So now i'm really questioning whether or not to head down to Cost Rica for Labor Day weekend. Next thing you know, they'll be shutting down the Del Ray. These politicians are really trying to ruin my holiday weekend. Somebody bribe these idiots already....

police units raid 13 more locations for prostitution
by the a.m. costa rica staff
the security ministry initiated a sweep of brothels thursday. all 13 ended up being closed by municipal officials because the businesses lacked a license or had an expired license, officials said.
some were decidedly low-budget, catering mainly to working class costa ricans. but some, including the the pirate club at avenida 10 between calles 12 and 14, were known in the expat community. also raided were the venerable idem and a firm called eros on calle 9 between avenidas 8 and 10, according to a reader who saw police there.
idem, almost a tourist attraction, has been in business as a so-called pension for at least 30 years.
officials did not supply a list of those places raided, but they did provide photos, including some of the pirate club. that location rents rooms for $30 to $50 an hour, according to its web site. it also says it offers "therapeutic massages for both men & women."
immigration agents detained 19 women and a man who were believed to be in the country illegally. they are being investigated. they are colombians and nicaraguans.
the lead agency in the sweep was the ministry's dirección de investigaciones especializadas. agents were accompanied by fuerza pública officers, the policía especial de migración and members of the policía municipal. july 25 it was

y seguridad pública photo
fuerza pública and municipal police await the results of an inspection of the pirate club.
the municipal police that headed raids on four brothels in barrio amón.
most of the places raided thursday styled themselves as massage parlors, according to the ministerio gobernación, policía y seguridad pública. some advertised themselves as a pension, a latin version of a rooming house.
officials also said that some businesses were dispensing alcohol without a permit. the raids took place all over the capital city.
agents said they were attracted to some of the businesses by their suggestive signs.

Posts: 333ZB will reopen on labor day, according to Eddie. I do not know about the others, but many are still closed. Still plenty of lower-end places open.

Posts: 157What's up with the MP's??
So I'm headed down to CR Labor Day weekend and I'm wondering what the status is on Zona blue and the other massage parlors? Hopefully they will reopen by then. Anyone on the ground in san Jose heard anything?

Lot of girls from the regular MP'S closed by the authorites for "repairs" are driving down the prices at El Ray, SL and NY Bar.
Its great to see the colombians quiver.
This $100.00 a pop to play is for the brain dead.
And the cheaper girls are more fun and open.

Posts: 11Good place for regular girls
If you like to party and meet some regular girls People Ultra lounge (calle Uruguay, beside Greenhouse) has a nice upscale crowd, good music and dancing. I was there last night met a few nice girls, 2 of them dropped me back at my hotel in their SUV and I'm having drinks after work with one today.
Also tonight I'm checking out Kraze-950 (calle Uruguay, beside Gauchos) with one of our Panamanian Managers, I hear also great to meet regular babes.
I will check out La mayor, maybe tomorrow.

The scene at Habanos is pretty good. I arrived in Panama for the first time last week. I went to Habanos and I felt like I was in Medellin, almost every girl was from there, and a few from Cali or Pereira.
Prices are steep, 150-$250 per hour. But $100 can be negotiated. A colleague of mine got 4 hours for $100!
Lots of girls at Veneto too, I pulled out a girl and carried her to my place at LAS Vegas for $60 for an hour, but it was late (3am) so I guess she figured better a little than nothing. I will be here til the 13th for work.
If anyone else is here pm me I speak perfect Spanish, a few of you guys might remember the old Chewbacca as the resident jamaican in Bogota, from another monger site. Here I am now rockin' Panama.

With this late notice, I doubt you will be able to get a room at SL, DR, or Prez. I would try Castillo or Amistad. They are both very close to SL and rather inexpensive. I suggest joining CRT for more information, as well as getting a VIP car that will pay for itself in a very short time in San Jose. The only problem is, it is probably too late to even get your VIP card what with Zona Blue being closed right now.
Good luck on the room. But the three hotels you mentioned get booked months in advance.
I would not be concerned with the news. Another report has 3 of 4 of the MP's on Calle 6 being closed today. The news was not there for that raid.
WT69,
I don't have first hand knowlege, and will not until Labor Day, but most of the guys on another site feel this is a temporary thing and, once the show is over and the news moves on to something else, that everything will be back to normal. Zona Blue even plans to be re-opened by Labor Day weekend.
