$120.00 was a good deal and you most likely screwed yourself when you bargined down.

First of all, to my pal Johnny Sax, I hate to do an "I told you so", but now you see what I meant when I spoke about "no easy answers". You can repost posts like Dark Rum's that were posted in the wrong forum to try and get the ensuing discussion moved but unless you exorcise every part of it and post referring to it from the original thread someone's going to come in late and start it all over again. Still I agree with you, at least you can try.

But back to the issues raised by the quote above. One could debate whether or not the $120 was a good deal or not, but I'd have to disagree with the rest of that reply.

First of all , does Rebad really think these gals would have provided that much better service that it would have made any real difference if he had paid them the $20 more they originally asked? These gals were hustlers and as it turns out they have hustled at least one other guy around here as well. If he had paid their asking price they probably would have been JUST as bad and he'd be out $20 more.

Second of all, a certain amount of bargaining is perfectly normal part of the whole process and any chica that has been working th BM any length of time understands this. Is rebad suggesting that guys should never bargain for risk of offending the poor sensitive girls? They're hookers for chrissakes, in this case experienced hardened hookers. They've seen alot and, despite any show to the contrary, they're not going to break if god forbid some guy isn't willing to pay the amount they're asking.

What about cien por hora? Is he suggesting one shouldn't bargain that down $20 for risk of offending some chica? I think that part of the reason the chicas ask $100 is to allow room for the normal bargaining process. That allows them to still walk away with most of what they asked for and really expected and occasionaly, when they find some sucker who doesn't understand bargaining, walk away with a real prize. They don't necessarily provide that guy any better service because of it because they see that guy as a fool who doesn't know any better and who can thus be taken advantage of even more. I'll agree that hard bargaining (like offering $20 when the chica asks for $100) or bargaining on already low rates (like trying to bargain a $40 BM chica down to $30) is unrealistic and possibly can severely impact quality of subsequent service. But if $120 for 2 was a decent deal, it apparently wasn't that great a deal or Dark Rum wouldn't have initially walked away and the 2 chicas wouldn't have continued to pursue him.

This brings me to my last point. Whether it was a good deal or a bad deal or not, it was THE deal. The chicas agreed to it and therefore they should have delivered. There are simply no excuses for that.

Pay the girls what they request after the session and you will be fine.

Dont be cheap.

I understand what Rebad meant here. But one should be very careful how one reads it. Don't pay the girls "what they request after the session" or at least not what THEY initially requested back at the bar. Pay the girls what you BOTH agreed to back at the bar and, as Rebad correctly said, pay them AFTER the session. But again, be careful what you read here. You can also pay them more than you initially agreed to after the session as a form of tip IF, and I repeat IF, they delivered more than what you were expecting (it also helps to announce it in advance that a little extra may be in offing if they do a really good job). A ho-hum session, or worse a session like Dark Rum, doesn't deserve anything more than what was agreed to and if they really failed to deliver arguably deserves less. Determining a fair pro-rated amount is always going to be a problem and therefore it is a scenario that is best avoided from the outset if at all possible. Often it comes down to the victim just paying the originally agreed amount to get them to go away and feeling ripped off as a result. The chicas will also act deeply put out that you should even balk at paying them for their lackluster performance, but as soon as they're gone they'll just curse the cheap gringos while running back to the BM to find another one to pull the same stunt on. To those chicas it may seem like we're all cheap (not so cheap that they don't continue to seek us out), but in reality they bring it on themselves.

Thanks for the reply and insight Johnny Sax. Your right...it wasn't that horrible of experience because I hedged my bet by only paying $100 for the 2.

The issue was more the changing of the stated terms and conditions...and the continued haggling for extra dollars as if I wouldn't know the exchange rate...when if you they just had done what was agreed upon, they would have been fairly rewarded over and above for there efforts.

And all this on the heels of just arriving and dealing with the voltures (cab drivers) at the airport and then....Fat Boy/Ricky Ricardo at the Morazon who feels the need to carry your soft drink up to your room so he can hang around for a tip.

I believe it is the longest walk in mongering...the walk from baggage claim/custom declaration in Costa Rica to the cab stand...After traveling for Un-teen hours...the mind and the spirit is just not ready for the onslaught...

With all that being said...I have a couple burning questions.

1. Been to Zona Blue on occasions...and each time I could hear an echo and actually play cards with the bartender if I chose. Is there ever a large volume of girls there? or Is it always picking between the 4 or 5 there who seem disinterested? I know people have had good experiences...what are the peak days and times...and is there ever the volume of girls there as there is at the New Fantasy

2. Sportmans Lounge. I have read the post of a few where they had an excellent time there. But on my visits...again...seemed like a ghost town and sporadic chicas to choose from? What gives with this place. What are the Peak hours? Is there ever more men then woman in this place?

3. I am always mystified by the lobby bar in the Morazon. It is relatively empty at night during prime time....and in the early morning hours...when the sun is coming up until breakfast...it is louder and more lively then the BM. But it always looks as if there are locals in there...people not into the trade. What gives on this place? Do I need to make a deal with Ricky Ricardo?

Any insight is appreciated.

1) I usually go to Zona Blue around 6-7pm just because that is when I am usually ready to go. I have heard it is better earlier than that, but I don't know. There are often only 5-6 girls there, true. But I've usually found one or two of the group who act interested and one who interests me. My wing man has trouble finding anyone there who he likes, in the short length of time he is there with me, so he isn't a big fan. I guess it depends on how picky one is; how lucky one is; and what time one goes. I have had great luck there with several girls and I like the place a lot.
2) I have only been to the SL once and I have the same impression as you. My feeling is that this place is probably best for those who stay there; that if you stay there you get to know all the girls who come in and out and you can probably connect with one that way. When I was there, there were only 5-6 girls, they were all busy with clients and I felt like I was at a private party without an invitation. I'll check it out again sometime. The food was okay and the place looks nice, but even though I am not a young guy, the place seemed too "old" for me, and not very appealing; though, again, physically it looks quite luxurious, at least in the bar and lobby areas.
3) I never pay much attention to the bar at the Morazan. I have noticed it being busy in the morning now that you mention it, but I have never noticed any chicas working in there, so I tend to just pay it little attention.

As to LL's comment about why not disqualify the Morazan due to its scalding showers? I will answer thus:
1) This time around my shower was fine, and in fact all was a-ok with my room there.
2) Even with the scalding shower, for $35/night, it's fine, when my usual routine is to go to sleep around 1am and wake up to start my day at 6-7am. All I need is a quiet place to get 5-7 hours of shuteye.
3) It's so damned convenient, it's fantastic. One block from the Del Rey and Key Largo, and no chica fees.

I'm glad people don't like it, so I can keep finding a room there. Just like people are glad that I refuse to stay at the Presidente because of their Draconian chica dress code policy. To each his own.

A few years ago I tried 2 girls in my hotel room at the Del Rey.

What I remember is the girls acted like nurses, every time I wanted to insert into the other girl they made a 5 minute interruption to remove the old condom, tear open a new one, roll it on, and roll it on tight. It made me lose my concentration and fun.

The SL and the Prez certainly can have their noise troubles due to so many hard surfaces, however if you want a more upscale room another route to consider is to stay in one of their suites. All of those hotels have some very nice rooms if you're willing to spend the bucks.

LL - the problem is, places that are in the Marriott class or similar in San Jose are not located anywhere near the action. IMHO, the best place close to the action is the Sportsman's Lodge, which is actually a quite nice place, but can be a bit noisy due to wooden floors, and also lacks the amenities of a large full service hotel (such as a pool and fitness center) - but it's a nice pleasant boutique hotel with great service from the excellent staff.

And the Presidente, which is, basically, a decent 3* international class hotel, but not at the level you are seeking, apparently.

I believe that you could stay in the very upscale Marriott Los Suenos, and still frequent the bars in Jaco (which are around a 10 minute drive away) and bring back a lady from the Beatle Bar or other venue in Jaco for the night's entertainment, but it will be inconvenient - especially if you are looking for multiple short time encounters, rather than one all-nighter.

I've been following the hotel discussion and have a question. Suppose you've done enough time in grubby hotels that it's worth it to you to spend a little more for a nicer, cleaner place from which to enjoy your CR visit?

A place within easy reach of the action and reasonably tica friendly, but maybe a cut above scalding showers (why isn't this an instant disqualifier?) and toilet troubles. A place where you can actually sleep when you want to, maybe even w/o earplugs. A place where you maybe even have a balcony and a view, just to make it nicer when you are in the room.

What hotel might this be? Appreciate any suggestions.

Being tired and not really on my game because of the long flight. I fell for the payment first trick. In which I have never had a problem with in the past the few times that I have agreed to it. I found that it takes the tension out of it for most woman, because some guys can be j-asses. But of course the risk is that you have given away leverage for a bad performance.

Well, everything started off well enough with both hitting the shower. And then the typical BJ from one while the other one throws boobs in your face.

Then fvcking began. I mean me getting screwed.

To make a dissappointing story short.

Anyway, when they tried to shower up without me atleast getting a second unload. I objected to the point where I started walking to the phone to call the front desk (Morazon). Not sure exactly what I was going to say or what they could do. But I had to show some kind of action.

With this one of the girls returned and attempted to wake up Mr Willy with a BJ, but buy this time, I was so tired and annoyed. I just wanted them out. But just out of principle. I had her sit there for the struggle because I knew I wasnt getting back up because my spirit for the whole event was broken.

So after an unsuccessful attempt at a BJ and an even worse attempt at a HJ. I dismissed them without a word except please leave.

Yes, it is good to be very careful when inviting two chicas back to your room; but this didn't turn out ALL THAT bad, really.

The answer is yes. I am an afficianado of 2-fer's and I have had several good experiences, in fact I am batting 1000 with this.

The best way is at Zona Blue or one of the other massage parlor type places. That way things are under control, the price is set, and you don't have to worry about them getting into your suitcase etc.. Just take the money you need, no more, and you don't have to worry about them stealing anything; though I have never heard of anyone at Zona Blue getting robbed, anyway.

As for getting 2fers at the Blue Marlin, I've had 4 or so there, and all have turned out very well. None were lesbians, however; I only got that at Zona Blue. But I've brought back several 2somes for 3somes to the Morazan and all have turned out very welll. In fact if you do a search you can find some photos.

The bottom line is, you never really know how ANY girl is going to react once back in the room; it's an "art" to choose girls who do what you want them to do, and sometimes even the best of us are "off our game". (See the photo section for a "Venezuelan" girl who pulled the wool over my eyes this last trip.)

If you have your stuff locked away in the room there isn't that much risk, just the colones...

By the way, of the 2fers I've had, I've paid $90-130 each session, including tips. My very best one $100.

I'd like to add a comment as one of the frequent offenders. I COMPLETELY agree that this section should keep its focus on posting photos or at worst that and comments about those photos and that other type comments should go in one of the many other more appropriate sections.

The problem is, as Johnny alluded to, that it is too easy to get sidetracked. Even if some guys take it upon themselves to admonish others there will always be some guy who forgets or newbie who doesn't know any better. And, while moving those side discussions to other sections is a not a bad idea, who is going to do it? I'm sure the admin has a lot on his plate already. A good case in point is the very post that started this latest string of commentary. It started with a post on 2-fers by a new member Dark Rum who even though it was an excellent post happened to put it in the wrong forum. Rather than police it or move it, the admin recommended it for "Reports of Distinction" (which I agree it deserves). How do you cut a piece out of a thread and move it elsewhere without also moving the commentary it spawned? I don't see any easy answers here.

I agree that it is a pain to do what I just did, which is to move the quote over to this section from the Photos section.

I am not one to enforce or become a pain in the ass about these netiquette things. It's just that obviously there have been complaints about posting threads of discussions in the Photos section, so I think we should at least TRY to not allow threads to go on there. Someone just has to take the initiative to move it over to here or another one of the discussion forums.

We can at least SUGGEST that the discussion be moved over to here...

I was in San Jose for just 3 nights, but thought I'd share some comments.

The girls at the BM complain that tourism is "down" now, so you should be able to get some good deals, as I did, there.

I went to the Sportsmen's Lodge for the first time. Looks like a super nice place, at least the lobby and bar are very luxurious. Maybe it was an "off night" but there were very few girls there, those who were there were "occupied" and, for my taste, even those weren't that good. I had a beer and quesadilla there (good quesadilla!) and then left. Just my own personal opinion. I will try it again at another time. By the way, the taxi ride there took me down a very dark and out of the way place, and for a moment I thought maybe the taxi driver was taking me somewhere to rob me!

I braved Club Monaco alone. I had a great experience there one time a year or two ago, before it became a strip place, where I found a super cute girl and took her upstairs for $20.

Now, I do not recommend it, at least not on a Thur. night.. I walked in, there were only 5 girls, and only one was appealing to me. I sat at the bar, I was the ONLY gringo and only one other (Tico) client was there. I had gone in to see some dancing and see if that girl I had there might still be there (fat chance). So no one danced the entire 20 min. or so I was there. Some chick with braces but older came over to me and it was one of those situations where I had zero interest in her but did not want to be rude. Finally she would not take a hint so I asked her if anyone was going to dance. She said No. I said, "Well, then, I am going to leave." She finally left and I tried to get the attention of the one I was interested in but she was playing with her phone, so I said "Screw it!" It was hard to see her over against the wall and maybe she wasn't all that great, anyway. I forget the prices to go upstairs, or for a lap dance, but they weren't all THAT great, considering the atmosphere there (dark, sleazy) and the talent (5 girls only one of which might have been above a 6 or 7). Considering that the prices for lap dances and going upstairs are not all the cheap, I think I'll write this place off my list until further notice. The least they management could have done was to have a girl dance while I was there, I might have stayed for another drink...

There are still a lot of great girls at the Blue Marlin and sometimes at Key Largo. Key Largo seems to have more and more of a reputation of having the fat, ugly chicks; though you can occassionally find a gem there.

I was at the BM one night and met this cute Dominicana (photo soon to be posted in the photos section). I had already had my fun at Zona Blue so was not all that interested in finding a chica. But I liked this one so I offered her $50, expecting her to counter with $70,we'd settle on $60 and I'd take her backto the room. But she just said "No, that's not enough" so I did not want to play the game, I just said, "Okay, maybe another night" and walked away. I've found this works. You decide what you will pay and then be willing to walk away until you find one who will accept close to your offer. That night I wasn't really all that into it so I didn't care.

So the next night I was standing next to this black girl from Limon. I wasn't interested in her and told her I was just there to have a drink, so we talked a bit. Well, then this same Dominicana from the night before came by and she was a friend of this black Tica, so they talked among themselves a moment and then the Dominicana said, "how about 2 girls tonight?" I said, "Well, maybe... How much?" and she said "$120 for the both of us." So I said, "Let's go."

I was a bit concerned since I did not know them at all, and was a bit afraid of them scamming me in some way, but I had all my important stuff put away in the safe at the Morazan so I wasn't too worried.

Went back and had a great time, they were both super cool, into it, and showed me a great time, no hurry, no hassles.

Another night I had a girl from Venezuela. I gave her $70 as I had never had a Venezuelan before and she was really seducing me at the bar, rubbing my crotch, being very seductive and flirtatious. She has great tits and sexy eyes. I forget her name, unfortunately, but she is the only blonde Venezuelan there, to my knowledge, and she said there were only 3 Venezuelans. I advise avoiding this Venezuelan. As soon as we got back to the room she was all about hurrying to get me off and leave, completely the opposite of how she was in the bar. I know, this happens; but it seldom happens to me, I have learned "how to pick 'em" for the most part. The Morazan is still a great deal in my opinion. Even several of the girls pointed out that they like it better than the Del Rey or Presidente. It's quieter, they say, and more tranquilo. I find the maid service to be great there, and no chica fee for me, anyway, not the last 2 times, even with 2 girls in the room. The shower was even better this time, so for $40/night including taxes, with the Tico Times coupon, it was a great deal, and they also have safes in the rooms.

As for Fat Ricky/Ricardo the bellboy there, I made him work for his tip this time, as I did not like the first room they showed me so he had to run downstairs and change the key for me and show me another room; I then did not feel so bad about giving him a mil for his efforts.

As for the taxi thing, when leaving there, I always get my own outside, and have them use the maria. It was $13 which is at least a couple dollars cheaper than having Ricky/Ricardo get it for you.

By the way, the cost of the taxi from the airport is now $13. $1 more is not much difference considering the rising cost of gas.

All in all another great time in San Jose'! Wish I could go about every month or two, but this will be my last trip for a long time, for various reasons.
