On my recent visit to SD I came across a nice outdoor bar called La Base.

I have not seen the gentleman's club but La Base is definitely a gold mine for the non pro action. I stopped by and was the only american there. We met a few chicks from Santiago and proceeded to San Isidro and banged them into oblivion.

There was one girl, she just refused to allow me to move, because she wanted to do all of there work!

Did you stop by the Gas Station close by La Base, thats a good hangout as well.

Bottom line - this little tryst cost me P4340 or $150.29 US. Certainly a pretty good deal by US standards but a pretty bad deal by other Latin American standards. IMHO there are much better options available - in fact just about anywhere in L.A.....

If you just dropped in to the best hotel in town and paid what it took at the associated clubs I think you would pay at least as much in CR,Columbia,Panama or Mexico.

The attraction in the DR is the depth of the field. You can definitely find it much better and much cheaper, and you can find it all over the country. A lot of the chicas in those downtown clubs elsewhere in LA would be Dominicanas. This is the motherland.

If you eat in upscale restaurants, the produce will always cost quite a bit but it may not be the the freshest or the best. Go out in the campo and buy direct from the grower for the cheapest, freshest, and the best selection.

...the attraction to come to the DR. Okay, the girls are hot. No argument there. & the beaches are nice & the flights from the NYC area are pretty reasonable, but....

I was returning from a business trip to Pittsburgh & decided to stop off in Santo Domingo for a few nights. Selected the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel & Casino because I'm a Marriott wh*re & got a very good rate. Probably a mistake. Definitely NOT chica friendly (I'll post the policy when I get home & have access to a scanner). Well, ain't that great! Platinum or not, do deal. Only one I've found world-wide like that. If you're traveling single (e.g.: without the wife) I would strongly recommend you simply stay elsewhere, like the Intercontinental. too bad.

Important: take a cab everywhere or you'll sweat your balls off.

Ride from the airport was $35 US plus a $5 tip; no need to exchange there @28.87705 to the USD. Now I know.

Won a little bit at the Jaragua Casino. It's an okay casino, nothing better. IMHO I like the ones in Panama much better. Didn't see any available gals but it was early.

Headed over to the Intercontinental Casino & ultimately lost a little more than I had won earlier. Immediately hit upon by two obviously working gals playing $1 blackjack. BTW - no need to exchange your gambling money - they have chips in USD denominations as well. Wasn't quite ready, 8PM or so, walked over by the Mystic hotel to the little spot next door (The Girls House, I believe).

Nice atmosphere, clean, reasonably cool. I go to the bar & am immediately surrounded by the lineup. I ask if anyone can speak English, Angela Marie immediately pops to the top of the list. I buy myself one beer & her a vino & we head to the couch. She asks the door man to turn up the A/C 'cause I'm a little sweatball.

A little cooling down & grab-ass later & I confirm bbbj is okay & photos are okay. I pay the bill. P2500 for her and $450 for the drinks. Okay, I'm out P2950 so far for 2 hours --- like I'll ever last that long!

Check in next door & it's another P790 (not positive there, I was a little distracted).

In the room & to the shower - now I feel better. A little fun, DATY then on to me. Well, she lied about the bbbj but the cbj was nice followed by CG. She is genuinely a fun little gal. She used to work at a hotel for about $200 US per month now makes about P2500 per day.

We finish & I give her a P500 tip - in retrospect probably a bad decision considering the lack of a bbbj. Then she wants another P100 for a beer. Okay, who cares.

On my recent visit to SD I came across a nice outdoor bar called La Base. It has a sports bar theme. I understand it is part owned by an American, which I mention only because the service was great. Never had to wait for another beer.

They have the hottest girls waiting tables I've ever seen in DR- the hottest. On weekends they have a beach party theme and they all wear bathing suits. A lot of non pros seemed to be hanging around drinking and listening to the live band. Kinda like a Hooters, DR style.

I was only there for an hour, but the place looks like it has a lot of potential- lots of locals, and no tourists that I could tell. It is about a 7 minute drive from the Colonial Zone on Ave. Espana.

I saw a sign for a gentleman's club upstairs. Do any of you guys have more info on this place?

Also, does anybody know about getting two chicas into the Intercontinental? I know when I was at the Intercontinental Argentina, I could not.

I was staying at the Intercontinental a week ago. I booked a room for two and had no problems with guests. No $15 fee on the bill.

Most of the time I just walked in without incident. One time very late at night, I was asked by the front desk guy for my room number and he looked in the computer and made a copy of the chica's cedula. That same night, there were a bunch of loud, sad to say fellow New Yorkers, fighting with security over trying to bring in what looked like at least 5 girls (for three guys).

The night manager was handling it very well but refused to let them in. I would not try to bring in two girls, unless you bring them in during the day, one at a time.

Most of these hotels really do try to make you happy and stay out of your business. We should all be mindful of the image these better hotels try to portray. None of them want to be known as a cat houses. I've stayed at the Melia next door to the Intercontinental and managed to get a well dressed girl into my room during the day. I tried with an equally elegant girl the next night and was stopped at the elevator bank like I was a Al Quiada. Real uncomfortable feeling. Just walking into that hotel as a single man they make you feel like crap.

This type of information would be useful, and I urge anyone in the know to help here, as I personally don't like paying the casa for the services of the girl. I see no reason why the casa should benefit from her services to me, especially after they have charged my 300 pesos for a glass of wine!

A dominican colleague in Puerto Rico told me about Montecristo on Lincoln not far away from Kennedy. This is what he has to say about:

Monte Cristo: on Lincoln, Open Bar on Sundays -$500, good on tuesdays(ladies drink for free until 10pm), live music on wed or thurs, busy on fri and sat. A mix of Merengue, Salsa, Regeatton, and they might play some latin rock if it's not too busy. btw if the girls seem to paying an exagerated amount of attention to you, it's probably because they are working.

Cafe Trio: Lincoln and Tiradentes, good on tues (ladies drink free till 10pm), also busy on Fri, and Sat. Again quite a few working girls here.

Routard - as usual you offer a very reasonable, well-thought out opinion. You make some very good points. I feel that I kind of, outgrew Curacao and St Marteen - but everything you mentioned in your post is true.

Smokers Rule - The post your quoting from is from July 2006. I was back at the Intercontinental earlier this year (2007) and they charged me a $15 a night fee. When I complained the General Manager removed it from my bill, because he said "Sir, you stayed with us before and weren't aware of our new policy. However, in the future you will know that we charge a $15 a night fee for a woman in the room - for the convenience of our male guests"

Don't you just love that corporate lingo?

When I said "stop the double-talk its a money maker. How is charging me extra something being done for my convenience??"

To those of have been to St. Maarten and Santo Domingo. If you had to choose one as a destination. Which would it be?

While I agree with most what has been said by Ford, I would choose no doubt for Saint Maarten. It's by far my favorite island in the Caribbean, but I admit there are a few personal reasons for this.

The chicas in the Dutch West Indies are mainly from Colombia instead of from Dominican Republic. I admit again that it's a very personal opinion and will not develop too much about this, but I prefer by far the Colombianas than the Dominicanas.

But there are two reason anyone will agree about this.

First one is that the brothels in DWI have a complete legal status with similar laws as in the Netherlands. In DR, the casas de citas are not supposed to offer sex on site. Therefor there is a better control over the girls in DWI including weekly medical check.

Second reason is unlike in DR, the chicas in the DWI are on a 3 month contract, far from home and family and without any pimp or boyfriend. A TLN in Saint Maarten is a real TLN, the chicas stay till 11am and won't leave you after a couple of hours in the middle of the night as they need to go back home to take care for their children. On the contrary, the chicas in SXM are grateful to be out of the brothel's hell for a while, be treated like a woman and have again their self estime back. Most have never done that job before in Colombia or elsewhere, they simply try to earn as much money as possible for 3 month far from home. They are homesick and need love. If you are looking for GFE, this is the place to go.

To those of have been to St. Maarten and Santo Domingo. If you had to choose one as a destination. Which would it be?

St. Marteen is similar to places like Curacao, Aruba & Trinidad in that these islands provide "camps" or "professional" houses where girls primarily from the Dominican Republic and Colombia go and work, while typically on 90 day visas. As such, the girls you will meet in these places are mostly professionals.

These girls have (out of necessity or circumstance) been forced to work "in the business" full-time and they find this type of dynamic, comfortable, safe and often profitable. Unfortunately, as a result - these girls tend to become somewhat indifferent and much less gfe!

Places like St Marteen, Cuaraco and Aruba are best for "mongers" that are either new at this game, are handicapped by their language ability or need a "mainstream" tourist destination to act as a kind of "beard" so they make the trip with their wife or significant other - and leave her back at the resort while they indulge themselves at the "chica houses" alone.

I prefer Santo Domingo. It is a considered by many to be one of the premier "monger" destinations in the western hemisphere - while at the same time- serving as a legitimate International business destination.

Too, it has both "professional" public houses as well as thousands of girls between the age of 18-30 who will make themselves available to foreigner's either for money of for pure passion!

I think in large measure the answer to your question lies in your ability to communicate comfortably in the Spanish language. Without a working ability in Spanish - you may find it difficult to thoroughly enjoy your vacation in St Marteen. However, without a working ability to speak Spanish in Santo Domingo you will [sadly] be totally lost!

If you decide that St Marteen would be the best choice - may I offer an alternate location. You should also consider the island of Curacao. I've been there 5 times!

It is scenic, maintains its European style, is outside the hurricane zone - and has the famous camp - Campo Alegre. A camp that typically houses 175+ women all-year round. Check out the Curacao thread on this site also - it has alot of great information.
