I usually hire a car at the airport for 1200 baht and head straight to Pattaya. Then I take the 400 baht mini-van back to BKK. Wish there was a 400 Baht mini-van going TO Pattaya.

why not simply share the cab with someone else ?
It's easy to find another passenger who just arrived and is heading to Pattaya as well. This has the nice side-effect of having a partner for a conversation and a potential wing man for coming adventures.

When in Bangkok, I have always taken the taxi or hire a car to take me to Pattaya, never considered taking the bus to Pattaya, so my question is where is the bus station to catch the bus to Pattaya. I tried looking in the maps but some of the website are down and the one that I did find I can't even view it. I will be staying in the Nana area, and was wondering does any of the transportation (BTS etc.. ) can take you to the bus station to catch the bus to Pattaya quickly?

Nana area--take the skytrain to Ekamai station --this will be the bus station also by the same name.
Depending on the time of day, bus leaves for Pattaya every 30min or 1hr.
Trip will take about 2hr 30min on average-with some traffic.
Price much cheaper than taking a taxi.
Only disadvantage is once you get to Patts, will need to take either tuk-tuk or baht bus to your hotel.

I've never used it, but am told that the Eastern Bus Terminal known as "Ekkamai" on Sukhumwit road is only about 50M from the Ekkamai BTS Sky Train Station, and that express busses to Pattaya leave every 30 min or so from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at a cost of only about 120 baht -- a much better deal than a taxi. The express bus from the airport is also a good deal but I can't take it because my flight arrives too late at night.

You can see the bus terminal from the BTS station at Ekkamai. An efficent service if you don't fancy using the taxi.

Really? I can introduce you to a few that have stinky breath. (both P4P and non P4P). And as for body odor, well, sorry again but some Thai women do not shower daily. They pour Talc over themselves to prevent sweat and odor.

And I'm not even talking about the men. Ever been to a public washroom in Thailand? Ever seen a Thai male wash his hands? 2 years for me and still not seen one wash his hands (and I'm not talking about quickly pretending to wet their fingers under running water. I'm talking soap)

If they have access , both male and female thais will shower two times a day - at least. Cleanest damn people on the planet and they do love to finish up with perfume and talc.

There is a bus from the Northern bus station that goes to Pattaya. I forget the name and soi but it is up Sukhumvit (away from Nana and Cowboy) same side as Nana. BTS skytrain will take you there, or very near to there. As for quickly getting to Pattaya via bus I'm not sure that is possible. From what I hear it is a slow way to get there, with many stops along the way. Maybe they have an express bus straight to Pattaya though.

Its the Eastern Bus Terminal is known as "Ekkamai" that is on Sukhumwit road and has buses going to Pataya. Ask Taxi to drop you there.
Strangely it is at BTS station "Ekkamai"

The Northern Bus Station is known as "Mor Chit" (not more shit)

There is a new bus terminal at the new airport. You can catch a free shuttle there. Not sure where to catch the shuttle, I assume out in front from where you exit arrivals. There are help/information desks around just ask and they will point you in the right direction. I took the Sukhumvit bus to Soi Cowboy once (well the soi across the street from Jasmine Plaza) and the same bus runs all the way down to Nana. They will stop anywhere you want basically along the route. Just make sure you are watching because they may pass your requested stop.

That's true. Farangs are not welcome. I have been to some Japanese clubs in BKK with some Japanese friends. They reason they don't want Farangs in their clubs is because they get stinking drunk and act like fools.
