I respect you opinion and I have enjoyed your posts - but why would you put this "newbie" a way out in Costambar Bay, in the middle of nowhere?

I'm not a big fan of BB's (although the food is pretty darn good) but why would you recommend that Rodeo should have to go thru the hassle of getting a driver and "hoofing" it all the way back to Sosua?

Do you really think there is something "on the menu" at BB's, that with a little effort he wouldn't be able to develop in Sosua on his own?

If he's going to "do" a one stop shopping vacation - tell him to go to Curacao, he'll "hook-up" a few Colombian super-models there.

Yes, I would stay at Blackbeards near Puerto Plata, where you will get most of what you want. Then get a taxi, or rent a car and driver and go out to Sosua on some nights to get the rest of what you want.

Its going to be Sosua. Your going to be "paddling against the tide" with your limited Spanish everywhere in the DR, but for the rest of your criteria you will be most successful in Sosua!

Can I ask you a question? Have you considered any island other than the DR for your upcoming trip? Why are you stuck on the DR? Do you have some special hotel deal, airline special, recommendation for a friend? Because, there are alot of other (fairly reasonable) alternate options available to you in the caribbean. Have you ever considered Curacao?

Its certanly not the exact same, but in Curacao - English is spoken widely on the island, there are many girls working there that come from other countries (Colombia, and at times Jamaica, Venezuela, Cuba) there are alot of Dominicanas working down there that are packing some serious "booty's" and the "walk around" vibe at Campo Alegre is fun and enjoyable.

Just my 2 cents, you should consider it. In the DR, you should start in Sousa.

Avenida Venezuela is a great place to head on a Friday/Saturday night. There are several discos on the strip (Latinos is my favorite), open air restaurants, and the Palacio movie theater.

Nevertheless, even if you were Dominican, which I am guessing you're not, YOU DON'T GO STAG!! Avenida Venezuela is a great place to go with friends or on a date (no hookers please); however, if you're just trying to score with a girl who isn't a Haitian hooker, you would be better off trying to get the digits of a waitress at some "piano bar" in the capital.

When you find a girl you like, TAKE HER HOME!!! Remember how you got to that address. I don't care if you have to scribble the directions on the back of your car rental agreement, just do it! If you're not good with directions, take out your digital camera and take photos of the house, the intersection, the restaurants, anything that will help you remember, because if you don't, you may never see that girl again.

Funny, I have never had that experience in my life. In Boca Chica, Sosua, San Pedro de Macoris, and Santo Domingo, I go to the girls homes, meet the mother, the baby, the cousin, the best friend, the neighbors...

The mother isn't stupid, the neighbors aren't stupid, if they don't know that the girl is selling her pussy, they at least know that the girl is looking for a foreign boyfriend. Yuck, sounds awful. Nevertheless, I was in Boca Chica just four-months ago over Semana Santa and the beaches were so packed full of people (hookers too) that the streets leading to the beach were barricaded to prevent car congestion.

I guess that's the difference between Boca Chica and Sosua. Boca Chica is a Dominican beach, serving the 2 million people that live in the capital, while Sosua is for the tourists.

BTW: On that trip I hit the South and North coast. Classisco's was jumping the weekend before Semana Santa and El Jeffrey, the "international" merengue singer, put on a great show there that Sunday night.

I was at the Hilton last week. The place was a GHOST TOWN. I stayed at the Renaissance Jaragua as I normally do (you can't beat the rates), but the Hilton is so nice and new, my girl and I decided to walk down the Malecon and hang out there.

WHY WAS THE PLACE SO EMPTY? We went to the Sol y Sombra bar, and we were the only two people there.

Whoever tells you that the Dominican Republic is NOT seasonal is full of shit!!!

I will never return to the Dominican Republic (South Coast) in July. The heat is unbearable and there is no cool breeze coming from the sea. The tourist areas are deserted and the hookers are in "hiding." Nevertheless, in August, when the Italians take holiday on the South Coast, the atmosphere (not the weather) changes. There are good months and bad months, good weekends and bad weekends and good days and bad days to visit the DR.

When I see "Travel Announcements" that begin on Sunday night and end on Friday afternoon, I say what a waste. When I see guys booking trips to the DR (South Coast) in the middle of Hurricane season, over Christmas, or in July, I say crazy (sometimes I say cheap.) Unless you have a strong network of friends in DR and are traveling with others, go during the peak periods. Personally, the best two weeks of the year to visit the Dominican Republic (South Coast) are "Semana Santa" and "the week before US Labor Day."


BEST WEEKS:

The only drawback is that for religious reasons, the discos are closed over those days. If you love the discos, come the weekend before or better yet, bring a radio, some friends, and move to the beach party to the hotel pool.

US Labor Day Weekend. It's not great because "some" Americans travel to DR over the holiday, it's great because it's the last weekend before many Europeans return home. After 2-4 weeks of whoring, every Euro dude will try to live it up his last Friday and Saturday in town.

WORST WEEK
Christmas!!! Followed closely by New Year's (JUST DON'T DO IT!!)

WORST MONTHS
1. July (Why? HOT!!, Euros Haven't Yet Arrived)
2. September (Why? Hurricanes, Classes in Session, Euros Just Left)
3. January (Why? Everyone's with Family, Sea is Cold)

Some Words of Advice: A Dominican Republic vacation should be like a trip to Las Vegas. You come for a weekend to party, then head home. You don't go to Vegas for 2-weeks and you sure don't do the same in Sosua or Boca Chica. Get a full weekend (all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) of sun and sex, then head home Monday.

Spent 4 nites at the SD Hilton last week and of course did some mongering at the girl house. Took a few out but one of the hottest is China (see picture).

Standard for TLN during prime time is 5000DP. This girl promised no problems and yes to everything except anal - fine lets go.
