i must respectfully disagree with you on the matter of police activity. i think that ideally the police are out to get the bad guys, however in tj i have personally had drugs planted on me by the police, and an accomplice. i have had them search me on 3 different occasions for no reason, just speed up in the van and yell hey you. i do not drink, i have never been in a fight, i am respectfull-this considering that i am mongering, i keep a low profile, and i don't dress like a "gangster". i am an average looking clean cut guy.

mexican police use there position to make money. they make a large piece of their salaries by extorting it from tourist. yes, one can say "no", and insist on seeing a judge, but how often does that actually work. in addition, in the case of the police all of a sudden finding drugs at your feet on the ground, what is the watch command going to say? are they just going to side with the tourist? i am not the only one that has been in this situation in tj. they are all in it together. i do not believe there is an honest cop in the whole city, especially in the zona. corruption in mexico is a way of life.

any tourist that feels that they are above or beyond the possibility of police harassment in tj must be very well connected in tj. if you are not, then the likelihood of you being in the possession of any sort of drug, be it beyer aspirin or any other kind of drug and not encountering some sort of problem is slim.

any monger that reads this board should error on the side of caution in mexico, do not be a cowboy, it is not your range.

I hopped a cab back to the border the other night and there were two young cops waiting right at the taxi drop off. They were both very polite, cordial, and spoke good english (continued to speak english even after I answered all their questions in spanish). They asked me to empty my pockets of everything and one of them patted me down. I had my left over cash in my front pocket, took it out, stacked it with my wallet and car keys on top of a garbage can and neither one touched it or asked for any of it. It seems they may be feeling the heat from the gov't for fucking with tourists. I think they were looking for prescription drugs so if you're going to be a dumbass and try to get some out of TJ, best put it in your shoe.

The reason that nobody speaks about the Purple Rain is because you can get better quality ladies for less at Adelitas, Chicago, Tropical, and in the alley. The one square block around Adelitas is fairly safe.

Yes, you can walk in the alley with few problems.

The alley is not dark, it is well lit, and there are normally lots of other American mongers, and people wandering around also. As was mentioned by another of the previous posters, the police, and the drug dealers are to be avoided. You will be able to see the people to avoid.

Just a heads up, if you see a patty wagon parked or on the move go inside one of the clubs and have a drink. The boys with a badge are normally doing their shake downs when you see the van out on the move. Also, you may not posses Viagra without a perscription from a Mexican doctor, so if you buy some, make sure that you take it before leaving the pharmacia.

It is not illegal to possess medication to treat erectile dysfunction without a prescription in Mexico. Viagra is NOT ON THE LIST OF CONTROLLED MEDICATIONS in Mexico. The cops have no legal right to hassle you. It is a problem bringing it back to the USA without a prescription.

All too often unwary gringos are heated up because they have medication for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. They had over the meds and pay a "fine" to the cop (mordita). It is not necessary to do this my friends. So stop doing it. And stop worrying about it.

The raids are to round up the rateros in the street. The druggies and robbers and criminals. The bad girls and boys who rip mongers off etc. The raids are not designed to get the gringos. Quite the contrary. If you are trolling the Zona and are MOVING ALONG you will not get stopped unless you dress like a gangster and behave like an asshole.

The Zona is there for YOU. Enjoy but don't be stoopid and don't be intimidated because you have medication for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, a substance that IS NOT ON THE LIST OF CONTROLLED MEDICATIONS in Mexico, and for which a prescription is NOT REQUIRED

So I must tell everyone in this forum thank you for helping a guy out from Texas. I just got back a few hours ago from TJ, Aditats. And all I can say is WOW! I walk in and it's PACKED, there are probably about 40 girls in there.

I buy about three girls drinks to figure out who I want to take up, great move on my part because you can tell alot from just talking for a few min's. I am assuming you mean legit massage. If not, then I made a post earlier this month that points out some of the better "extras" massage parlors in the zona.

For legit massage there are two really good choices.

1. Aztec Massage

On 2nd street, just south of the Tijuana Arch on 2nd street. 100 paces West of Revolucion.

2. VivaMex Day Spa

On Revolucion, between 3rd and 4th street

Both are less than a half mile away from the Zona Norte. IIRC, a 1hr massage is in the $35 range, and has always been very good for me. These places are legit, and offer no extras.

Tijuana is relatively safe if you stay on the beaten path. That path would be Calle Coahuila between Ninos Heros and Constitucion (the street that Adelitas is on), Constitucion between Articulo 123 and Calle Coahuila (and a little bit far north to Chicago Club), and Callejon Coahuila (the alley). I posted a map in December 2005 if you need to see the streets in context.

Anywhere else in the zona and you increase your risk. I have never had any problems (other than the rare policia run-ins, all uneventful) and I venture out much futher than mentioned above.

If you are a more cautious person then I am, then don't go anywhere that is not well lit, or where you don't see many other Americanos.

I agree with Double. The massage parlors in TJ are not worth what you are paying for. You end up paying 100 to 150 dollars for the same service you get for 60 dollars in Adelitas. The girls in Purple Rain do not know how to massage and too lazy to do it for you, even their FS skills are not that great. I did a couple of them and decided never to go back again. They might look nice downstairs but once you are up there with them, they are hard negotiators to get you pay 120 dollars. That is already 160 dollars with the 40 up front.

Stay away from Purple Rain! And do not walk back to Adelitas from Purple Rain at night, that street is dangerous. A lot of drug dealers and even worse, he Policia. I got shaken down by the policia once.

Once you get to Adelitas there are a few of spots to look in on. One is the Chicago, the other is the Tropical which is just across the street from Adelitas, and you may want to walk around to the alley just behind Adelitas where you will find the street girls all standing outside, the Hong Kong strip club is also back there.

The street girls in the area are a bargain at $20. Be sure to mention all that you want to take place in the room to the best of your ability. It is likely that you will pay closer to $30 once they add in for a change of position or a full nude session. If you just want straight missionary - $20.

Be carefull not to get involved with the English speaking hustlers down there. I am not speaking of mongers that you may meet in one of the clubs. I am speaking of the street types that are out to sell you services that are free. A good example is, sometimes there are guys standing around that want to be the go between when you are attempting to speak to the street chicks. I would stay away from the massage parlors, and the solicitors that try to take you to the massage parlors also.

i also noticed as i was sitting by the main stage that 5 of 6 girls who danced while i was there had c-sections, is this a common practice in mexico?

cesarean sections (c-section) are very common in mexico. mexicos rate for c-sections is the highest in the world, and within some states its as high as 68% (queretaro ). it is especially prevalent amongst working girls. you can cover up a c-section scar, but there is very little you can do about loose pussy. plus it lets them get back to work faster.

tj is a little down still from the holidays, but it is getting back to full speed pretty quickly. hk was the best i had seen it in some time this past thursday. ab will continue to suck for another couple weeks, or until the construction gets completed.
