also a pity that he had (or seemed to have had) a breakdown. I noticed this as did Terry Terrier.

Now that I have mentioned my grievance with Jackson's comment about my vote and now that I have said a positive word or two about Mr. D., I feel that I have come to terms with all matters pertaining to this saddening episode on ISG.

I will walk away from this topic (forever) feeling that I possess full and agreeable closure.

    RIP,

i started reading this board as a lurker at the outset of the, um, ahem, 'traveler & skinless discussions'. i was astonished by the ferocity of the exchanges, and i read back (rtff) through the history of both posters. it became obvious to me that the traveler has some typically german characteristics : bluntness with his opinions and no fear of 'blowing his own trumpet', easily (but wrongly) interpreted as arrogance by others. and he is clearly not a ****. skinless' posts, when on-topic, were so urbane, witty and so very humane, but they flagged up as clear an obsessive/compulsive disorder as one will ever see. i could only come to the conclusion that this was one helluva personality clash.

initially, i considered the 'discussions' to be none of my business. but it became apparent that they were consuming skinless (under his new presence as 'domino'). so much so, that the concept of a discussion forum had become alien to him. discussions about punting/mongering were small talk, except when they were his talk, etc. his posts became more and more eccentric, more and more off-topic, and only redeemed on occasion by his superb wit.

i fear he suffered some sort of mental breakdown online. but it was intolerable to me to see him do so in such an aggressive way, and to see him try to trash the rep of one poster in particular who has made himself freely available (often in person), to help and advise other forum members.

domino/skinless will very likely be back (if he is not already). i hope that, in his latest cyber presence, he will be physically and mentally well and will post in the spirit that our great leader jackson requests.

Well, considering that eulogies generally are filled with nothing but praise for the departed, whereas an elegy is essentially a lament or expression of mourning and can contain both the good and the bad, I figured the latter was regrettably more accurate.

  11. #34

    Words can hurt

When I first read "Elegy" I thought: "Man, JZ is losing it. Blowing the spelling of eulogy like that". Then I thought: "Wait...better check". So chaulk up two additions to my vocabulary courtesy of the missing one.

Denouement (which comes from French) is the end part of a story, generally a drama, that comes after the climactic scene. Essentially, the final outcome of a complicated series of events, not generally the "big" event but the falling action. In westerns, it's where the hero rides off into the sunset after the big shootout; in a lot of tragedies the main character dies, and so on.

Do you mean personal best in that it only took three words for me to have you scratching your head? Hmm, now I've got something to shoot for!

    Joe,

    Third word: 'denouement'

    A personal best, I presume?

It's good to be back, what?

    Elegy for Skinless

Since the denouement of this sad tale took place during my absence from the forum, I would simply like to express my utter sorrow that everything came down as it apparently has, with Skinless/Domino completely persona non grata and apparently moved on, and the board unfortunately sadly better for it.

It was in fact the posts of Skinless, eloquently arguing against the utter and repetitive misogyny of Bobo, *****, *****, et al, that convinced me to post on WSG in the first place many many moons ago, and I had many truly excellent and illuminating exchanges with him and others. (It is naturally beyond ironic that I now get along better with Z than with him.) I credit both Skinless and Freeler for imparting in me a better sense of exploration during my last trip, when I visited places like Trang and Phitsanulok that I'd given a pass on previous visits, and I know the forum is truly the lesser for not getting their cogent reporting of far-flung places.

That said, I certainly recognize that his behavior and tone in the forum sadly and radically changed over the past couple of years, going from an encouraging voice to embodying the same belittling tone he used to gently and amusingly poke against, of late whacking repeatedly at anyone and everyone who even slightly disagreed with him, myself included, where before he would have tried to disarm and seduce with droll humor.

We used to jokingly call his excursions into the hinterlands his "HOD" or Heart of Darkness tours, and I truly regret that what he apparently found was indeed so much darkness, as I love and miss not only the playfulness but more importantly the essential warmth of his earlier postings, when there was much compassion about the BB or "Big-Breasted One" he spent much time and hopeless affection with, recognizing the folly and hopelessness but still allowing himself to participate. Participation in a tragedy requires empathy for victim and exploiter alike, and Skiness had the ability to understand that both punters and sex workers alike constantly played both roles.

This sense of duality, this openness to the irony inherent everywhere in the Thai sex scene, was an essential part of what made Skinless such a great commentator. The loss of this and the move not only to black-and-white but to a "for me or against me" perspective, is what made him an utter pest and intolerable disruption.

At the very beginning of the dustup with Traveler, he sought to enlist me in the battle, as his feeling was that this was a battle for the soul and future of WSG. I confess I did not realize the depth of his conviction and obsession with this, but I warned him from the start, in saying I would not join in, that it would end up solving nothing, obscure any possibility of cogent discussion around these issues, and most likely tear the board apart.

I am very sad that I was proved correct on all counts, and even moreso that he soon after took my attempt to make a fine point (the concept that a punter who goes after younger women of 18 or 19 ends up being generally at greater risk of being fooled, that this was something worth adult discussion, and that he had in fact been in that place himself -- not at all implying he'd been fooled, simply that he'd visited this issue personally -- with his BB One, who was 19 when he was with her) as a personal attack on him, when I was in fact trying to steer the discussion away from personal attack into a larger discussion of what all punters face.

So I simply want to place this here as a memorial for the Skinless I loved conversing with, sharing ideas and enthusiasms -- the guy who put together the FAQ with the idea that it would increase the general level of postings in the Thai section by cutting down on the repetitive questions and that by having all that info in a single place more folks would be encouraged to explore off the beaten track. I do not miss the later incarnations of Domino, whose endless goadings, attacks, and shrill insistence that everyone think the same as he, was divisive and controlling. That guy had little in common with his predecessor, beyond a quick and inventive wit, because he lacked empathy and the ability to forgive. The Skinless who made me want to post in the forum wasn't someone who filtered everything and everyone through a single litmus test of agreement or disagreement, and I miss that guy.

C'est la vie. Somewhere, a mermaid weeps.
