Yes all bars are closed due to National Elections, until midnight sunday march 2nd.

They're closed because no alcohol can be served.

But personally, I find this is great because the girls are waiting everywhere for you, including the bars, where they just sit around in the dark waiting for farangs to show up with offers!

It's great. You pay nothing on drinks and just cut to the chase!

The next night I went back to Nana and hit a few different bars, not being too enthused about anything I was seeing. I decided to go back to RB4 and see if anything else there caught my eye. Well, she was dancing right on stage just inside the door, spotted me the second I stepped inside and made eye contact. She immediately came down off the stage and over to me, wedged herself between my legs and put my arms around her. (she took MY arms and placed them around her, I mean) She was being about as warm as I've seen any girl behave in that bar. After a few minutes tonight's offer came: I go to your hotel. "OH, I thought you can not?" Well, she can. I ask if she can go LT? "No, ST." "Oh, well, hm, I don't know." Then we start negotiating time, she says until 12 (it's 10pm now), and I'm not too interested in that. Then she says ok until 2am for 3000. At this point a mini-mamasan comes over and inserts herself into the negotiation -- She says 5am is LT, she can go until 5am. A bit weird that this one has taken over like this, but I go along with it and the deal is made at 3000 until 5am.

So, we go back to the hotel. We get in bed and as we proceed, she seems to be rushed and I say "I like slow." to which she says she doesn't like slow. Grrr. Anyway, this time I take more control and keep the pace at my own. Eventually we get to the main deal and finish up. At that point she got under the covers and turned on tv, while I relaxed next to her and then dozed off. Awhile later, maybe 45 minutes? she says ok she wants to go now. "You sleep, I go." It's about 12. Now I'm sleepy and not exactly desiring another go this second, so I say OK but you go now only 2000. She says 3000. I tell her that was if she stayed until 5 o'clock. She then said "no, not 5 o'clock, five HOURS" -- Uh, well, its now just 2 hrs later. So knowing that her ST fee is 2000, I just say OK I pay you 2500, ok? She frowned (!!!!) and agreed. She made some remark about how now she would have to go back and work in the bar again to make enough to pay her tuition fee tomorrow (between the lines: that's my fault). I said, "oh, ok" in a nice way, still friendly in tone. She seemed slightly displeased but still polite-friendly. And then she left. I'm sure she ended up getting her next customer and 'made her tuition'. The compromise felt like the only one that was going to be peaceable on both sides. Any less and she would have been pissed off, any more and I would have been.

Now the problem with a girl like this one is that if it's 10pm and you want LT, she knows she can finish you in less than 2 hrs at 2000baht ST (or in my case, 4 minutes), and then get another customer after you for 2000ST again, or even for 3000-4000 for LT. So it's absolutely not in her economic interest to do LT at 10pm. Of course she has to be pretty sure she can get the next customer if she goes back, and I'd say for this one that would be a pretty safe bet. She looked much more like a Japanese girl than a Thai. So in my situation, after we'd done it the first time, now she was looking at having to stick around my hotel for 4-6 more hours for just 1000 baht more, missing out on lots more money to be made back at her bar. Not going to happen. And I can't really blame her. If that mini-mam hadn't jumped in (forcing a deal on us that was more favorable to me than the girl wanted to give), I might have been able to work out a good deal with her -- for less than LT but longer than ST, which may have worked. Then again, it may have been inevitable that she would have pulled that move after the first go.

I would have told her here's your short time rate, now if you want to go go to the go-go, go and thanks for the saved money. Although all the factors you have mentioned about this girl add up to her being a ladyboy. Tall and thin works in rainbow 4, aggressive, gives bad service and won't take no for answer. No offence meant but I'm sure others will agree that rainbow is 50% ladyboy sometimes.

Yesterday my actual LT girl told me that all bars are closed. I didn't checkt at walking street or soi 2/6/7/8 but around Royal Garden Plaza the most bars were closed, or at least no music played and no alcohol were sold.
Today it should be the same. Can someone cofirm that?
Well for sex, it doesn't matter for me, since I have that girl from Bangkok. She worked usually in Hong Kong, met her in Tunnel disco in Bangkok. Also, other mongers will not starve too much, I guess. Since at the beach road were still alot of girls.

A few times I found myself in go go bars that had a waitress or 2 who were hotter than the girls onstage. One was Hollywood Carousel on the top floor of Nana -- there's one tall thin one there who's the hottest girl in the place by a safe distance. What's the deal with those? I mean, I'd think if she was available, she'd be up on stage. It seems like if you work as a waitress, a lot of guys will presume you're not available, so you'd get fewer offers.

In another club at Soi Cowboy called Spice Girls there was another one who caught my eye - and in that club the waitresses wore numbers just like the girls onstage, which kind of gave me the idea they would be availalble.

I've not had a similar situation arise since, but I think I would be less confrontational should it happen again. I think I would probably pretend to take a call about a serious family crisis etc, etc, 'Here's a few hundred baht, velly sollee. Goot luck, blah blah'. Anybody got any other opinions?

I'd be tempted in that last Nana situation you told, to just cut her loose without paying anything -- she can just walk across the street to her bar and get back onstage, so it's not like she's lost anything. But yes, then there is the social situation and also the fact that you may want to return to that bar later and be able to pick someone up there, not be labeled as the Farang from Hell. Then again, if a girl is that blatant, the other girls must realize she plays the prima donna act, and wouldn't take her too seriously.

I guess the way I'd handle it also would depend on how eager she seemed in the bar. If it seemed like she was aloof and just agreeing to it without any enthusiasm, then I'd cut her some slack because she probably was going along with a deal she wasn't too keen on. I've also had the opposite, a girl who was very seductive before (Angel Disco) return to the hotel to turn into a rudely aloof corpse, making it clear this whole thing was completely tedious to her. (That was back in 2003, and I see she STILL works there. Saw her in Nana parking lot at 2am one night. And I'd seen this same girl there in 2001! She always wears a bob hair cut, usually bleached a bit, nice face -- from Laos, and says she was once in some Thai film as an actress)

On this past trip, I went to Rainbow 4 and was approached (when leaving the men's room) by a girl I'd had my eye on for a few visits -- she's the tall and thin one. There are a few like that there, but she's the distinctly tallest and thinnest. Anyway, she said Hi, what's your name. I asked her if she wanted a drink. She came over to my table and pretty soon cut to the offer,which was for ST only and only upstairs. LT? No, can not. Well, within a few minutes we were upstairs and about a minute after that we were getting dressed again to go our separate ways. I think we had sex but it all went so fast I wasn't completely sure. My condom was filled, so I guess we did. Anyway, the fastest 2000 baht I ever spent.

Your right about not being confrontational, I had problems with lots of lazy girls in hua hin and threw easy 10 of them out on my last stay there. In the end I decided to not bar fine anyone and just picked up girls walking back from working at various bars. I found that some girls would just wanna get barfined. I could never judge whether they just wanted to get bar fined and then it was down hill from then on. I did used to get confrontational but never again, they'll spread loads of shit about you if you upset 'them, this time I'm going to be cool as a cucumber and make it my business to see if I can palm off the most horrible of leaches who pester me for a drink nicely and without telling them to xxxx right off! It's war! Thats why I love the beergarden and thermae and Bangkok, there workers and have there heads screwed on, no money no eat and I kinda respect that. Ok you've got have your wits about you in those places but I had stuff stolen from my bags by the room cleaners at my last hotel in Bangkok so it goes to show it don't matter who the person is theres a chance you could be robbed, the only other time I was robbed was by a bargirl I had barfined and I caught her red handed with money from my wallet hidden underneath her bag on the table in my room, after I had fucked her she had to pick her bag up, I must of disturbed her as I came back from my shower and she didn't have time to bag it, it was the exact same bunch of folded notes I had received in change from the chek bin at her bar. Them little terrors eh! Anybody got any good stories about being robbed blind, because this wasn't one.

Leo your advice to Gren62 is somewhat blasé, there are more foreigners leaving Pattaya in body bags than the Thai government would have you think!
One doesn’t have to look back too far & see when the last mugging or robbery went sour.
Not to mention the road accidents, unsafe airlines, bombings, unsanitary food /hygiene, drugging, kidnapping or the odd coup just around the corner.

Thailand may have been perfect 15 years ago but things have changed – Stay alert.

Leo you can probably add southern Thailand to your list at the beginning with Iraq, Afghanistan & Pakistan.

i have some experience in thailand, not nearly as much as a lot of people here. but i've had plenty of experiences like that, of one variety or another. it does seem to me that the girl is doing it because she thinks i'm new at this and don't know better. if you think about it, they probably get lots of customers in that category, maybe enough for them to use scamming strategies like that pretty standardly. they're probably successful with it often enough to try to use it as much as possible, if they sense it might work.

a friend of mine said he would talk to the girl beforehand, and say ok if you leave at 7am, you get this much. if you leave at 3am, only this much, at 1am this much. this way if she tried to pull something, he'd be able to say ok then you only want this much, that's what we agreed on. i guess you could also talk to the girl earlier about what lt means exactly -- like can you go as many times as you want, or does it mean just twice, or what. it certainly doesn't ever mean just once, so just by asking that question, you'll get the girl to confirm that you'll get more than once. otherwise they can stand there in the morning and claim that lt means until the morning regardless how many times you had. and they will have had practice perfecting that speech, and all the attitude and gestures that go along with it.

my first trip to thailand, about four years ago, presented me with some of these difficulties: my first ever thailand pickup (an absolute stunner from nana's rainbow 3) left at about five or six in the morning without offering a second pop, but i was jetlagged at the time, so couldn't have cared less. how would i have reacted without the jetlag? i've often thought about this. i barfined several girls subsequently from nana plaza (i was staying just around the corner at majestic suites) and had one fairly bad experience with a girl who had a very pretty face and great tits. i paid the bf after about a minute of talking with her and took her over the road to nana hotel's golden beer bar. it very quickly became apparent that she didn't like me to the extent that she wasn't trying in the slightest to disguise the fact. i was quite shocked by her behaviour, told her as much, and told her to go home. May is low season so you can pick and choose rooms, however FLIPPER HOUSE is very popular and often booked-up even in low season, they do have a great, rooftop pool. There are several hotels that are part of the EASTINY chain, also with pools, on soi's 7 & 8 They are clean, well appointed and reasonably priced.
Transportation to Walking St is by an endless chain of "sawngtaows" travelling the loop of Beech Rd./2nd Rd.: ten Baht.
If you want to stay close to Walking Street, The P72 HOTEL is directly across from LUCIFER'S DISCO, has decent rooms in the old wing for B600-800 and deluxe rooms in a brand new wing for B1200-1500. For some reason they don't have a website. Tel: 03 842 9291

I always stay at the Flipper House on soi 7 and have never had any problems. The only thing lacking is an in-room safe, but they have safes at the front desk.

Definitely stay on Soi 8. Only cost 10 B to catch ride down to Walking Street. There are a couple of good hotels right on Soi 8. I usually stay at Sunshine 1200-1600B but cheaper 850B at 2 hotels that run down street in front of Sunshine between Soi 7 and Soi 8. My mind is blank right now and do not have cards with me but one is a British place (Pig and Whistle?) and other is something like AFN. Can not miss if you just take road from front of Sunshine on Soi 8 to Soi 7. If you really need I can look up for you and send.
Soi 7 and 8 are right next to each other. There are several go go bars there. The one next to Beach road on Soi 7 has a jacuzzi show. Run by a younger mammasan from Bangkok that is real funny and lot of fun. Girl cost ST 1000 B plus bar fine 600B. The biggest problem with go go bars the bar fine is usually always 600B plus cost of girl plus drinks and if LT then add food cost. Then problem getting them to leave in morning. Always have an exit plan ie. "I need to leave for tour so leave." If not they want to keep you on string making money. Remember you are the ATM machine so you run the show. Also if you are wanting anything in particular agree in advance. Do not get to room and then get turned down for anything but straight sex.
Personally I think Walking Street is turning kind of boring and lots of ladyboys.
If you want something quick and easy hit Lollita's for a qucik BBBJ for 700B. They are located on street behind Mike's mall. For price kind of takes the urgency off you.
And for whatever it is worth part - always kiss the girl before you bar fine. I have found if there is no real response or passion it will be the same in the room.
Try to change your thinking from how you think back home. A lot of these girls are lucky to get a ST or LT 4-6 times in one month. The less effort you put into it the better you will do and less it will cost. Not like back home where you have to wine, dine, and beg to get anything.
