Just curious. Anyone know of any good books - fiction, non-fiction, biography, etc that deal with the 'seedy/underbelly' side of things in Thailand/Bangkok - MP's, Go Go's, Nana, prostitution, sex trade, etc?

I was in Bangkok last night have a drink at soi 7 beer bar didn't see any thing good mostly skank at 9 pm head back to themae , I was staying at ruamuchatt plaza hotel saw a hottie smile at me I ask where she is heading she told me Nana disco she just came out of thermae so we head upstair for ST 1000 bht very GFE stay 2 hr very good pick up as most girl at thermae now want 1500 bht min for ST.

Can't believe I watched the whole thing. These Danish guys are famous for their long winded productions. The girl who had the four "boyfriends" and had to choose which one she wanted. Was not even worthy of a good peanut. Guys who sponsor and leave deserve what they get. It doesn't work. As soon as you leave she sees a way to get more money. Even if you are paying for her room. Don't do it. Peace.

Had laser whitening done a few years ago at the Silom Dental clinic. Cost about $200. Not exactly a magical transformation, but I was happy with the result (but then I'm British...). A bit sore for 24 hours, but OK.

Veneers are about the same cost and they make a mold of your teeth and apply it with some type of permanent bonding or so they say. Not sure about laser whitening or veneers.

I read that one of the issues with this procedure is the fact that the whitening will disappear with time and discoloration will return. Has this been your experience?

I don't think the whitening disappears so much as the teeth gradually discolor anyway. Too much red wine and coffee...
One tooth was previously badly stained, but now they are all even. So I will probably get it done again in a couple of years. Cheaper than having my car serviced...
Also went for general health check at Bumrungrad, but that is a longer and much funnier story...

I did not really know where to post this so.

Last spring I BF'd a living doll from Cocktail Club on SC. Upon arriving in the Nana parking lot it was a zoo (Friday night.) I noticed a huge group of people standing around looking at something. There was a farang man of about 60 years sitting up against the side of a car. He had been terribly beaten. His entire head was covered in black-red blood and he was barely conscious. My girl inferred that she believed his eye may have been dislodged from the socket and you sure couldn't tell from all the blood. I told her to ask another Thai what had happened and she translated back: "Thai man do" When I asked why my girl said "I think not pay bill. " I didn't hear anything more about it. I suppose there is an outside chance the guy may have died. This is a longshot but do any of you have any knowledge about this and what actually happened to the poor guy?

....not of this particular incident....but a common Thai thing is for 4-6 Thai guys to attack a farang.....even in some minor bar squabble type of thing. The idea of a "fair fight" has not permeated the Thai psyche....and once a fight begins with these guys you have to be prepared to fight everyone...and not just the one you consider violator. I have seen people beaten pretty bad (usually an old farang and many Thais on his back and kicking and punching at his face). Recently, a guy was killed in front of a Walking Street side soi bar....the Thai guy jammed a broken bottle into the farang's femoral artery. This place can be dangerous if you don't know the whole picture of how things work here. The worst part is that the victim might die...but the police investigating will be influenced by racism and pay-offs.....so the bad guys might never go to the penitentiary.

What is a good tasting alcoholic beverage in Bangkok?

I don't know how people can stand beer or wine. One looks like [CodeWord140] and probably tastes as bad. Sipping the other is like drinking vinegar, though there may be some consolation that it gets you there faster {higher alcohol content}. But wouldn't Kahlua be a superior choice to either of these, that is, if one likes the taste of coffee?

In Canada I was drinking apple or peach flavored cider at less than $10 for a 2 litre pop sized bottle, and it tastes about as good as pop.

Now in Thailand that seems unavailable, but I have discovered Bacardi Breezer which has a similar alcohol content to the Canadian cider {5. 6 vs 7%} and may taste even better. Cums in 5 flavors in local stores here, including 7-11's, namely Raspberry, Orange, Lemon, Lime & Lychee. Cost in Bangkok is about 50 Baht per small glass bottle, or $1. 50 CDN.

I drink the equivalent of about 1 Litre {4 bottles} a day for weeks and months and feel fine, so why do I read about medical recommendations to have no more than 2 drink a day? It's only when I have 7-8 in a night that I might feel lousy the next day, have trouble keeping my balance, and find to my surprise that I was in an online casino.
