Amigo ... bottom line is, you're correct ... being able to speak spanish is key.
Better negotiating with the pros and better fun with non-pros.

First of all, I'm no Don Juan by any means. Really the only thing I have going is my experience and ability to speak spanish (not like a native, but pretty well).

If I was going to ask a pro that I met to travel with me I would first consider if we at least had some chemistry together. No chemistry ... then why travel with her?
If you have to have her ... pay her for the couple hours and move on ... there will be plenty of new hot chicas at your destination (ie Medellin / Cartagena).

If you do indeed have some chemistry and she's a cool chica, she should feel flattered that she's being asked to go on an all expenses paid vacation, whether it be Medellin, Rosario Islands, whatever.

Depending on your spanish ability, you can say to her that you know she'll be missing work and that you'll help her with a little cash at the end of the trip.
If she's really cool, she'll say don't worry about it and just go with you to enjoy.
Otherwise she should just say "muchas gracias" and hope for a little cash at the end.

Really, paying her too much is just not worth it ... like I said before, you can always easily find a new hot chica if your destination (like yours was) is Medellin or Cartagena ... without having to pay her airfare, etc.

It's hard to put a number on the amount to pay her if you are ... it all depends really on your relationship with her and how she treats you.

If she treats you like crap pay 0. If she treats you like a King, reward her.

My negotiation skills need improvement. I get too infatuated with a certain look or personality of a pro and feel I just need to offer her more to have her. It's probably just a matter of practice and confidence plus knowing I may need to hear a few no's before I find a yes. I definitely need more practice. If I can gain a comfortable command of Spanish I am certain I could be more sucessful in my negotiations. But the other variable I am strapped with is that generally don't have a lot of time to pick and choose, but fortunately this forum provides an opportunity to start thinking about it before hand, and that's a nice boost.

So what would be a fair price to pay for taking a pro on a 3-4 day excursion. And knowing Ricker . . . it is possible to do so without paying is great but if there is some chemistry and it is fun, plus if I am after a certain look or personality in a woman, would say $50. - $75 per day be about right? Also I am 51, so I imagine a young pro is going to expect something besides food, transportation, and entertainment. Any advise? Thanks.

If you were to do that again, perhaps it would be wise to instead take only one girl on the road with you, and pick up girls one at a time to join you "a la carte" once your destination is reached, instead of traveling with two that are constantly together. It might be very easy, given that the girls on location might be put at ease by the fact that one girl is already comfortable enough to travel with you. And like you said, the girl you travel with must be very comfortable with you... so it would probably be important to have her for a couple of days in her hometown before you go off into the unknown.

Also, I think you once mentioned that your Spanish is good, but if it isn't, then it just opens the door to long hours of conspiring between the two. A recipe for disaster!

I couldn't imagine negotiating $$ with a chica (pro) to take her on vacation to a different city in Colombia. Of course ... to each his own :)

I've met some nice GFE pros who I've gotten along with really well and made some excursions with them ... as friends (of course with full benefits).
If you've got the chemistry with someone, they'll go with you just to enjoy your company and nice hotel / food / fun, etc. and feel like a lady.

I took a couple of Cartegena hookers to Medellin to the mansion, and then week later took a couple hookers from Medellin to Isla Rosarios.

I would never do it again, two at a time that is. The two Cartegena hookers were great together for one night stands. But I discovered after a day or two they got bitchy and started teaming up that I was not buying them enough. At the end it seemed like they were competing with each other to see who could act cheated the most and get her way. The 18- 20 somethings just don't know any better.

With the Medellin hookers that I flew to Cartegena and then we took a boat to Isla Rosarios (great place, very romantic) the first 3-4 days was OK, the last several days one of the hookers was complaining of cramps, the last two days she was full throttle period. She was pissed as hell when I reduced her payment, she couldn't perform so I felt that was fair, but she had convinced herself she SHOULD be paid FULL commssion of course the other girl agreed with her so they were both pissed.

Then the other one was on the phone half the time, and wouldn't even let me do her while she talking!! Also they slept with each other rather then me which started irritating the hell out of me after the first few nights, and I am a quiet respectful sleeper!!! So that was less desirable than I had anticipated. But overall both Cartegena and Medellin girls were FUN, but having two at the same time didn't work out like I thought it would and being in the middle of two women with major money issues about me, got old quick!

In terms of which is better?? Neither, it depends on you and the situation how comfortable you are in the situation you create. For me it was easier to meet girls and other Americans in Cartegena. Many North Americans are frequent visitors of Cartegena, have a few drinks hang out at their apartments and they will introduce you to some cool women.

Alternatively, through the Medellin establisments (Mansion, etc) are great because they can be a safe leison between the girl and you. And mainly the woman needs to feel safe when she is traveling with you, then she will usually be nice and far less money driven as long as you are both are having fun. From now on the two girl traveling scene (like I did) . . . I would not recommend, though it did have it's rare fun moments it generally just took too much effort to get them both on the same page mood wise to really work.

Went to pleyboy club last night (Wednesday) and it wasn't happening that much. Only 24% full, although a lot of hot gals. Wanted 150K COP for an hour and another 150K COP to take home. Beers were 7000 cop. Mister Babilla was dead also, and Barbas was closed. Checked out a club called Issics or something like that. 10K cop fee to enter, beers 7K cop each. As soon as you start talking to a gal, she will immediately start ordering a drink for herself which will be at least 15K copa, so be careful. Chicas here are OK. Some 10's amount a group of 6's, 7's and 8's. However, the better gals wanted 400K copa for TLN. The guy at the door said it was going to be 150K copa for TLN, but he had lied to us. Felt really ripped off here. And would highly recommend against going to this tourist trap which was in the old city. Ended up at LDV (where else, right? ) and most of the gals here (it was around 2am) wanted 300K copa for TLN, but the best I could do was get them down to 220K copa ($100US). Which wasn't that bad. Gal was GFE, and I got a couple rounds off with her. Will try some local guides now.

Another place where you can bring in your companion, its not one of the cheap places, they start with USD 200 but go down if you request better rate (more or less to 300.000 incl. ABF for 2) real nice place 5 min. from the airport, reg. girls I was lucky (very lucky) at Playboy (or similar) and had a total GF experience.

I used an HSBC debit card on San Andres in May. Not sure what bank the ATM was from. No fees on either end and the exchange rate was very favorable for the time. They do set some pretty small limits on withdrawal amounts.

My bank (HSBC) does not have a branch in Colombia. But I have a Master debit card that works well all over Brazil. Any experience using Master debit cards at ATMs in Colombia, and any estimate on the fees? Also what is the best rate of exchange for US $ and where.

It depends upon the network(s) that your debit card is connected to. There should be no problem. The exchange rates vary daily. Most ATMs generally give the same rate. Colombian banks charge no fees but generally limit you to 300,000 to 400,000 COP per withdrawal. Now the exchange rate is around 2500 COP per dollar. You can make as many withdrawals in a row as your home bank limit will allow. You home bank fees will be all you pay. Of course you indirectly pay a conversion fee which is factored in to the exchange rate you get.
