Thanks for the illuminating posts regarding our favorite pursuits in Bali. I have just joined ISG but having lived in Jakarta for 3 years I am a hard player there.
I have had a few nights out in Bali, been to Akasara in Denpasar and a few of the X houses, even to the glass bowl massage parlor and a few of the Legian joints. Whilst its not Jakarta it seems pretty lively, as I will be living in Bali semi permanently from later this year, I have taken an interest in the posts. Keep up the good work and I hope some of the regular guys that live in Bali won't be offended if I PM sometime for some updates.

Happy Chappy it is really the luck of the drawer with some of the girls around at the moment. Tourism is back to pre-bomb so that means there is a lot more tourists here again. Also a lot of europeans are paying in euro and the girls are going crazy for it...

I'm a newbie to ISG but I'm already familiar with the Sanur scene.

One question: if I'm looking in Sanur for a 'more mature' (say 30 yo) girlfriend for a 24/7 contract over about 4 days, is there any alternative to just hanging around bars or visiting the ST places?? I can't afford to pay a girl Rp500k/day,and I've recently heard that when tourism was down in Bali there were friendly girls at the Hard Rock who were not unhappy to stay with a guy for not much more than nice restaurant meals plus drinks.

I agree with the prices and I have found the fee they charge is about 600.000 bar fine, it is far better to just wait until 2am when they normally finish. Thats also when you see the big influx going into the clubs when they don't pull a guy for the night at the karaoke.

I heard from a cabbie that there are more clubs like Akasuka in Denpasar, with even hotter girls, would someone shed some lights on the Denpasar clubs, availability of girls, quality, protocols and pricings?

I'm not sure I agree that akasaka girls are the hottest in town. Way too many of them do way too many drugs, it's got a reputation as a pretty druggy, sleazy place. And the women all have that resulting amphetamine-acne, which I find incredibly unattractive. Ymmv though, I know there are some lookers in the karoke place downstairs.

Anway, Akasaka is one of those discos where, as you say, you pay for the girl's company while you're in the club, and if you can negotiate a deal, you can take her home AFTER SHE FINISHES WORK. I don't think theres really any way you can get around that, without paying the bar a hefty fee. In the meantime, she's there to make you suck down the clubs expensive drinks, it's her job.

Imho, a much better club along the same lines, with prettier girls, brighter lights, (slightly) quieter indo-house music and earlier hours would be MUSRO in tuban. Though it's more a chinese-dudes-from-jakarta thing than a local thing, and is therefore doubtlessly going to be more expensive. For some reason the number "3 million" pops into my head! (for the girl that is, for LT sex, it's more like 150k/3 hours "booking fee" in the club itself) I'm not sure where that number came from. If anyone actually knows the going rate for LT at musro I'd love to hear it.

Anyway, if you want to "go local", I think your upscale karoke places like grahadia and maharaja often have much better looking girls than you meet at akasaka disco, or the clubs in kuta.

However, thery're set up for locals not tourists, and you have to know how the game works if you want to fuck the girls there.

So, karoke joints in a nutshell:

1) Remember, it's her choice whether or not she wants to fuck you. All she's obligated to do is to sing and make you feel good, the rest is up to your negotiating skills. If you're an asshole to her, or even just not fun enough, there's a good chance she won't go with you, no matter how much money you offer. It also helps to be a bit generous with the drinks, cigarettes, etc, without being stupidly so. The upside to this is that karoke girls, while being "bad girls" who will generally fuck for money, don't usually fuck 10 guys a day, day after day.

2) She may say no the first time, but yes the second or even third time you come. In fact, this is pretty much the usual way it works. Part of her job is to get people to come back and spend money at the karoke place a second tome, and she get's a (smallish) bonus for bringing lots of customers (and fired if she doesn't bring in enough) don't fight it, let it work the way it's supposed to. Ie. Don't make the karoke joint your primary way of finding a girl to fuck! Go to the karoke place, bring a guy friend and get 2-3 girls and a room. Relax, have some fun singing and drinking beer with everyone, flirt with the girls, after and hour or two pick one that you like that seems to dig you. Proposition her, but don't demand a yes. Then, if you don't get anything worked out the first time, get her name (write it down, maybe along with what town she's from) find out when she works again (*after* you propositioned her though, she *may* go with you first time so don't plant the idea in her head that you're definitely coming back again) and go to sanur or kuta afterwards to pick up a quick fuck and get your rocks off if you need to. Then, come back a day or two later and repeat the process. If she doesn't go for it after the second or 3rd time, you can ask her if she's got a friend who will (but don't do that the first time, give her a chance to come around)

3) No matter what, you'll have to wait till she gets off work, unless you want to pay the karoke place a hefty fee (500k-1 million)

4) Don't be a "mr. Thank you" at the end. These girls are professionals, so leave a bit of a tip when you're done, even if she doesn't agree to fuck you that night (especially if you're even thinking about coming back! ) 50-100k for the girl sitting in your lap all night, and maybe 1/2 that for the other girls in the room, should be about right for a white guy. Less and you're a cheapskate, more and you're a sucker.

I'm thinking of taking a holiday in late April. I've been to Thailand before (Pattaya, Phuket, BKK), and was considering going to Bali for something different. I've read a few of the posts here. But I was wondering how does Bali compare to Thailand? Is there much of a scene here? How does it compare to say, Phuket.

I like to do the touristy thing by day, and naughty things by night!

Given the stated purpose of doing things by day, Bali is quite nice. I don't find the girls quite as good as in Jakarta, but the surrounds are much nicer in Bali! 1Ball and Prof Designer have put out a lot of good info lately, so I'd peruse all their posts for a really good picture of the whole scene.

Nice report! I think living in Sanur is better than the Kuta area. Sanur is quiet and has available girls 24 hrs/day. Beach if you like to swim and closer to Ubud and other nice places to visit. Many nice restaurants. 20 minutes from Kuta if you want to start to have fun only after midnight.? Have a nice time!

Kuta is way too crowded and noisy. Every 5 steps there are some guys offering girls, massages, karaoke etc...Heard someone got taken for US$100 for 2 beers and a lady drink in Kuta, so steered slear of those touts.

I rented a car for US$30 a day, including gas and Made the tour guide and his driver from Bali Love. I wanted him to take me to all nice beaches scouting for nice hotels.

Nusa Dua has wide, beautiful boulevards, large, unpscale resorts and one shopping center, but very sterile, the opposite of Kuta. Did go diving on the reef 200 yards off shore and saw a lot of beautiful corals and fish which live about 10 feet below surface so you cannot see them snorkeling on the surface. Costed US$50 including a visit to Monkey island (not worth visiting). I know this Made was getting a cut from everyone he took me too.

The dive guys complained bitterly about the sharp drop off of tourists after the bombing last year. They are all hurting. They were showing nude pics of guys and were serious about doing sex or any acts for some money. Tipped him R50K.

Sanur has a few large resorts and a lot of mom and pop boutique hotels and guest houses, along a small street full of nice restaurants and bars, mixed with local life. It really feels like Bali here. I looked at 5 hotels/resorts. They are all in the US$50-100. Look at the Villa Shanti on the beach and loved it, nice room, clean sheets, A/C ect.... Struck a deal with the reception for R360K or about $36, including American breakfast. The hotel has a very nice garden with pool, resturant and bar right on its own private beach. Beach here is nice and clean, no vendors. This place is a very nice place and excellent value, highly recommended. Can take girls in no problem, can also use the side gate bypassing reception entirely.

Checked in, took shower, 6PM, Made took me to new *****houses. They are all in alley off the main road between Sanur and Kuta. Went a few places did not find anything attractive. Too early. They would come out later in the night. Went back to the first place and picked up Erika. She's a 18 YO, 5 ft Muslim beauty from Surabaya, nice slim dark skin with those African features, full lips, deep-set eyes etc...she was in the business only 2 weeks, very shy and did not say anything. There are no go-go bars in Bali (as in Thailand and The Philippines) and since 6-7 years you hardly find any street walkers. But in Sanur there are many "Houses of joy" and in the Kuta area you will find many free lancers in bars and discos.
