just arrived home from 6 day first time visit to moscow.

fascinating city. had some old friends (married couple) living there and I had spent the first three nights with them. although it was nice and off the beaten track nothing to report here.

My friend, who speaks sufficient russian, did not want me to spend my last hours in Moscow in a police station, so he settled a bribe of USD 250 (he was not registered either) with them. Guess their starting price for USD 400.

We got away and entered NF. One of the owners, was a friend of my friend so he treated us in. Wow. Its worth all the reputation. Although it was almost 2 am and probably most of the cute ones were already taken there were lots lots lots of beautiful women. They were quite agressive too. Registration is no longer the mind-boggling hassle it once was. I used to use www.visalink.ru, which will register you for about 40 bucks for a month. I'm here with a work permit and so now my company registers me.

I enjoy the mixed blessing of living next to an apartment brothel (or "salon" as the girls like to call it) in central Moscow. I was just here doing nothing, so I just wanted to remind some good old things in Moscow around 1994-6.

So you all notice how the city is changed.

If you could not afford National or Metropol (expensive as today) you could get the suites at the Intourist Hotel (now it’s demolished, It was on Tverskaya just behind National), the corner ones were comfortable with A/C and all you needed, even a nice view over the Kreml.

Already at the bar in the lobby and in the sofa you could see some girls, just two or three, the real thing was going on at the third floor…
