I had a great time in Mazatlan recently that was made even better by meeting a Pulmonia driver named Natividad. Nobody calls him that though, he goes by "McCloud". I knew ahead of time that I wanted to try Tarrandas and Hippocampo. McCloud took me to Tarrandas and made sure I was taken care of. No cover, no expensive drinks for the ladies. He spent the evening there with me, flagging down the waiter to bring back a dancer that caught my eye. I went a little nuts that night. The first night of a trip in Mexico usually does that to me. I spent most of the evening with various dancers in the Privado booth. The 200 peso charge ($15) seemed like an incredible deal for the attention you receive in the booth. Afterwards, I told McCloud it was time to find a girlfriend. He took me to a nice *****house that was in a small apt. Building. By this point, I’d had enough to drink that I never did get the name. There were 6-7 girls to choose from, and a part Asian girl caught my eye. She led me upstairs to a clean room with a bathroom. We both showered, which was a relief from the heat and humidity. It ended up being a very nice GFE. She was very gentle and enjoyed kissing. I liked spending time with McCloud enough that I took him to dinner with me the next night. We went to an area downtown called Plazuela Machado that is a beautiful square with restaurants all around the perimeter. We ate at Pedro y Lolas, which was very good. Afterwards, we tried Hippocampo. It was less lively than Tarrandas and had fewer dancers. We tried a few different cathouses, once again the names escape me, that seemed small and mainly for the use of locals. The girl I ended up with was nice but forgettable. Congratulations on incredibly rare luck. 99.9% of the time those drivers are costing you more because to pay the commission fees they collect from bars and casa de citas, the owners pass on the cost to you. This means that you are paying 200 pesos extra at the brothels and whatever else at bars. When they negotiate fees for you for what girls do in the privados at the strip bars, they bump the price to clients for a generous commission to themselves. So if your report is accurate and not a posting made by a friend of a driver down here, you did very well. BTW--what was his fee for the night?

Since a driver makes a ton on commissions, they should drive you around for free but the most, if paying him, should be no more than 100 pesos per hour. Two song privados at strip clubs includes getting you off by HJ, CBJ or FS. Most freely give the HJ, some CBJ for that standard 200 peso entrance fee. The extra charge if there is one, is 100 pesos for CBJ and 200 pesos for FS. Anything above this and you are being treated like the stupid gringo and everyone gets a big laugh out of you.

So if and when you contact the above driver mentioned, be sure to quote all of those rates and be certain that he agrees in advance--although I doubt that he will. Also, if a driver ever recommends a bar called La Botana, dismiss him immediately as you are being set up for a major fleecing. This is a well-known local clip joint where you may receive service in the bar, you will pay ridiculous prices.
Standard prices for the casa de citas are:
700 pesos of which 200 must be paid to your driver and there is no way around this unless you go there without a taxi.
Recently, La Fonda and Tamaulipas raised their prices to 800 pesos and lowered their quality. Both are owned by two brothers.

The quality does fluctuate between the two clubs, Tarrandas and Hippocampo but at the moment, Hippocampo is holding the hotties. Tarrandas also now charges 30 peso entry Tues-Sat. At midnight, Hippo offers a three song privado for 200 pesos.

Also La Fonda casa de citas recently jacked up their prices and lowered their quality. Casa de Nayele is way better and cheaper.

I was in Mazatlan in June of 2008 and went to places in Zona Roja and Tarrandas. Tarrandas is definitely the way to go as the places in Zona Roja do not differ in rates from Tarrandas. The quality of women is much lower in Zona, and the safety concerns are much higher. Thankfully, I ve never had a problem, but if one is looking for trouble, that's where it could be found. Drug dealers, crackheads, drunken off-duty cops etc. Etc.

In terms balancing the value and a girl quality Tarrandas is easily one of the best stripclubs I 've been in Mexico, and I have been to quite a few. The girls are pretty, albeit speak no english, but since I learned spanish in my younger days, it really helped to communicate. 200 pesos gets you a 2 song hands on nude lapdance, and Supermonger is correct most of the times it does include a CBJ. Plus, the stage show isn't bad either, especially the girl who dances dressed as a bride and does a show with candles.

I only paid for the vehicle permit once (out of three times) while living in MX. No one else that I knew of(ex-patriates) paid for it so I stopped. And yes, the drive from Ensenada to Punta Banda offered nothing but little sh_t-fu_k towns similar to that of Todos Santos. As you already know, once you have seen one you have seen them all.

I normally do not ever give advice, but I would hope that your car has a very good alarm system. Even though you have insurance, if your car gets stolen you will be fuc_ed. It will take months to recover recourse and you will be forced to buy another vehicle which may or may not be able to re-enter the U.S.

It's admirable that you are driving to Panama(presumably solo)and I wish you luck. You are doing what I would assume no more than .00001% of all Americans have done or will do in their lifetime. I would do it in a second but I have a dog and a cat that I have inherited from an ex-GF that has kept me from driving or living farther than MX. It's probably all for the better as I've ventured into some fairly sketchy areas of MX and I tend to have a higher than normal tolerance for danger.

Hopefully, you will post trip reports of your journey. If you do, I'll be reading them.

Yeah, Cabo is one of the biggest rip-offs IMHO as far as hobbying is concerned. A REALLY fun place to party with friends male and female, but what a joke as far as ph*king is concerned.

In other words, should I pick up a latina in Ensenada, for example, and send her home via bus once in La Paz? Any suggestions on 'normal' bars in Ensenada or Rosarito where I might find a local girl who I can persuade to take on this adventure with me?

Since the economy is starting to tank down here there are lots of new girls at the strip clubs, Tarrandas and Hippocampo. Two song privados are two hundred pesos and now most girls are offering CBJ to be included. One hundred pesos is full service.

Azteca Massage changed their name to Mayan Massage and they still have a few chubbies who give no-touch-me HJs for fifty US dollars--no pesos accepted for this service. The other place, Moon Massage is more of a rip off. A few cute girls for a mediocre massage of mostly smearing a quart of oil over your back followed by "Turnover" for more of the same on your chest. They bristle at the suggestion of extras and two girls recently got caught stealing money from customers pants pockets while they were giving massages.

The best killer massage is in El Centro, called Palmas Masaje. Spectacular treatment and sometimes you can get lucky. I received lots of 200 peso HJs and occasionally a 300 peso BBBJ if the owner is not around.

If you speak Spanish, the best night club is Latitude in the Golden Zone. Plenty of mid-thirties very pretty single moms out cruising for sex with a gringo. Cheap beer and good music.

here’s an update since december

i went back to work in vegas, back in my cubicle, back in my lifeless jail cell; staring at a screen and hearing people ***** for 8 hours a day like a zombie. on my first day back to work from mexico i lasted about an hour and a half before i put in my 2 week resignation and went back to mexico. my tepic girl was true to her word and took care of me the time i was with her, a free place to stay, pussy and food every nite, but i’m a man in mexico and i was hungry for more. went back to my friends place in santiago (pop. 10k), went to my only stripclub in town, the one i call my second home from home. met this new girl that just started working there, very skinny tall black hair and green eyes, she was from mazatlan (ocean city pop. about 250k) and had two boys back home, like usually i put the charm on and she was in love with me within an hour, did my thing and she invited me back to meet her family and stay at her house in mazatlan.

you can only guess where i went to? guasave, bypassed nogi without even stopping, (i guess i got tired of spending at least $200 a night just at the clubs and stripclubs, and now i know some spanish i don’t need to pay those high prices again and i why pay in nogi when i can get it free w/gf experience south of nogi. and let me tell you this new girl i met wow, looks like a la model, high class, met her at a bar in downtown and again she fell in love, only bad things with this one she had 3 kids and was 25, she as a couple of inches taller then me and i never been with a taller girl before because i was never attracted to them but this one, was a girl that looked like a girl i used to work with in phoenix and fantastic about being with her and i knew i could never get this one girl i used to work with because she was out of my league but not in mexicooooooooooooo, they are ripe for the picking and its hard choosing which one you want to take back to the hotel that night, we spent the next 2 days and night laying in the hotel fuckin and going down to the beach in los moches, let me tell you i was in heaven, i could die now and not care, i could have been kidnapped and i would have told my kidnappers to pull the ticker; i didn’t care, i was in cloud nine all the way, it ended when she had to go spend time with her kids, i explained to her that i need to head down south to tepic and would come back in a week, she told me that she was taking a vacation down to pv and would meet up with me in a week, cool i though i would not have to drive back up her in a week.

i drove down to tepic and it was around 3 in the morning dark and foggy, i liked driving in the night it was a cool breeze no traffic in the cities and no people walking on the highway or chickens crossing the road lol. this was a awakening that now i will never drive at night. i took the wrong turn and instead of taking the toll highway i took the free highway and i didn’t not know how to get back to the toll highway, so i drove on the free highway until i can find a ramp for the toll highway, so instead of going around 90 mph for one hour and finishing 90 miles it took me 4 hours to finish 90 miles going through speed bumps and city but that was not the worst part, it was pitch dark at around 4 am in the jungle part of mexico, about half way through, i got pulled over by flashing lights, for an unknown reason i was under the speed limit and i heard about the stories from my friend about getting pulled over by corrupt cops, i swear i though i was going to be assassinate and dumped into the jungle, hell they could have threw my body 5 feet from the road in the jungle and no one would have ever found me for years, so the cop comes up to my window and starts speaking spanish really fast and holding his assault rifle, i explained that i didn’t speak spanish and was not understanding was he was saying so he paused for a minute, a whole minute seemed forever, so in english he asks for my id, i gave him my az d/l, he then asks for my car permit and if this was my car, i told him it was and gave him my permit, he looks at them for a minute and says nice car and give me this look that i felt that he wanted the car, that was i when i started to get nervous, i started to picture in my head getting stripped, shot and dumped in the jungle, the cop was standing there for about 5 minutes and says that he wants more id from me, so i gave him my passport and started to think, he is taking all my ids so when i get dumped in the jungle they would never know who i am, remember this was in the middle of the jungle no cars have passed by for 10 minutes pitch black and it was only me and the cop in the middle of no where about 30 miles from any town, the cop says that "your transmission is bad", i look at him for 10 seconds and say "okay, thanks" what else could i say i knew my trans worked perfect and nothing was wrong with the car, and i though how would he know that my transmission is bad if he hasn’t looked under the car or hood or even heard me putting the car in park, he says it again "your transmission is bad’, that is when i start to think hey maybe i can just give him my car keys and walk away from this, the only thing i lost was a sports car, while i was thinking that i might not die tonight, the cop tells me to get out the car so i can take a look under the car to see the transmission, that is when i though nope their going to kill me, blow my brains out when i am looking under the car, so i told him "no i'm okay" he signals with his gun to get out of the car and look under the hood, i felt like i was in one of those documentaries "locked up abroad" when they get kidnapped, so i get out of the car and i hesitate looking under the car taking my last breaths breathing in and out tasting the fresh air, thought about my family back home, never in my life did i ever appreciate breathing air, their were two other cops in the background which i didn’t see or hear the entire time the cop was next to my door, as i looked under the car i closed my eyes and paused for a couple of seconds which took forever, i was waiting for a shot or something, when that didn’t happen i opened my eyes and saw that the radiator had a minor small leak and it was wet with antifreeze, i got out from under the car and told the cop that it was the radiator and not the trans, he said okay and you can go, i was like what you scared the shit out of me for nothing, after that any other civilized person would have turned back around and gone back to the states but not me; i headed south, this was my mexico.

No, I have not been there, and have no plans to visit there. Thank you kindly for the offer.

Guasave holds a special place in my heart, head, and small head. The girls there are beautiful, plentiful, and willing. Los Mochis is close by, and the girls are equally as nice. Just a little north of there is Guatmas, Sonora. Great value there. It can be very hot and sticky there from May thru October, if that is a concern.

Tepic, Nayarit is only 2 1/2 hours from here and is a nice, relatively safe city. The titty bars are only so so, you must be willing to decline many gorditas and uglies. There are a couple of motels on the libramiento that will send 4-6 girls to you room to choose from. Expect anything from a 3-10.
