Oh well just to add a little more trivia before returning you to your regular program... The most formal Barong, that which is worn to a wedding, is the semi transparent type made of fibres of pineapple plant. It has special symbolic significance to the locals.

There's an excellent tailor here called Chardin, around the corner from the Apo View Hotel. This place has made me more than two dozen shirts, as well as pants and a suit and a few barongs, all beautifully done. The prices are quite reasonable, though it's probably the most expensive such shop in Davao. They have a wide selection of excellent cloth as well.

Go to Byrons in Harrison Plaza, 2nd floor. The owner is a dependable guy, has a number of stores, and does business with a lot of Americans. He travels frequently to California. Prices aren't the best - but they'll get it right.

I will be visiting both Manila and Cebu over the next few weeks. I know that this is not a mongering topic, but I am wondering about the tailors there. I bought some suits in China, a few years ago, and they were very good. Are Philippine tailors good? How about the prices?

Any recommendations?

The "barong" is the formal wear of choice here so suits are not in big demand. China and Korea are good places if you want plenty of choices.

Umm Frank. Most Filipinos will never wear a suit in their life. Never mind a tie. Except perhaps when they are being buried. As such. Don't bother trying to get suits made in Phils. Thailand is ok. But Shanghai is stilll best.

So I get to enjoy good PSE there (and in Europe) on a regular basis. Yet I like variety and as I said before sometimes my "yellow fever" flares up. I prefer short-time to long-term commitments. In between chasing women I like to do cultural stuff and hit the gym ..... during that time chicks tend to slow me down too much.

I was in two minds about whether to come to PI or not too. Mainly because I remember how wretched the food was 5 years ago. I'm nogt here in AC and the food seems to be a bit better now, thought still the worst in SE Asia.

The clubs in AC seem rather tame and aftera spell in Thailand not worth visiting. The girls on average are a notch down in terms of looks from Thai or other SEA girls, however there is a large number available and not too many punters and with a little effort you can certainly find some great looking ones.

I personally don't like the bar fine system here and in AC its not so easy to pick girls up in the street as the bars fine them if they are caught doing a "sneak out".

I went to Manila 5 years ago and thoughgt it was just too big and chaotic for my liking. Where the PI really scores is with GFE. In contrast to most of Thailand many of the girls here will be willing to hang out with you as long as you like and have an "all you can eat" attitude to sex, with many of them really enjoying it. The other aspect of PI that differentiates it from is the net dating scene. As almost all the girls speak passable English and are looking for foreign bfs the dating sites such as Dateinasia are 80% ful of Filipinas. Hi I'm in Angeles now and wil o down to Cebu on Friday. I was thinking of going from there to CDO and then overland to Davao and then back from there. There seem to be huge numbers of ready and willing chics online from these places. However a couple of long term viistors here have suggested that Dumaguete is a much more pleasant city to visit.
