There needs to be a hotel thread in Vietnam. Far too much of the same old conversation over and over again, which hotels are GF... Majestic, Caravelle, New World, Hyatt, etc. Same old answer, none of them are, go to a mini-hotel. For new guys here it's fine, but the same exact conversation so many times here on this topic.

I finally managed to shift my stay to the Majestic and man it's half the price of Hyatt. In Majestic is a spa, any ideas if there's extras here?

I will be in HCMC tomorrow and heard it was raining!

Never tried the massage at Majestic. Massage places in HCM give you baggy shorts to wear at all times and expect you to change into them at lockers. At the Grand (down Dong Khoi 100 yds) I have been able to wave the shorts and lockers away and go straight to room. Service level is hit and miss depending on provider and there is no line-up to choose.

Bar29 (old U2) is in the same area and has comfortable lounge seating upstairs and a semi-private room.

There is another bar near there calling itself hard rock which is a dive.

Apocalypse is at 2 C-D Thi Sach. Not my first choice of places, but it is what it is.

Majestic is not GF. If your company is paying for the Park Hyatt, I'd stay there. Location is better, as is the hotel.

Check the site for the Ho Sen Hotel mentioned by Poppasan. It has a map on the front page that shows the big hotels and its own location. Everything on this map is a five minute walk.

The Majestic is on Dong Khoi at the corner at the river end. It is an old colonial style hotel - not sure about GF but it is close to Bar29

You can also stay at Ho Sen on 4 Thi Sach. Which happens to be right next to Apocolypse, where all the girls are. You want action, walk around there and someone will approach you. If its a good looking girl on a motobike, smile at her and she will pull over. If it is some guy, tell him to bring the stock. They will come with 5 girls in 5-10 min for you to pick. $30-40 ST. And Ho Sen is girl friendly. Just pick a girl and walk back to your place.

Was just there last week. Had a wonderful time. Miss Vietnam already. Damn I need a job over there.

I see the Ho Sen is linked to the Ngoc Minh on Dong Do. Ngoc Minh has told me $28 for a front room with a view but Ho Sen (from their web site) seems to be a little more expensive. Poppasan - what did you pay for what sort of room?

I am thinking of shifting digs because the receptionist girls where I stay now are giving me dirty looks when a bring a gal back. That's the trouble with being there too often and getting too familiar.

The Park Hyatt is definitely not GF - my understanding is that they will not even let you buy an extra room for the gal.

There are ST hotels but security is a potential issue. My suggestioin is that you take a rooting room at one of the cheap hotels on Mac Thi Boui or Dong Do. A cheap small room with a bed and bathroom will be about US$20.

Or give the Park Hyatt a miss and stay in one of the GF hotels. Balcony room for $30 plus.

2. where can I source for cute girls?

Keep your eyes open as you walk the streets. Smile at them and say hello. You can also try the bars on Hai Bai Trung, Cao Ba Quat and Mac Thi Boui. Also Bar29 on Dong Khoi. Keep a hand on your wallet.

3. if so how much for ST or LT?

About VND800,000 for ST and VND 1,000,000 for LT plus whatever you do for a room. But you will have to negotiate.

I was just there last week. Same price..same service..extras is always depends on who you get.

I wonder if any had tried Rona and can give feedback (massage quality, options, fee). Is it stil opened, where is Huynh Thuc Khang exactly.

Ky Dong massage changed their price last year, I think its 150k and 300k for VIP room. Haven't been for a long time, any info?

As far as massage parlors go, I find them a total waste. Not just the fact that you can't pick the girl, and you get a room with a window in the door to protect against hanky panky, often not even walls, but a curtained-off room like in a hospital where anyone nearby can hear your every gasp, but also the fact that the girls are usually (in my admittedly very limited experience) tiny girls, maybe the profession requires tiny girls because they can walk on your back without killing you.

Far better to go to most any hot toc. As soon as they see a westerner they almost always say "Massage?" But in a hot toc, you can see and choose the girl. Lots of pretty girls in hot tocs. The hardest part is trying to look them over from outside while they are all staring and smiling at you and pressuring you to come in, and everyone passing by outside is staring at you, fully aware of what you're up to.

What a world. This IS 2007, isn't it? The medieval popes still rule.
