    Oprey De place

    Champs,

I have no first hand info about that place but read something about it at another site. Since it's not allowed to post links to competing sites I have sent it to you by PM.

    Champs,

I stayed in the Sawasdee Pattaya accross from the MK Metropole on Soi Dianna. It is a fairly low end place as is the one 2 blocks over on Sio Bulau Sawasdee Siam. Lots of teribly drunk Russians and low end folks. It was stupidly cheap, 400b over Christmas. The suoerior rooms extra cost was for a mosquito net, nothing more. My understanding is that all of the Sawasdee Hotels are low end but great value if that's what you are looking for.

It's now my third day at Oprey De Place, it's just a great relaxed nice hotel.
I can sit with my laptop at the pool, the wireless works, they have a great little food place on the premises, people are very friendly, at night its quiet, security collects the IDs of the girls I bring to my room at night, but other than that, no issues at all.

I will definitely stay there again.
Thanks for the heads up Frankfurther,

Do you know if they have a web site for the Oprey De Place???

I am comming in October. Was thinking about the LK Metropol but now forget it. Would like to see more info on this new place.

I have been doing more reasearch on hotels now and saw the sawasdee seaview (the new wing) good price with the special going on. Any thoughts on that hotel?

    Thanks again,

    LK Metropole

I didn't want to say anything till I read your last post. Played golf with a guy who was staying there, he said it was the worst shit hole he had been in in Pattaya, nothing worked, internet, shower, he was really pissed. Glad the truth has finally come out. Charlie Place, just up the Soi Dianna towards 3rd road was very good last year, no breakfast, but Dianna Dragon is right accross the street for 100b. Friend of mine stayed at Oprey De Place last month and was very impressed.

    Screwy business: LK Metropole

Although it isn’t long ago that I recommended LK Metropole, during my current stay in Pattaya they tried to screw me:

    Here is what’s happened:

-I requested a quote for a 12 day stay by email.
-I was quoted 15,125 Bht. For a Standard room, internet and breakfast included(Which is compared to their internet rate not a bad deal.)
    -This was confirmed by them.

After I got there they tried to jack up the price to 20,000 bht. I showed them the print out of their email, still they wouldn’t budge. “Sorry, sorry, we made mistake.” BS.

What kind of a business is this? I will never again set foot into this place, nor in any other of their establishments.

Actually, they did me a favor:

I walked down the street half a block and booked a spacious, tiled, super clean room, balcony, internet, pool, fridge, AC for 650 Baht. The name: Oprey De Place.

Thank you very much, LK Metropole A**holes for saving me the equivalent of a daily barfine!

Richard - Have you looked at the LK properties?

LK Metropole and LK Royal Suite have very nice apartment style accommodations. They are not right on the beach though.

LK Mansion is always booked up so I have never actually seen a room in person but it is not the same caliber as the other two places.

Sorry I am just reading the rest of this thread now . . . LOL, I guess we are all thinking alike. I think the LK properties won't have a problem with one guest at a time but if you plan an orgy - best be more discreet.

    Sheraton Pattaya

I have never had a problem there in 3 stays.

I prefer the deluxe pavilion with the large balcony/sala and the 2-4 person terrazzo bathtub. The hotel is located away from the nightlife so some kind of transport (car/bike) is useful.

The best advice for entering, especially if you have multiple guests, is to bypass the lobby. I usually rent a car and park in the undercover carpark - this way you walk past to your room while never being near the lobby. As the clientele here expect a certain standard, I try not to take diffeent girls to breakfast, but as with all 5 star hotels, they dare not question a guest.

I would like a better alternative to this hotel- price not an issue, but have yet to find any other quality aprtment or hotel in the area. Any ideas?

Joe; I stayed there for 1 week and had no problems. It's a nice place in a good location. They have an entrance right off of beach road, and walking street is a short walk.

    It Travel,

I never had any prob taking more than just one girl back to my room.
If you like them to take the ID of your "guests", just tell them at check-in. You may also keep the ID yourself and lock it in your in-room safe.

    Frankfurter,

    minor correction :

There is no LK Metropol Mansion but only a LK Mansion (which I don't like, had a look at their rooms).
Actually there are different LK's in Pattaya, LK Mansion, LK Metropole and the LK Royal Suite.

    LK Metropol

    I agree with the Traveler:

I stayed at the Metropol two years ago, nice gym, excellent location, good service, (and: no cockroaches).

Be careful, though, when you book the LK Metropol Mansion, which is on the same block, just around the corner, same compnay like everything else on this block:

Their suites are very nice, tastefully furnished in a Thai/bali modern style, guest can use the hotel's facilities (pool/gym/lobby tea, newspapers etc.) as well.

    But be aware:

The two Karaoke bars/shacks across the street are VERY noisy, unless you are out and about til 2am.
