visisted Sarcosa last week at around 3 pm. Busy as always and it took half an hour before I could see the girl. Not a good sign. There were 6 girls in total and none of the girls mentioned in the forum was available. I picked 526 based on tits.

After trying severaal sauna places in Shanghai, I headed to the SH hotel today after reading the nice reviews in this forum.

Easy to find, I went through the shower session and took the body scrub. Nice guy and atmosphere so far.

Then went to the special massage section, picked girl #25 and went to a small but ok room. She showed me a small menu, I wanted the red rope experience and this was listed on the right part of the menu. She said OK.

After that she massaged me a bit, had a nice BBBJ, but the annoying part was that she continued to speak chinese (and I cant), very irritating. Then we switched to a good FS. Thereafter...she rested next to me...then moved to another hand job. I asked for red rope, but she did not understand. I was done, left early, which she defintely did not like.

What went wrong? I missed out on the red rope service or dont I understand what this is?

Let me know what you think (for the people with red rope experience), what did I miss?

Sounds like she is just lazy. I have had girls in SH SN skipping on the rope. I don't care much for it so I didn't insist. The best thing is for you to either learn the word or have it written down (红绳 hong sheng). You should also make sure the girls take out the rope and fix it up on the bars BEFORE the session.

My guess is that the card was in fact the list of services that are to be provided. There is no need to select any. It is not a menu. You are supposed to get them all.

I reckon that when the girl realized that you could not read the card, she elected to cut some of the services that use the beads and the rope. The beads may have been for AR and the ropes may have been for hanging from above for the "red ropes" service.

In order to make the most of a sauna experience, it is important to pretend at least that you are a sauna veteran and know the score. It can also help if you give the girl the impression that you know the management and are a regular customer. This is because there are usually severe penalties for poor service. That said, if the girl knows that you lack language skills, she may not be worried about complaints.

Long time lurker [3ish years], but never had anything to contribute. Now that I am visiting Shanghai I believe I can. I'll try to address all the questions I had after reading the forums and trying to get practical experience.

BBS's: When in Beijing I would walk around the HuTongs looking at the small barber shops and wonder if this was a hobby location; I have since learned that the BBS everyone is talking about typically has only one, if any, barber chairs and its clear that hair is never involved. Typically they will have purple or pink lights and at least one, but probably 3-5, girls sitting around in club attire. [Note that one BBS I visited that had poor heating the one girl was bundled up like anyone else walking on the street].

You really don't need any Mandarin abilities at all, you can get by with just walking in. Pointing to the girl you want and follow her. Sometimes one girl will get up as you enter and start walking you back, but don't let that worry you, simply smile and point to the beauty you desire. They may ask if you want a massage in Chinese but just use the "rubbing invisible shoulders in the air" as an affirmation. Depending on the BBS you will either pay the overseer or follow the girl into the back. I have been asking about the price after were are out of view of the front windows, the ranges I got initially quoted in Shanghai are 100 [every time there is major up-sell involved], 200, 300, 400, 500. It seems to me if you don't haggle at the start you are just asking for up-sell later on. Haggling is easy, simply write down the number you want to pay. Make sure you will get the services you want, I found simply pointing at the pertinent body part will work fine, as well as a circle motion for everything. At this point, in about half the BBS's, a second girl will come in and they will ask [or gesticulate] if you want two girls for twice the price. Beware, if the place doesn't usually offer full service you will find it hard to convince your girl of choice to acquiesce when her friend is present.

Your now probably in a dingy, poorly lit, room that doesn't look very clean. If your at forward thinking establishment the girl will now be putting a doctors examination paper on the bed/futon/floor. Point of note. Notice the floor, see how its shiny? That is because they spit/throw everything on the floor during the session, including spent condoms. To that end, do not put anything on the floor, watch your step, and god forbid you want doggy.

Once your done, your done. Dress, avoid the pools of. Liquid. Pay the nice lady [you didn't pay up front did you? ] and leave. So far in Shanghai I have not been able to get the phone number of any BBS girl, and when I attempt to invite them to my hotel they simply tell me to see them at the BBS tomorrow.

Some guesses from my first few days here, if the initial price is only 100. The place is HJ only.

If the initial price is 200-300 then the girl will genuinely perform well.

The harder the BBS is to find, the better the service.

The average age of your BBS WG is about 30. There are young girls out there, just look through the window and go with your gut. So far, I'd put the ages that I have seen as 20, 30, teen, teen, teen, 30, 30, 20, 30, 20.

Sauna. I visited the spa Black Jack posted about, his directions are pretty good; Just note that, contrary to what the other posted said, construction has not closed the location down its just a little beyond the construction. Same building as "Shanghai #1 Restaurant".

Ally. Two guards who ignored me until I got to the elevator and asked if I was looking for a massage.

5th floor. Greeted [guards radioed ahead] and lead to locker room.

Locker Room. [I should point out I am rather portly, international shipping even; Thus I was putting off the ShangHai hotel for fear of embarrassing myself] Got a locker, undressed while 3 attendants stared, though they had the good manors not to talk =). Found out none of the spa uniforms fit, waited while they found one that didn't fit but at least went on. [If your one of the guys at the Sauna who saw the fat man with the shirt that wouldn't close. "Hello! "]. One of the attendants looked at my nails and asked if I wanted a pedicure, I said. Sure why not. Escorted to a room with two large arm chairs, the foot massage stools, and a large LCD TV.

The pedicure started; This may have been my greatest mistake of the trip. I did not stop him when I saw he was using the reusable metal tools. I got nicked and bled a little, now I am left wondering if he sterilizes his chisel [A silly question for China I know].

I was offered a drink at this point and I am asked if I want a massage. A few minutes later the mamasan brings in 3 girls. I was unsure if I could ask to see more, but, happily, the last girl took my fancy. At this point girl of my choice sits on my chair while everyone else leaves. [She says she is 20 years old]. I am unsure about next steps so I undo her top; this was apparently the wrong thing to do. After some inventive hand waving I understand we are just waiting until a room is available. Approximately 3 minutes later we are called to the room.

The room. Same easy chair, bed with strategic mirrors on ceiling, a sturdy monkey bar therein, and a large shower with water proof bed. Once we are settled the girl leaves to return wearing a nurses outfit, which she immediately removes. She unpacks her bag, in it there are; anal beads, rope, 3 cups, and condoms. A card is presented with 10 numbered list, I presume from Black Jack's post that this was the description of all the things that will happen, however I cannot read it and told her so. I am directed into the shower area where a soapy massage and BBBJ ensure. Once the mood is set, shower again, and move on to the bed. BBBJ fire and ice. On goes the happy hat, cowgirl, reverse cow girl, and doggy. Pop. She cleans up, lights a liquid bowl on fire, uses one hand to move the flames into her other hand; which is then used on my testicles. A interesting experience. Clean up again, shower, dress. Moved back into a double chair waiting room where a menu was presented to me and I was feed a complimentary dinner from the restaurant below. Rather pleasant. Mamasan comes in and asks if everything was ok again. Leave, dress in the locker room, and pay at front desk, 900 yuan total. Note you can pay with major credit cards, a rarity in China.

That concludes my few experiences in Shanghai. It has been a pleasure lurking for 3 years, and I hope this will be useful to some other newbie. I'm interested in doing the bar bit, but I don't drink and have yet to take the plunge. Although I've been actively reading the forum, it's been ages since I've last written a report. Mainly its because I've been mongering at the usual spots that have been mentioned and re-mentioned over and over again.

Last night, I revisited a sauna that was posted a long time ago. It's located on Nanjing West Road, on the same side as but 1 block west of Jingan Temple/City Plaza (jiu guang) Shopping Mall. So if you are coming out of city plaza, walk towards the right and go across the street (either via the underpass or the other side of the street). About half way down the block you will see a sign for massage, that leads into a driveway. (Note that there is actually 2 places, both with signs. The one I went to was the second one, so you will need to walk past the first sign). At the front of the driveway is a big restaurant. At the end of the driveway there will be an elevator on your left hand side. Take it up to the 5th floor.

It's probably been at least a year or more since I went there last. They renovated and now offers soapy in most of their rooms. In the room, the girl even shows you a standard menu (albeit in chinese) of all the different procedures she will perform, kind of like a checklist so they don't get lazy!
So pretty much everything you would get from other places, including red rope.

Selection was decent, more or less the same as the other places.

780 for soapy/ 700 for dry.

IMHO, for those fellow Members comfortable with going into "all- Chinese" neighbourhoods / places without speaking the language, negatives outnumber the positives: the place is a high-demand environment, and the girls know: high percentage of Customers not living is SH, hence low probability of becoming a regular customer to one particular girl. If someone does not come back,someone else will fill that gap. Service is adapted accordingly although keeping reasonable levels of consistency (this is China anyhow, and girls come and go frequently)

It is like buying your groceries in Wal-Mart vs. going to the neighbourhood shop: different service equation. If you're new in town, chances are that you will patronize W-M until you have discovered the little treasures in other parts of town.....

My first real post and first time in Shanghai... Probably nothing special for you guys, but a new experience for a young buck like myself.

Decided to check out the sauna after a few nights here.

Called the sauna line and a young guy picked up, said it was 580rmb for a Western massage, I said that wouldn't do and hung up.

Later went down to the sauna, and initially asked for an oil massage for 260rmb, mamasan quickly put me in a room with a massage chair but without a shower. After some commotion (they probably could tell I am an American although I am an ABC), they quickly transferred me to a room with a shower.

The girl they sent me was a little chub, and I wasn't that interested so maintained with her that I just needed oil massage.

She said I could shower first and we could get down to business so she watched as I took a quick splash.
I exercise and lift weights quite a bit and complained to her that I could barely feel the pressure from her hands. She increased strength threefold and went on for an hour on my backside. Later she said that she has never applied so much pressure to a client. I gave her shit for saying that and said that her local Chinese clients were probably just weak. She said for 500rmb flat she'd give me a BBBJ and I was too tired to argue so I went with it. Later realized I could have gotten that for something like 400rmb or even less.
After I said OK she upped the pressure from her massage as she could tell I needed a stronger effort. Kept trying to teach me more Chinese as I communicated to her in my 85% fluent Mandarin. Flipped me over and gave me a chest, thigh and groin massage. Asked very politely when she could start the BJ as she was getting tired, so I said OK. After she and I finished the business she kept complimenting my body as my wad shot all over fairly strong, and she said that my "shun ti duo hao" which means body is really great.

Showered and she dried me off. She left and got some cigarettes for me as I said I needed some. She asked if I liked Shanghai and whether she could give me some tours. I said no, thinking I wouldn't want a cling-on.

I'm confident they do FS as well but don't think I am all that interested considering the girl. I'd go back for another massage though. They've got over 20+ rooms and idk how many girls, although its a little slower nowadays close to the new year.

Noticed all the BBS just a few blocks North off Sichuan Rd. last night. Girls seem restless - all businessmen are starting to leave Shanghai for the Chinese New Year. Good opportunity for anybody who wants to wing with me in the next few days. Let me know.
