If you are not really particular about hotels, Xmas and NY would be a great period to visit, but be there 1/2 days earlier.I say this because on Xmas eve, there's always a great street party-like atmosphere along the whole of Soi Cowboy. Ther are FREE buffets and BBQs placed outside of many bars where anyone can partake in. Every joint is lit up with coloured lights and decorated with hundreds of balloons giving the place a great festive spirit. Most of the ladies working in the row are dressed either in red or white or both, many with party hats.

There's even a S C, a farang whom I understand is a resident of BKK, who appears every XMAS eve without fail, passing out chocolates to everyone that's around every hour on the dot from 8 pm.

And when the clock strikes 12, ........., I guess you know the drill.

The streets of Bangkok do get a little quie around New Year but it won't stop me. I'll be arriving on Dec 26 and staying first 2 weeks of Jan.

LOL! Bangkok is nothing like the road kill road hookers you find in the states or other westernized countries. You can travel up and down Sukhumvit, Ratchadapisek, etc. and find lot's of 7's and 8's. I'm a strict grader, and don't give out 9's and 10's generally, and the road kill road hookers would grade between 1 and 3.

Go to the Super Soapies, Go-Go Bars, Coyote Clubs, Gentlemens Clubs, Night Clubs and you will find what you are looking for. Of course, that's provided you like Asian woman.

I can tell its your first trip to Thailand. Prostitutes in Asia are NOT what you imaging them to be in the West which is crack heads hanging out in dark alleys off the sides of roads getting into cars.

However I would like to say that I'm missing European style escorts. I mean its not fair to compare a 1500 baths girl with a 1500 euro girl for the overnight. But in europe you can find raffined escorts, girls who are delivering something sensual, girls who are pleasant to invite to dinner because they've been around, they are educated. I am suprised that no one mentioned about the Siam Coffee Shop, at Siam hotel. This is thai place and my exp. , over years the girls beat the NEP, SCB or PP hand down. This is typical thai pick place. I came to know only after a few yrs visitng BKK thru BKK contacts wrking in the company. Specially the last week of month you come across all type of working women. You need to know a thai as 99. 9% canot utter a word of english.

I understand you not wanting to spend the Christmas season alone, but just about any holiday destination in Asia will be as bad around Christmas/NY. It's not that you'll have a bad time, but you have to pay more for a good time, no matter where. Religion doesn't have too much to do with it - it's simply the economics of high season and peak demand.

well, lbm finally arrived back home the other day. arrived at 11:05am in the gate and since i was near the front i was able to get out quick. did my quick walk to immigration and had my bags and was in taxi by 11:30am to hotel nana which i arrived a little after noon. (damage 350 baht with toll and tip)
checked into hotel, quick shower and was out the door to do some business across town by 12:45. the location i was seeking took me much longer than i anticipated and ended up walking in the hot sun for a few miles. that really kick my ass!

Is this a bad time to visit BKK and/otr Pattaya? Is the selction of ladies much less than usual? Given that LOS is not a Christian nation, per se, I would hope that it wouldn't make as much difference as in the Phils. Anyone been to BKK or Pattaya during this time period? What was your experience like? Harder than usual to find good talent?

I have spent probably 7 Xmas/NewYears in Thailand and it is a blast. I usually spend it in Phuket (was there during Tsunami at Xmas 2004!) but Pattaya is just as good. Bangkok will probably be ok also.
