For the lao wai among us, is this suitable territory for those who do not speak pu tong hua?

I would not know because I do and hence right away always use that.

I pretty much doubt they speak any English at all. Never asked, but it will be highly likely. And I do imagine this to be a problem given if one does not make clear what is expected for the money one easily opens up to a lot of "lost in translation" mumbo-jumbo.

To know for sure though one not speaking Chinese would need to try.

If you tell me the exact location of you and Wudouko will even give you the exact prices to these places.

Had been to Beijing on two occasions recently. As the majority of you I think that the closing of Maggies is a huge loss for the mongering scene in Beijing.

I was not believing all the reports so.probably as many others- I was cheking all the "old" locations with the well known result. Don t waste your time and money.

Then I called several massage services where I find the numbers from the internet- google for "beijing massage" with the typical result. The majority of the numbers didn t response and where I get conneted they are asking for RMB 1800/h, which I was not willing to pay.

In Bar One, which I find a nice place to have a drink, one the bargirls talk to me and made clear to me that the bargirls are not for taking out. I wasn t willing to believe it, because I saw several men sitting together with young ladies, but when I left the place I saw a potential customer outside was not able to convince his spouse to leave with him.

The only alternative I found was Absenta in the Russian quarter near Ritan Hotel. Quite a selection on every evening, but the quality was more 4-6, but in every respect better than Hollywood, which I don t like at all. You will find there a lot of male decent people from all around the world, just talk to them and you can monger together.

The girls are not so easy identify for a newbee in that place, because the better looking girls are sitting on tables the whole evening. One possibility to attack is the dancing floor where they are from time to time or just pass by and smile at them when they smile back they are probably working girls. The majority of them come from the ex soviet union and go for RMB 800/h or € 100/150 for 2h. I can recommand a blond 24 year old blond from Kiev, sorry I forgot the name. I think all the girls around the bar are definately professionals.

The Treasury Island still is a good place for a drink and maybe more, but once again it is not easy.especial when you are alone- to go to the tables where they are sitting.

Just some info I wanted to share. This is a KTV therefore needing some Chinese skills

I have been in the Bar Area at the old Sunshine Club KTV which has been recently rennovated. The KTV rooms are quite expensive for one person or small party.

When I arrived, I asked to sit in the Bar Area similar to the one they used to have long time ago. My table charge in the center section was 380RMB and this covers your drinks and/or food. I arrived about 830pm and the stage show was about to start. At the same time, the Mami I knew brought me some girls to choose from. Most of the grils to choose are quite pretty and tall. Well, it meets my taste. Sitting fee is 500RMB (usual Sunshine price I think).

I can also sit and not choose anyone. Which I will consider next time. Its because, there is then a Model Show (can see most of the girls who work there) at about 11pm to 1130pm. And then I can choose from there. Yes, some might already be with someone else. So, I can remember the Model's number and tell the Mami, either for next time or.

So, overall, it does costs some but for one guy, in my case, its much cheaper than, getting a KTV room especially at a place like Sunshine. And its an option for when I can't organize with friends either.

I am glad to report that Liulichang（琉璃厂）not only sports the usual assortment of cheapa-cheapa tourist junk but also one neat barbershop close by.

For those really new to Beijing: Liulichang is one of these touristy streets made look Old Chinatown sporting one souvenir shops besides the other. It runs East-West crossing Nanxinhua Jie（南新华街）pretty much in the middle between the subway station Hepingmen on Qianmen Xidajie（前门西大街）to the North and Zhushikou Xidajie （珠市口西大街）to the South. Or just look it up in any Beijing tourist guide.

To get to the BBS just walk Liulichang Eastwards to its very, very end where it forms a T instersection with a North-South running hutong. To the North the alley runs straight for some time. To the South it just bends around the corner to again head East. You don't go North but instead around that little bend and you are already at the BBS. It is literally just around the corner of Liulichang.

Prices quoted were 150 to 200 for FS and the shop is a bit bigger than most others I usually drive by. I.e. with rooms upstairs instead of just a bench behind a curtain.

While in that general area I also came by again the BBS in what I believe to be Qianmen Xi Heyan Jie（前门西和沿街）, probably the last successors of the old Eight Alley Red Light District of the Qing Dynasty:

Business there seems to go on just like a few weeks ago when I was in the area the last time - though probably a lot less so than about 100 years ago.

The BBS near Liulitun（刘立屯）I reported last time though seem to be scheduled for demolition slowly. A few on Yaojiayuan Lu have already been torn down and others have been empty the other week. Let's see if this will effect the entire Tianshuiyuan（甜水园）area or not.

Regarding the Goose & Duck: no idea if any P4P there (I doubt it with what I read on here so far about the place) but I noticed that I actually live close by there now. So in case anyone goes there over the next week and likes to meet up, PM me and I may show up to socialize (less so to monger though).

I might be staying there shortly and was wondering if this place allows practice of our favourite habit. Apologies if already reported, but a search of the forum did not seem to find the answer.

Also, is there anywhere nearby which might be a good spot to find some fun? It looks like the Otani is close to the Sofitel / St Regis area, but im having trouble with the scale of the maps Im looking at.
