EA, excellent information. Several new places to me. Certainly there must be much more to be discovered. Checking out classificados, picking up flyers and just asking around. There are lots of hidden gems.

Cheap centro termas... putting a few new ones on the map

Here is a list of some dirt cheap (and some fairly dirty) centro places that I came across during my latest trip. Well, to even call them "termas" might be stretching it way too far, already, but since that's what they call themselves, I´ll stick to that. In any case, we are talking about plain old run-of-the-milll brothels here: so no changing into fancy robes, no saunas, no shower facilities, just a bar area and on-site facilities to do the girls. As far as I can see, no one has ever reported on them here. Needless to say, I seriously doubt that English will get you very far in those places (although even without any Portuguese, there won’t be any misunderstanding as to why you are there).

116 Oceanic (also called Espaço Oceanic)

Rua da Conceição (between Rua Teófilo Otoni and Av. Marechal Floriano).
Directions: At the Uruguiana station, take the Presidente Vargas exit. Cross to the OTHER side of President Vargas (i.e. away from the big open-air market), and walk up the street (away from the big church) for about a block. You will come to a small park. Cross it to get to Rua da Conceição. 116 Oceanic is on the right-hand side. Phone number: 2286-8195.

No entrance fee, no minimum consumption, drinks are checked off on a card and paid upon exit. Programas starting at R$ 15 for 15 minutes, R$ 1 per minute. Programas are payable upfront. About 20 girls there, 3-4 doable ones. Lousy facilities. I first discovered this place back in 2004 through a Brazilian monger. One evening I was there, they had a masked party, and I ended up taking a chick dressed as a Brazilian bride. Well, I got that fantasy out of my system. Pretty fun place to just hang out and watch the skimpily dressed girls dance and sing to the latest baile funk hits. Worth it for the cultural experience alone .

Club das Danadinhas (also called Bar Club No. 35)

Rua do Acre, 35, Sobrado, Centro
Directions: from 116 Oceanic, head to Marechal Floriano and take a right. At the Largo de Santa Rita, walk down Rua Mayrink Veiga past MV 30, hang a left a Rua Alcântara Machado up to Rua Acre, and turn right. This place is on the right-hand side),
    Phone: 2203-0873
Mon thru Fri 12:00 noon to 12:00 midnight
    Entrance: None
Drink Prices: R$ 2 for a bottle of water, same for beer. Drinks are checked off on a card.
    P4P Pricing: R$ 1 per minute, starting at R$ 20.00.

About 10 girls there, including three good-looking ones. Ran a special promotion of 2 girls for 30 minutes @ R$ 50.00. Seems hard to beat to me. Facilities, however, looked appropriate for the not-faint-at-heart only, so beware.

    Club No. 31

31 Rua Alcântara Machado No. 31 (between Rua Acre and Rua Mayrink Veiga).
From MV 30, just walk to the corner with Rua Alcântara Machado and hang a left. Club 31 is on the left-hand side. Can't miss it.
    Phone: 2518-5427
Open 3:00 PM to midnight (?).
Entrance: R$ 10.00 (includes four choppes). If you want to drink anything else, no drinks are included, and you pay extra.
    P4P Rates:
    20 minutes @ R$ 50.00
    30 minutes @ R$ 70.00
    40 minutes @ R$ 90.00
    60 minutes @ R$ 110.00

I was in a hurry, so I didn’t go in, so don’t know about facilities or numbers of girls. Definitely a bit more upscale looking (most common CCs accepted)

    MF1 (Marechal Floreano No. 1)

Located right at the corner of Miguel Couto and Marechal Floreano on Largo de Santa Rita. You’ll see the neon sign out front. Pretty steep stairway.

No entrance fee, drinks reasonably priced (beer R$ 3.00, for example; you pay for drinks as you go along). 20 minutes @ R$ 30.00, 30 minutes @ R$ 40.00, 40 minutes @ R$ 60.00, 60 minutes @ R$ 100.00. Both 20 minutes and 30 minutes are in cabins, the other two options included the suite.

Only about 5 girls there, with 4 of them very good-looking (some of the girls said that during Carnaval, there are about 15 there). Did a tall, lanky, fake blond there (Rhadiza?), who claimed to be a Brazilian/Saudi-Arabian mix. Oh my, who would have thought of that? Somewhat of a dud, though. Also, a Carioca (Eduarda), who was a true GFE. Very nice and friendly atmosphere, with lots of samba being played in there. Spent an evening there helping a group of 8 guys from Hong Kong who didn’t speak any Portuguese get laid. Worth checking out, considering that it is virtually across the street from MV 30, in case you are in the neighborhood.

Ah, something else comes to mind: when I was at Praca Mauá, I walked past both the Scandinavian and Florida bars on several occasions. Florida boite had the following prices posted as of March:

30 minutes @ USD 20.00 (yes, prices were posted in US dollars)
    40 minutes @ USD 30.00
    60 minutes @ USD 50.00.

Not even all that bad at the current exchange rate. Unfortunately, couldn’t sample any.

All these places are in very close proximity to each other, so you can easily check them out in an afternoon (and throw in MV 30 to boot, if you are so inclined). Also, I am sure there are tons of similar places in this neighorhood, so go out and explore. Happy mongering!

Now that Rio has been officially ruined...

    Date: Timeless

    To: All expats

    Re: Shitting where you eat

Oh how I remember being able to lay Ticas for a "hot dog and a coke" not even 15 years ago.

Oh how I remember being able to lay Phillipinas for a "hot dog and a coke" not even 10 years ago.

Oh how I remember being able to lay a ( fill in your local babe ) for a "hot dog and a coke" not even 5 years ago.

Those of us who live in pussy paradises should understand that discussing or posting the (semi) secret information of our pussy paradises is completely counterproductive to the continued enjoyment of our paradises.

All you need to do is look at Buenos Aires, Rio, Costa Rica, Angeles City, Bangkok, Phnom Penh and numerous other spots which FOOLish, repressed and sex-starved gringos ruined.

Do you want the same fate to befall your secret pussy paradise?

Do you still want to keep bragging about your private pussy paradise?

What is the upside potential to doing so?

What is the downside potential to doing so?

    Stop shitting where you eat.

The gringo tourists may escape their sex prison for a week or two and hit local commercial spots, but we dont need to help them ruin our mostly secret, private, unknown and out-of-the-way paradises, do we?

Why do you go to Brazil if you obviously dislike colored people? I ask of curiosity.

Arriving in Rio on May 15 for a couple of weeks

Four of us will be staying in an apt. in Copa on the Beach near Help. Two of us have been there once before and the other two are first timers. I am thinking that anyone who wants to meet while we are there might drop me a line. If there are a few of us we can designate an area to stop thru on a regular basis and check with each other for persuing the obvious. None of us speak Portugese.

I also would appreciate some input from those of you in the know where there might be some English speaking employees at the various Termas and Out Calls and Strip Joints and Hang out places. AS I said before I had pretty good luck in Centro at Florida and Scandinavia.I know that under the right circumstances you can get your message accross even if there is a language barrier. But I want to go to VM and some of the Termas in Centro. We stayed in Centro during Carnival before and this is our first experience in Copa for just Sightseeing and mongering. I have been gathering the info off of the board and I appreciate it. So please continue with the info and where are the best places that might have at least a little English?

    Regarding venturing out

I realize that Copa is not "safe" by any means and that one can find problems there also; but is it safe downtown? I have been downtown once to go sight seeing, but not much else.

I would like to venture out to find one of the diamonds in other areas near Copa or in other parts of Rio. I have actually met someone that lived out of town and had them come in to Rio to see me, but going to visit her has never been an option.

You're more likely to get declining marginal rates for massagens girls...for example...I met this 30/half hour chica in Copa...I asked her how much 2 hours were, she told me 80 vs. the 120 rate derived from linear extrapolation. TLN was 150...There is tremendous value in finding these girls, speaking Portuguese, and getting their contact info...but you all are right...Copa has more negatives than positives...even for the hustlers visiting for 7 days as fake ballers...

In reality...Rio to me has lost its luster all together...

    Copa

EA, good observations and I agree with you. In my last report I mentioned similar trends in my own mongering style.

I think one important thing to point out is that you, me and Sperto all spend a lot of time outside Copa, but we are all in country for months at a time. Other guys who only get 2 weeks vacation per year may still prefer a different kind of visit to Brazil.

I understand why they don't want to stay in Catete, for example, where there is no decent beach. The alternatives to Copa with a beach, like Ipanema and Leblon, although superior are also more expensive than Copa.

I also like Termas 502, although GFE was a little bit hard to find for me. I sessioned once, with a sweet blond hardbody called India. The other time I left without taking anyone. I like universitarias and there are not many of that type in 502 or even 4x4.

Yeah, Help is expensive but when you break it down by the hour it is sometimes not much more than the Centro massagens. My best Brazil experience of last trip was an absolutely gorgeous morena clara I pulled out of Help, 200r for two hours. She was the total package, just mind blowing. The reaction of the room service waiter at the love motel said it all. I guess he sees a lot of girls going through that place. Anyway, when the lift doors opened and he saw my girl he had this stunned look, took half a step back, and said "Opa!"

Nightlife (non-pro's): Everything is better than Copa.
    Beach: Ipanema, Barra etc.

I can't see any reason at all staying in Copa, unless you happen to like Help.

O que aconteceu com esta regra velha da pista que cliente quem fale portugues somente paga cem Reais? Off the top of my head, that's how I would probably phrase it.

Yep, the dollar has gone down quite a bit, and there is no end in sight. Last week I was there, the dollar hit R$ 2.11. Compare that to R$ 2.50 when I was in Rio less than a year ago, and R$ 2.85 back in 2004, to say nothing of the R$ 3.00+ back in 2002. Nothing we can do about it. But the thing is: in addition thereto, nominal prices in Brazil are on the rise, also… and especially in the tourist segment.

Let´s take my hotel, for example:

    Room for two occupants in 2004: R$ 115.00 @ 2.85/dollar = 40.35 dollars
    Room for two occupants in 2005: R$ 127.00 @ 2.50/dollar = 50.80 dollars
    Room for two occupants in 2006: R$ 139.00 @ 2.15/dollar = 64.65 dollars.

That’s a whopping increase of 60% for the same room.

Cab fares are another case in point.

    Base rate for cab in 2004: R$ 2.50 @ 2.85/dollar = 0.88 dollars
    Base rate for cab in 2005: R$ 3.00 @ 2.50/dollar = 1.20 dollars
    Base rate for cab in 2006: R$ 3.70 @ 2.15/dollar = 1.72 dollars.

In other words, the base rate for cabs has almost doubled in terms of dollars over the past two years.

Several people on this board have pointed out that in response to a lack of demand, many Copacabana GDPs have raised rates (which makes no sense, I know). Well, I guess they are not the only ones. Hotels and restaurants that mostly cater to tourists have certainly followed suit, too.

Have prices gone up in other parts of Rio? Yes, of course. But my point is that prices for tourists in Copacabana have gone up above average. A choppe for R$ 4.00 at Balcony? A beer, a coffee, and a water for R$ 10.00 at Meia Pataca? Como on.

Before someone says… well, yes, but in Copacabana, that’s where the girls are, that´s where the action is: you know, I no longer see any reason to monger in Copacabana, either.
Austriaco I could not agree with you more! Actually the last times I spent in Rio, I spent more time outside Copa checking out other areas. You hit it perfectly with these two post about prices in Rio. My hotels prices increased 33% by the end of last year and maybe higher now. After you spent many times on Copa, it gets redundant. The only time a fresh new supply comes thru in masses is Carnaval, but they bring Carnaval prices also. For me personally I wanted to explore more of Rio. I am even looking at getting a place down there, but was looking away from Copa and more up Ipanema and Barra. I am not saying I will never spend time on Copa again, but I will not spend the majority of my trip mongering or chilling there. Rio is a big beautiful city with lots of areas and women to explore outside of Copa!!

Last Friday, I was chatting with one of my regular waiters at Terraço Atlântico, and at one point in time, I could see him looking at one of the girls preying on a gringo, shaking his head in utter disbelief. When I asked what he was thinking, he said.. “It’s really just amazing.. those Copa hookers asking for R$ 300.00 for a program. They would have trouble finding customers at R$30.00 in Villa Mimosa! It is just insane!”. From what I saw in Centro during this trip, I couldn’t agree more.

The few times that I was a Balcony, I didn’t see anything even worth a second look, just horrible. Meia Pataca was hopping every time I was there, but the selection was very inconsistent… sometimes, a looker or two, but overall, also nothing special (and lots of the same GDPs you see every year). Terraço Atlântico had a few good-looking girls every night, which is no surprise given the sheer number of girls there. Most of them started negotiations at R$ 200.00, which is just plainly ridiculous. One girl I talked to in Meia Pataca offered me that rate, and when I responded by saying “Whatever happened to the old rule that customers speaking Portuguese pay R$ 100.00?”, she replied “Well, that’s OK, too.” I said “R$ 100 for an all-nighter?”, and she responded “Well, you are the one in charge.” I didn’t take her up on her offer, though. Two girls at Terraço Atlântico offered me a dupla for R$ 100.00 each. So I guess that as long as you can speak Portuguese and negotiate hard, you can still get semi-decent rates. Without Portuguese… ufffffffffffffffffffff.

Rates for the other major termas have been reported here frequently, so I don’t have to go into that. Needless to say, they haven’t gotten cheaper, either.

To sum things up: higher rates for P4P than in other parts of town, and no better looking girls, just more hardcore girls (at least the pista chicks). No reason at all to go whoring in Copacabana for me any more.

And the less time I spend looking for pussy in Copa, the less incentive there is for me to spend time in Copa at all. And here’s a third reason I will stay clear of Copacabana in the future: crime and safety. But more on that in the appropriate section: http://www.internationalsexguide.inf...&postcount=525

Termas 502 is my favorite "value" mongering spot in centro. I reported on it here http://www.internationalsexguide.inf...postcount=1632
in 2004 and still like it for its "underachiever" and unpretentious atmosphere that you cannot beat in other termas. Lots of GFE chicks, too. Real keepers. No overpaying here.

A farewell to... Copacabana? Part II

    Copacabana GDPs

    A farewell to… Copacabana? Part 1

Just got back from roughly three months in the state of Rio de Janeiro, although I only spent about a month in the city of Rio. Needless to say, after such an extended trip, a day-by-account is pretty pointless (if not to say boring), so I rather focus on a few tidbits and aspects of my trip that might be helpful to the next monger. Will I go back to Rio? Sure. Will I stay in Copacabana again? Not likely.

This conclusion of mine is based on three major factors, all of which are interrelated to some extent: prices overall, the girls, and crime and safety (which I will post in the appropriate section).

    Overall Prices

Yep, the dollar has gone down quite a bit, and there is no end in sight. Last week I was there, the dollar hit R$ 2.11.
