    Suspected prostitutes arrested

    http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePag....php?ID=105490

Accra, June 7, GNA - The Adabraka District Command of the Ghana Police Service on Wednesday arrested 28 suspected prostitutes and eight men alleged to be running brothels at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Adabraka and its surrounding areas.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr Philip Dugah, who is in-charge of the Adabraka Police Station, told the GNA in Accra that the Police carried out the raid at dawn, as part of the Service's plan to rid the city of miscreants.

He said that investigations were ongoing to prove the identity of the suspects and those found culpable would be arraigned. Scores of curious people, who heard of the arrest thronged the Adabraka Police station to catch a glimpse of the suspects. But they were met with disappointment as the suspects were all being held in custody.

Mr Dugah said the exercise would be carried out relentlessly to bring sanity into the city.

Prostitute collapses in court on hearing she is HIV positive

    http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePag....php?ID=105721

Accra, June 12, GNA. A prostitute, who appeared before the La Magistrate's Court on Monday for prostituting and soliciting for immoral acts virtually collapsed when she was told that she had tested positive for HIV.

After she had been revived by the Court officials, she held her chest and said: "Awuarade ma koma", meaning "God my heart" She was among seven out of nine Prostitutes, who had been rounded up at various parts of Accra in a joint Police/Military operation and had tested positive for HIV/AIDS.

Seven of them pleaded guilty to prostituting and soliciting for immoral acts.

They will reappear on June 26.

Two of the accused persons, who tested negative for the virus, pleaded not guilty and were granted a 30 million-cedi bail with a surety each.

One of the accused persons told the Court "I am married and pregnant." Another also stated "I'm pregnant also" causing laughter in the Court.

The trial judge, Mrs Florence Otoo, ordered that a pregnancy test be conducted on them to verify the truth of the matter. The Mrs Otoo sensing that the Prostitutes were not counselled asked a medical officer from the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, who conducted the test, to counsel them.

The Judge told the court that because of public interest generated in the story, "I have to confine them so that they do not to pass it on to others".

    Very ST question

Just discovered this scence lately, and I have been reading the Ghana board all day long. It is definately a great resource, thanks guys.

Now here's the situation, in Belgium I can have some short-term fun (about 15-30 minutes for sucknfuck) with some black girls for max. 50 euro. Mostly I negotiate and pay 30 euro.

Now I can accept tourists spend about 20us dollar a night for a girl. This is not that much money to us, it is a fair price to them, you got sweet companion (I hope) and get laid several times. The only thing i would worry about is she doesnt steal anything.

Except the LT stuff above I am also interested in (very) ST fun in Accra. I would like to pick up some girls and just have fun with them for 15-30 minutes after which I want them to go.

If we take 50 euro as an average amount of money earned a day in us and europe, and 1$ in Ghana this means that for the above (very) ST fun the economically right price is between 1$-1.2$

But I wonder is this possible? Anyone has experience with this in Accra?

4).Is it better to spend the time of the match in my hotel and not to go out after the match in both cases of Italian or Ghananian victory?

Maybe the best is to go around in the morning proposing to girls to watch the match in my hotel room.
I was in Abidjan some years ago, when Ivory Coast defeated Ghana in a match at the Abidjan stadium.

I don't remember the reason but many of the Ghanians supporters that arrived in Abidjan were heavily beaten (many of them were hospitalized) by Ivorians. It was like guerrilla..

Last year I watched Italy vs Ivory Coast during one of my visits in Abidjan (my wife is Ivorian), in a "maquis" (restaurant).

I was the only european there, sitting with some of my Ivorian friends.

Italy won, but nobody harassed me (maybe because I said that Ivory Coast was playing better....).

Ghanians are a lot more pacific and less lunatic than Ivorians, so I think you will have no problems (but, as you should always do in Africa, don't look for troubles)

In any case, option 4 is a good idea (I mean in the hotel, but not alone..)

Come on, my friend! Have you a tag pasted on your forehead stating 'folks, I am an Italian'? Certainly no, I suppose!

So, go out, enjoy your normal programme in Accra and just be a little restrained in case of any goal!

By the way, in case of need you can always claim 'I am a Swiss'!

    Have a great time!

Football is some kind of religion in Ghana, like it's in the most african countries - Ghanians love their "Black Stars".

Best thing would be, buy a Black-Star-Jersey and celebrate the victories and cry for the defeats.

Seventeen men and nine women including a 16-year old JSS student Faustina Agyatey were arrested last Saturday during a clampdown on criminals and prostitutes by the Madina District Police Command.

The suspected prostitutes were rounded up around the Flemish and Nikkis drinking spots at Madina Zongo Junction, where they were allegedly hovering and soliciting for men.

One of the suspects, Doris Omalon, 40, on whom two male condoms were found, told the police that she seized them from her husband at Juapong when she caught him in bed with another woman.

The other suspects, Tina Amponsah, 34, Rebecca Ameku, 26, Ophelia Adjomeku, 17, and Susan Afful, 23, Judith Tetteh-Enyo, 24, Vida Tornye, 25, and Cynthia Mensah, 35 all pleaded not guilty of trading in prostitution and have been granted ¢5 million bail each with a surety by the Madina District Magistrate Court. They will reappear on June 26, 2006.

In the case of the seventeen suspected criminals, the prosecution said they were arrested at various locations suspected to be criminals' dens at Haatso, Nkwantanang and Madina Market. A quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found on them. They have all been remanded in prison custody pending further investigations.

Police rounds up wee peddlers & prostitutes

    http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePag....php?ID=104609

Accra, May 21, GNA - Seventeen wee peddlers and nine prostitutes were arrested on Saturday dawn by the Madina District Police Command around Haatso, Nkwantanang and Madina in Accra.

Speaking to GNA, the District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr Kwabena Antwi-Boasiako said the suspected wee peddlers were arrested in Haatso, Nkwantanang and around the Madina Market.

He said some quantities of leaves believed to be Indian hemp were seized from the culprits.

Commander Antwi-Boasiako added that the prostitutes, who were hovering around soliciting for men at the Flemish and Nikkis drinking bars, were also rounded up and placed in police custody. He gave the names of the wee peddlers as Henry Nii Sodja Ashiley, Allotey Abbey, Nii Tetteh Ahene, Roland Ashiley, Paa T. Lamptey, Salifu Malik, Kwabena Noku, Paa Nii Tetteh, Razak Moro, Nabil Abdallah, Awudu Razak, Edem Ivan, Ibrahim Adowa, Ankra Charles, Issifu Issaka, Christian Tetteh Akwada and Tahira Mohammed.

The names of the suspected prostitutes, whose ages range from 16 to 40 years are Tina Amponsah, Rebecca Ameku, Fenistina Agyatey, Ophelia Agomaku, Susana Afful, Doris Omalo, Judith Tetteh, Vida Tonye and Cynthia Mensah.

There were three students among the suspected prostitutes. According to the District Police Commander, these suspects would be put before the Madina Magistrate Court prosecution on Monday, May 22, 2006.

DSP Antwi-Boasiako said, the prostitutes were chased from Accra recently and they have now shifted their nocturnal trade to Madina. He added that, their situation would be very uncomfortable, if they continued with their trade here in Medina.

Turning to the narcotic peddlers, he added that, the police would be on them day and night.

It would be recalled that two weeks ago, the Greater-Accra Regional Police Command arrested 75 suspected narcotic peddlers. Speaking to GNA by the Greater-Accra Regional Police Public Relation Director, Chief Inspector Dompreh said the police would continue to fight these criminals and that the exercise would continue to be a daily affair.

    Corruption is a relative concept

Cameroon is one of the most corrupt nations in the world according to Transparency International if you check out their website. Ghana, on the other hand, does not have a 'loser' President trying to rig the election rules to stay in power. So, in short, after living in Ghana for 2 years I can say that I have never had a problem in Ghana with the police as President Kufour is trying his best to 'democratize' his nation by increasing their pay and accountability. Corruption is still there but it is not as bad as Cameroon because of the leadership at the top. If you travel using local transport with the local population your chances of being harassed are also reduced.
