I agree that Shanghai Bar is a waste of time. I went in and sat down. None of the girls bothered to approach me. And no I'm not some hideous old man - I was the youngest customer in the bar. At least in the other "friendly hostesses" bars it's easy to pick a girl you want to "chat up". Shanghai seems to be popular with do-gooder English teacher and charity worker types rather than mongers. If I want to spend my time chatting up Khmer girls there are millions of them outside the "friendly hostesses" bars who are much better company. If I want P4P I'll go somewhere without all the bullshit you get in this bar.

I can confirm this- took a girl from Shanghai bar twice with pretty disappointing results. Martini or 63rd Street is much better.

I stayed in the Himawari Hotel-Apartments for three nights in January and enjoyed it very much. It's definitely upscale and overlooks the river. My spaceous studio included a small kitchen, tv., internet at no extra charge, and an outstanding breakfast each day. Two monogramed cotton bathrobes in the closet were appreciated by the ladies. Not sure if I'd want to have breakfast there with my overnight guest however. They attract businessmen and familys. They are very guest friendly..don't ask for any id....no problem. They may ask which room you're registered in when you go up the elevator...which is in a fairly quiet and accessible part of the lobby. They always called the room to make sure everything was fine before letting the girl leave. Very courteous. In room safe, outdoor swimming pool, indoor recreation room. You can easily walk to the Palace grounds from there. Cost was about $128/day, but if that doesn't bother you, go for it. See their web site for pics and details. I would stay there again. Had been booked into the Bougainviller, but cancelled that after reading about the loud ongoing construction noise next door and the owner's lack of friendliness.

Yeah the Shanghai bar is one of the worst. I was there a little over a year ago. It has a nice atmosphere, and the girls are pretty, but I never had any luck at taking them out. I even spent my last night chatting one up, buying her drinks, etc. and when I asked her to come back to the room with me, her response was "I never go with customer."

Stay away.

Yeah, I was at SH bar in November, spent a good part of the evening and early morning there. It seemed that the girls only wanted to be barfined to go dancing. They were also very pushy for the lady drinks. There was no sign of them willing to back to the hotel for P4P. Didn't return to SH because of that.

We've stayed at the Intercontinental very good but quite expensive. A good alternative is the Sunway Hotel very clean and spacious rooms, some with balcony, internet available safe in room and very girl friendly, when we took a girl back which was most nights they didn't ask for any id but when the girl was leaving they would ring to make sure everything was ok before she could leave.

Have also stayed at Phnom Penh Hhotel which was ok again very girl friendly but feel the position of the Sunway is better.

Only had bad experiences with SH girls. Would not worry about it again. Happened more than once that the girl did a runner even before the hotel. They seems to be looking primarialy for boyfriends.

Wow thanks a whole bunch. Over here in USA, I love the asian women, and have been with several, OK. MANY! The younger ones seem to be more energetic, but lack the skills usually, the older ones tend to be more fun, but nearly as firm.

I prefer the smaller spinner types, LOVE the flat chested ones that shave below. I see many pics on here and it seems liek most girls DO NOT SHAVE their pubes but do shave under arms etc. I also see some small breasted girls but they seem very hard, and almost like a fake tit job. my company, a hotel chain is sending me over here, and i have several questions if somebody can help me out. as a newbie please don;t laugh.

1. are these girls in the bars only or in the streets like usa?
2. what is the legal age for intercourse?
3. is the trade(prostitution) legal?

1.. all of the above. walkabout and sharky’s are large freelance bars. at walkabout you will find girls 24/7 it never shut. you will also find freelance in martini’s and heart of darkness discos.

there are many hostess bars all over pp where there are girls available but you will have to bar fine them and will be hit up for lady drinks.

for street walkers go to hun sen park where you will find plenty late afternoon. you will also find them at riverside and 51 st up near sorea market. you will find them in the shopping centre if you have an eye for girls walking aimlessly around.

on 271 street toul kork and 63 rd street (careful scams are rife here) there are shop front knock shops. go pick, fuck and leave. some with very good selection. if you look around you will find similar cheap shops all around the place. after a while you will notice many advertise 5000 riel this and that.

there are several brothel bars. mikado, cyree and sophies to mention a few. the concept simple. sit have a beer – in sophies have a bj with your beer – pick and retire to a room either on premise or just next door.

2. – if you are paying for it 18 years is the only safe option. you can be prosecuted in the usa for doing a girl under the age of 18 so don’t.

3. – no prostitution is not legal and neither is providing premises for it. the penalties are harsh as the fellow from listerine bar found out the hard way. it is however tolerated so take it easy. stay away from ****, pay the girl what you promised to pay her beforehand and you should be ok.

4. – as above – some care with taking pictures, but don’t be paranoid. don’t do **** stuff, be discrete, get away if there is trouble and unless you have been really stupid – there is nothing a bit of money won’t fix.

Can anyone recommend a decent hotel in Phnom Penh?

I've used the River Star (not Riverside) twice-its cheap & Clean, but VERY basic and not my style. Been to the Bougainvillier twice, nice but NOT Girl friendly (they demand girls ID card and bribing is both expensive & embarrassing).

Interconti was okay but costly, $1000 five days.

I do need Internet (willing to pay extra) and a safe in the room; the hotel should be girl friendly and preferably around Sisowath Quai. Anyone some idea?
