I've notice a common ploy in Kiev is people who deal with and con Westerners like to pretend (and they do a good job) that these outlandish prices are 'normal'. I think too many men who arrive in Kiev allow hormones to take over their brain, penis and wallet. But hey, where else is the 45+ set to go?

Anyone who is stupid enough (sorry all you guys who do it) to pay the room rates at Priemer Palace are stupid enough to pay a girl $500 for an hour of nothing - btw $500/hr will buy you a top notch escort in any western country. Some people just have more money then they know what to do with.

It seems that Kiev, I’m not there since last year, has overtaken Moscow in crazy prices.

For 300 EUR (approx 380 USD) you can get much more in Moscow… Thinking it’s even a corporate rate! It should be much less. As far as I know the difference between corporate and rack rate are approx. 30-40 %, I’m often travelling at these rates too, specially in Northern Europe where you get a Club Room (best in hotel, just under the roof, 23rd floor) for approx. 95 Euro (I’m talking on the hotel in the Fair in Gothenburg, Gothia Towers, Sweden, a new, good, four star). The rack rate is approx 160.

At Sovietsky, in Moscow, for instance you get a suite (100 square meters!) for 375 Euro!

By the way an hotel with no girl problems, just handle over some Euros 10-15 or USD to the security, and they will check also the girl out so she do not steal anything… is the hotel MIR, surely not a world class hotel but for less than one Third you can get this... (and it's Rack Rate!)

Which still is nothing compared to Moscow… Kiev seems to be one of the most expensive cities in the world… 500 USD for a long night with Yana (at Gia)! You can get a photo model for 500 USD in Moscow!!!

Last time I was in Ukraine I was staying (with Mistery Tramp! ) in a less funny normal double room still unrenovated, but acceptable, I had no time to look at it.

The positive things of hotel Mir are:
Quiet, no working girls in the lobby, easily handed security, night club with a lot of girls just five metes from the door, near to the Fair Ground, if you like you can even walk (15 min)

Negative
Soviet standard, a corridor maid at every floor with keys, but if the security left you though she will say nothing, Poor Breakfast, Poor Restaurant and even worse bar, but there is a shop with all the drinks you need always open. No access to the metro or to the centre in walking distance.

It's totally amazing to see how Ukrainian greed is killing their competitive edge.

My company does quite some business with the Ukraine, and for the same reasons that we pulled out of Moscow 2 years ago, we are seriously considering doing the same with Kiev. It's simply not worth it anymore.

What these countries seem to forget is that it's mainly their cheap labor/goods that makes it attractive for foreign companies to do business here ...NOT because the Ukranians are such charming, friendly and trusting people.

The same goes for GIA. If you ask me, GIA became popular (and not to forget successful) for offering good service against an attractive price. For this reason ONLY do mongers like us make frequent use of their services.

Their girls are nice, but definitely have no pussy of gold (not even silver!). So if they want to grow their existing customer base, they should try to increase the quality of their girls instead of their prices.

I know for a fact that the people from GIA read this board, so I hope these messages will bring their feet a little bit closer to the ground.

They used to be the best option for people who did not have the time or inclination at points to leave their Hotel room or apartment. There has been many a night I have just thought I will take the easy option and give them a call.
