As a newbie to Jakarta, I find the directions given by our fellow brother Mighty Spearsman very concise indeed. I was in Jakarta for 1 night and don't have much time to check out the places. The next time most likely I like to check into Travel Hotel. Can anyone give the telp numbers? Thanks

The Mangga Dua area is in the northeastern part of Kota, the oldest part of Jakarta, in the northern part of town.

First, you are not all that far from Atrium Mall, if you are into mall-hunting. The malls at Mangga Dua might also be good for mall-hunting, don't know.

From the Novotel, you can easily go down to Jalan Industri Raya, heavily discussed on ISG by Asian Rain, me and others. Somewhat low-end, best for an inexpensive quickie.

From there, head west over to Jalan Mangga Besar, where you'll find Hotel Travel down a side road, TC Spa at Lokasari Plaza, Olympic MP nearby the Lokasari Plaza, Patra MP and some other massage places also mentioned on ISG. Someone recently posted several photos of this area taken from an airplane.

Continue west on Jalan Mangga Besar and you'll reach the intersection with Jalan Hayam Wuruk. You'll know it because a Mercure Hotel will be to your right at this corner. Turn left onto Hayam Wuruk. One short block on your left is a side alley where Kartika and Berlian Spas are both located. The landmark is the Suisse Bakery on the corner (good "kelapa" or coconut buns here). You should also be able to see signs for both MPs from Jl. Hayam Wuruk.

If you don't turn into the small alley, but instead you keep walking past the Suisse Bakery, the next alley on the left includes Mongo Mas Spa and a couple of other MPs rarely mentioned on this board.

Keep walking down Jl. Hayam Wuruk for two more blocks; in front of you will be the stairs to access the Transjakarta bus station. Left of the stairs is a bland-looking mall with a great cafe (Ooh La La) on the ground floor that is open 24 hours and has lots of interesting black-and-white photos of Jakarta on the walls. To your immediate left is an alley which quickly leads to the infamous Stadium Spa and Night Club.

I've left out several other interestings places (such as the famous Beverley Hills Spa near the Kota train station, where you can have sex with a Chinese girl for 1.5 million rupiah), but the above should get you started. Be sure to also check out the Reports of Distinction board, also consider using JAD2's services.

Granted that ISG is mostly about organised prostitution and we've all played our part in ensuring the trade goes from strength to strength. Given a choice, however, I'd always go for the freelancers.

True lah, chasing freelancers leaves much more to chance and you're more likely to waste time and money than with pimped birds but there is something about the chase, the GFE experience (90% sure if you treat her well) and even a slightly dubuious moral arguement that favours the freelancers in my opion.

We've all heard stories of young girls being sold by their families, duped by vicious conmen, etc. Rather than deal with the guilt that comes with that dark scene, I'd rather encourage those birds out there who have an entreprenurial streak. In my opinion, Indonesia and Sri Lanka are two asian countries with more than the average asian country's share of free range ayam. Perhaps, Indonesia more than Sri Lanka (even though I'd had plenty in Colombo).

Perhaps Jackson will consider starting a new thread dedicated to mall hunting etc. Indonesia is one country that merits it!

I think you should define "free-lancers" and "mall-hunting" first.

Is a girl that daily goes to the mall/bar to be picked up, a free-lancer? Probably (?) there will be no mama/papasan to force them to accept any monger. But in my opinion, a free-lancer is someone that goes to those places irregularly for moonlighting.

Mall-hunting: is it a hunt when you go to mall's where those so-called freelancers are present and in fact are wandering in there, waiting for you to invite them?

To tell the truth, I go to the malls regularly to guide mallhunters, but I always tell them what my thoughts are.

Maybe we should ask for a separate thread containing reports about fucking amateurs?
I'll give you an example. I've been performing what my good friend JAD2 calls "charity sex" for some time now. The women are housewives or widows that need a good fuck . They don't charge anything, but as said before in this forum, sex can't be free: I have to pay the hotelroom.
It started with one lonely housewife and now others and merry widows share my phonenumber. I have to tell you though, that the majority of women that present themselves are 5/10 and most of the time, being in the age-group of MILFS, rather chuby. But, they are real amateurs and very, very GFE.

There are just as many "free range ayam" as ever. I agree with Ekspat who says the price has risen somewhat but I think that view depends to some extent on your "base" currency. You can still spend all night with a girl who would charge 250 USD for an hour in UK and only pay 30 - 50 USD (and get infinitely better "service" in every respect).

The pics below are very small and I apologise for thats the best my old Panasonic x300 (it was brand new then) could do back in 2004. But these two gals didn't ask for anything other than a good time and plans to go shopping the next day ("baby, I need a new mobile pone, baby"). As I remember it, we gave 'em about 200,000 rupiah each in the morning that was roilled up and slipped into their purse. Plus we gave another 50,000 each for taxi. been to JKT last weekend, but nothing much to report. Stayed the first 2 nights with my favorite regular. One afternoon through the bars in Kota, nice but not sensational. One evening in 30, but almost empty, most likely because of the muslim new year. Unfortunately I couldn't discover anything new.
But JKT has become pretty expensive in the past 1-2 years, isn't it? Or is it normal inflation?

Brandon88 - hopefully you'll find your way back somehow. I've stayed at 2 Ibis' near Sarinah and they were fine cleanliness-wise but small. They were very cheap. In fact I didn't stay overnight, I just used them to take back girls I picked up in Atrium who were so urchin-like, even I didn't feel like going back to Le Meridien with them. And believe me, that tells you a lot!! The service seems good. On one occassion I arrive with a girl and no condoms but I gave the doorman 50k as I walked in and within seconds he was at my door with a packet of 3.

If you are charging your hotel and can't justify two rooms at different hotels on the same night (not easy on the face of it), when you check out, ask for a receipt marked "meeting room" or "conference room", then you can say you took clients there for a meeting as there wasn't a room at the hotel you are staying at. The will be no audit trail (NB accountants).

M., if you're Malaysian, you'll probably speak the lingo, or at least understand some of it, which will make things quite easy and convenient for you... Just walk over to any girl you fancy and have a nice chat to her, you'll be surprised how simple it is. If any, stick fear of rejection somewhere no one can see it, in my experience most girls are well aware of the game around them - if they're not into it themselves.. have a great stay, cheers.

I stayed at the Ibis Mangga Dua for a couple of nights in 2003. From what I remember the room was not that big but it was very new and clean with modern facilities. Good value at the time.

XXL is right that Ibis has its own massage girls. I once stayed in the Ibis in Jl Wahid Hasyim (wouldn't recommend it - tiny tiny rooms) and after I had settled in I received a phone call asking me if I wanted "anything extra in my room". I was very tempted but at the time I had to go out to meet clients, so I didn't avail myself of the "extra services" but it was quite clear what was being offered.

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Ibis Mangga Dua? They appear to have very cheap rates, but likely a sh*thole?

Ibis is part of the Accor group so minimal quality is guaranteed. Ibis is one star below Mercure. Ibis has its own masseuses because I remember enquiring once in Mercure about one of my favourite masseuses and I was told she had been transferred to Ibis.

Also, that hotel is very close to Komplex Kota Indah (Pangeran Jayakarta) for girls.

Just got back from a few weeks in Jakarta (wish I could live there for a while)

Went to a hotel just north of Harmoni in Jl Gaja Mada directly opposite Dunkin Donuts. Hotel name was Malborough I think.

The Hotel has a spa on the ground floor and on the second level is a very modern bar where one goes after a spa or you can go directly there if you wish. The place is full of girls with several momasons. Prices start with local girls Rp350,000 (about 20 years old) including short term room (1 hour), then Rp500,00 - Rp1,000,000 for the very attractive Indonesian then Rp1,500,000 for Chinese, Taiwan, Vietnam or Russian girls.

Every night there are sexy Indonesian dancers that strip off and dance topless on the bartops. 9.30pm and 11.00pm - 30min shows.

You sit at your well lit table and the momasons will bring around different groups of girls you can choose from.
