no need to be paranoid, but there is a (reduced) risk (compared to unprotected intercourse) of getting HIV via DATY.

The saliva isn't a good environment for the HIV virus due to it's ph value. On the other hand you may have microscopic injuries at your gum, allowing the virus to pass into your blood stream. Bottom line is, avoid unnecessary risks, better safe than sorry.

If I would be you, I wouldn't be too concerned but would test 3 months after the incident for peace of mind. In the meantime practice safe sex with your partner and avoid DATY with a P4P in the future.

Saliva has certain levels of Virus protection is true.
People should not unduely use mouth wash which can get rid of the benficial saliva. I use Non-alcohol mouth wash as Alcohol has the bad effect of drying up natural saliva somewhat. So best not to drink tequila or other strong liquor immediately before DATY also. I am talking about risks of picking up viruses/bacteria of any type.

Risk is probably less than risk of normal sex protected by condoms.This doesn't mean its impossible, just extremely difficult.

Although some studies believe HIV transmission orally occurs in a low percentage, they are mainly assessing risk of receiving sperm in the mouth.
I beleive that DATY has a much lower risk than girls swallowing come juice which already has a fairly low risk.
