They know how to play the sweet girl next door role, but they are strictly there for the money. I would recommend CTG as a destination for a "vacation" with various venues to visit at night for very beautiful Colombianas, and is a good way to get your feet wet for the first time in Colombia, especially with limited Spanish. I would go back in a heart beat, timing my trip with "holidays" for university students.

    Fantastic report amigo!

As you get more comfortable, gain more experience and your spanish gets better, you'll find it easier to navigate away from the sharks and find the sweeties that you trully bond with.

I personally never negotiate the particulars beforehand with a chica.

Just kills the romance of it all for me or at least the illusion of it all.

I've gotten very good at feeling "the love" with a chica beforehand, in the getting to know ya phase.

If I don't feel the love or any bonding / chemestry, I move on quickly.

    Thanks again for the report!

Yes, the Capital One card works at very few places. It also works at Bancafe and AV Villas. It is a member of the Plus network.

There are some other cards that are more universally accepted and charge no fees. National InterBank is one.

Great report - more on ATMS

The other one near El Laugito was next to Block Buster video at Carerra Segundo and Calle Once (or Diez). This one would allow you to withdraw up to 700 mil pesos at a time.
All good information. Great report on a first trip to Colombia (I have only had 2 trips, so can still think like a newbie).

I take several cards with me. Some cards only work in certain ATMs. And most ATMs WILL ONLY GIVE YOUR 300k or 400K pesos!! Citibank usually will give you a million pesos. So to get the same pesos from another machine costs 3 times the transaction fees. And the Citibank ATM accepted more of my cards.

Cartagena Trip report: April 15-21 2009

This is my report to Cartagena Colombia from 4/15/09-4/21/09. Thanks to all the great info on this board as well as some helpful advice from another fellow monger, I was able to plan my first venture into Colombia. This report is geared towards anyone going to CTG for the first time, because most of you experts that have been to CTG many times may find this report basic and boring.

    Prelude

This is my third trip abroad for a vacation/mongering with my previous excursions to Panama. In Panama, I was able to get a feel for how far my Spanish would take me and after conversing (and playing) with some Colombianas, I decided it was time to venture into Colombia, with Cartagena being my first stop. After reading various posts, I thought this would be a good place to start and in getting a feel for safety and language issues in Colombia. Also, since I need some day time activities to fill the time (even if it is just sitting on the beach people watching), Cartagena fit the bill. I went Easter week and was afraid that it would be too crowded with Colombians who would be vacationing, but it turned out to be not so crowded and there was probably more of an influx of semi-pros into CTG from other parts of Colombia trying to make a few bucks during their "holiday" from the universities.

    Travel Logistics

I flew Avianca from Miami and it took about 2. 5 hrs. Good flight and I was impressed with the non US airlines. I would recommend sitting on the left side of the place to get a good view of Cartagena when arriving. Avianca is a code share partner with Delta and you can earn Skymiles points when flying Avianca (but I only found this out after and now am in the process of trying to get the miles on my account). Exiting the airplane in CTG is open air, meaning you actually deboard the plane outside of the airport building itself and then walk into the building. I’m only pointing this out to be prepared for the heat and humidity as soon as you deboard the plane, although at this time of the year (April), I didn’t think it was too bad.

Immigration and customs was easy on arrival and departure, but be prepared for complete hand search of all luggage on departure, whether checked or carry on.

Upon exiting the airport on arrival, I actually went back in on the departure side to try to withdraw cash (Colombian Pesos) from the ATMs, but my ATM card wouldn’t work on any of them. More on this later in the currency exchange section. So, I caught a taxi to the El Laugito after negotiating 12 mil pesos (12000) from the 15 mil asked by the driver. En route, I remembered that there were Citibank ATMs in CTG (from reading the various posts) and so I asked the taxi driver to take me to one. Apparently there are only 2 Citibank ATMs in CTG, and he took me to the in El Centro Citibank branch (Old City area) where my ATM card worked and I was able to get pesos. I voluntarily gave the driver 15 mil.

Taxis from El Laugito/Bocagrande to Old City ran about 5-7 mil each way. In fact, going from El Laugito to anywhere in Bocagrande ran about 5 mil. When getting a taxi, instead of asking "how much", I think the better strategy is to know what the going rate would be and then to just offer it. If the driver says otherwise, you can just wait for the next taxi, but keep in mind that a difference of 1 mil peso would be less than 50 cents (US). I just don’t want to have driver think that he is getting one over one me.

    Currency Exchange

The Colombian currency is the peso and in relation to the dollar, $1 was about 2300 pesos at the time I was going. This was much higher than last year about this time, but not the highest in the past 52 weeks (it got up to 2600). 1 mil is 1000 pesos. The question I had was whether to exchange currency before I got to CTG, once I got to CTG at the exchange places, or draw from the ATM. On reading the posts and advice from experienced mongers, I started a Capital One account because there were no fees associated with international ATM withdrawals and the exchange was the going exchange rate at the time. However, I found that the Capital One ATM would only work at the Citibank ATMs and there were only two of these (that I am aware of), neither near El Laugito. There was a Citibank ATM in El Centro at a Citibank branch. This one would allow you to withdraw at least 1 million pesos (maybe more). The other one near El Laugito was next to Block Buster video at Carerra Segundo and Calle Once (or Diez). This one would allow you to withdraw up to 700 mil pesos at a time. To get to both of these using a taxi and to get back to El Laugito it cost 10 mil pesos (about $4 USD), so what I saved in ATM fees, I paid in taxis to get to the only ATMS where my Capital One card would work. I tried using it in other ATMs, but no luck. Oh well.

    Lodging

I stayed at the Playa Mar Apartments booked through Juan Ventura (http://www.venpro.net/fotosapartamentos/playa802. Htm). It ran me $70/ nite, but I ran into someone else staying in Apt 602 and booked through someone else and got it for $30/nite. I saw his apartment and it looked just as good as mine. However, mine did have wireless internet in the room, which I really needed to keep up with some business in stateside. I’m not sure that paying the $40 extra per nite just for wireless internet was worth it. However, I will say that Juan Ventura is a class act and speaks good English. He checked on me via phone within 30 minutes of my arrival and then came by later in the evening. The apt did have a safe in it, air conditioning in living and bed rooms and a floor standing fan, but the bed wasn’t very comfortable. It also had a washer (air drying was necessary), refrigerator, iron and ironing board, television in living room and in the bedroom, CD player and DVD player in living room, and a clock radio in the bedroom. Two balconies look over the ocean and there is a nice breeze at night without the need for AC. A private beach is behind the building and can make for a nice swim before heading out mongering in the evenings. The building is near the Hilton, and is a little further down El Laguito, but still about a 15-20 minute walk to LDV and Hollywood Beach (see below). Also, this is the building that has the circular cement "bench" in front that others have posted about where chicas pass by. It is true that chicas pass by in the evenings, but it was mostly the same chicas every evening—although some were cute. There were no fees to take the girls into the apartments, but they needed to check IDs before they would allow a girl to go up.

    My Rating Scale

In a nutshell, I am attracted to the "girl next door" look with a nice ass and stomach and all natural (no silicone). So, my rating scale is based on this.

10’s: there are no "10s" on my rating scale (when I’m sober). 9’s: These are the "hot" chicks like you see on Victoria Secret’s and on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. You easily notice them out from across the room. 8’s: These are the "pretty" girls (minimal makeup) with nice bodies (all natural) including nice ass and breasts. You notice them when they walk by. 7’s: These are "attractive" girls (maybe a little bit more makeup) with a nice ass, but maybe lacking in breasts. I am an ass man, so a girl could be attractive, have a great ass, but very small breasts and still be a "7" on my scale. I am very generous with my "7" rating. These are the girls that are attractive when you start talking to them. You notice they may either have nice eyes, a nice smile, full lips, pretty hair etc. 6’s: These are the "not ugly" girls with a nice ass with or without nice breasts. These girls are doable (without alcohol) and I would have nothing to be ashamed about if anybody found out. 5’s or lower: I would never do sober, I would hope that no one ever found out and most likely I would just want a BJ.

    Chica Venues

LDV is the only disco in El Laugito (for mongering); the rest of the ones listed are in El Centro in the "Old City".

La Dolce Vita (LDV). The first night (Wednesday night) had an outstanding selection of girls all starting out asking for 200 mil for 1 hour. The average on this night was an "8" with several "9s" in the crowd. Talking to a few girls, there were many university students in CTG to try to make some money to pay for school. Subsequent nights the quality had diminished with more "7s", fewer "8s", and barely any "9s". LDV a disco full of free lancers and all girls in the place are available. No cover.

Elektra- This is late night disco that the LDV girls go to (but not all) if they haven’t hooked up at LDV or even if they have, to try to make a little bit more money. No cover, all the doormen did try to charge a couple of gringos that were in front of me, an entrance fee. Good quality, but again, mostly freelancers from LDV. Closed at 4 on Wednesday nite and some people headed to Utopia (see below), but the rest of the nights, was open to 5 or 6am.

Isis- I can’t tell if this a "strip" bar or just a bar. No cover, but there was at least 1 girl that got on stage and stripped. All the girls inside are working girls, asking 250 mil, but I think they have to pay a fine to leave with a customer. The quality was more in the "7" range on the nights I went.

Queens- Same as above, but with lower quality on the 2 nites that I went. No cover. I didn’t inquire about prices.

Bambu- Same as above, a few hotties in the "8" range. No cover. I liked this place. Beers were 10 mil and drinks for the girls were 15 mil (of which the girl gets to keep 5 mil as told to me by one of the girls). Girls ask 250-300 mil, part of which covers a fine to leave the bar/club. I went a few times. The manager is Jugo who seems to be a decent guy and he speaks English if you run into any issues at the club.

Utopia- This must be a new club. I only went once on a Wednesday nite when Elektra closed early. Mostly free lancers, but I don’t think all are working girls.

Tu Candela- This was bar/club where to locals go. Mostly couples and "regular" girls on the night I went. 10 mil entrance fee which includes a drink. Didn’t see many single girls interested in hooking up with a "gringo", although again I was there only 1 night and only for a short time.

    Tony Number 1

Of course reading so much about "Tony Number 1", I had to meet him. It didn’t take very long as I was walking along "Hollywood Beach" (BocaGrande Beach near Hotel Dann) for him to "introduce" himself. His area of the beach is next to Hotel Dann’s private beach area to the right when facing the water. Just walk back and forth a few times and he will find you. He speaks pretty good English, which I understand that he picked up just working the beach for so many years. He asked me if I heard about him on the "Internet", and I said "no" just to play dumb. He almost look disappointed. I think he feels like a celebrity being on the "Internet". Personally, I wasn’t bothered too much by him and he did hook me up with some of my better experiences while in CTG. He is a hustler and will want his money and will play dumb if you call him out on things. Overall, he’s pretty harmless. One chair was 3 mil pesos and the shade was 5 mil pesos for the whole day. Beers were 3 mil and, yes, he wanted you to buy him a beer every now and then. I don’t know how these amounts compare to other vendors on the beach or if I tried to negotiate a better amount. However, I do think that girls wanting to make some money seek him out because they know that guys will use his services. He can hook you up with girls that are on the beach, or he can call girls for you. However, be careful with the latter because you will end up paying for another chair for the girls to sit with you and then to feed or buy drinks for the girl. He gets 20 mil kick back from the girls (told to me by 3 different girls) if you take them with you. The girls will ask anywhere from 100-200 mil pesos, again plan on negotiating. Also, as warned by others, don’t give him your cell phone or let him know where you are staying, both mistakes which I made.

    Other Activities

I ventured out to Playa Boquilla, about a 30 minute taxi ride from El Laugito for 12 mil (if you can negotiate). I actually really liked this beach in comparison to Boca Grande beach. Much less crowded, hardly any vendors, great food, covered "shacks" with hammocks on the beach. There were some cuties on the beach, but not sure of availability. Definitely would recommend, but some Spanish is necessary because hardly anyone speaks English. You may get some "runners" on BocaGrande inviting you to great seafood at Playa Boquilla. Just know that if go with a runner, the prices will be padded to cover the runners "commission" for taking you there. A seafood feast was offered at 120 mil and negotiated down to 70 mil. I know that it was still too much and that I was covering the runners fee to bring me there, but I didn’t pay anything more to the runner. I will also tell you that this was the best meal I had while in CTG, authentic Colombian food with lobster, shrimp, cooked oysters, fried fish and squid, served with rice. By the way, if you come across a "Manuel" who sells fresh cooked crab with lemon juice (very tasty) on Boca Grande, he is a good guy and he is the runner that took me to Playa Boquilla. (The price he quotes you for the crab is 5-7 mil and is "per crab", not the whole container).

I liked the Playa Boquilla area so much that I would consider staying there on my next visit because I was told (and saw from the outside), that nice apartments could be had for about $15/nite (USD). With that low amount, even paying for taxi to and from Old City or El Laugito/Boca Grande, I would still come out better and have more for other activities.

    Miscellaneous

I read about police shakedown near the LDV area, but I didn’t experience it nor did I see anything going on. I felt completely safe in El Laugito, the Old City and in some way out of the way places I probably shouldn’t have been in where I went with a few other gringos. The food in El Laugito was ok, the food was better in the Old City and even better in Playa Boquilla. Although being fluent in Spanish isn’t necessary, as indicated by other posters, having some Spanish ability would be helpful in negotiating with the chicas and making the entire experience more enjoyable.

    Learning the Hard Way

Being relatively new to the mongering lifestyle, I am quickly realizing that what I most enjoy is feeling of being young and alive again, like I was in my 20’s (I’m 43 now). And although sex with beautiful women is the climax of these trips for me, I enjoy the "chase". This means flirting, buying, drinks, taking out to dinner, before having sex. I also prefer the discos/bars instead of massage parlors. However, I was burnt a couple of times on this trip (and my previous trips to Panama) that I am now only going to do the former (buy drinks/dinner) after I do the latter (have sex) and see if I click with a girl. On this trip I wined and dined a girl that I met through Tony (before I had sex with her) after we agreed on 200 mil for 3 hrs. Little did I know that I was on the clock while I was feeding her ass and buying her drinks and hadn’t even had sex yet. Other girls I was attracted to at the clubs who caught my attention, I would buy drinks for even before discussing price or services, hoping that they would be more open to negotiating and at least receptive to giving BBJs. Nope. More often than not, the prices never changed much, nor did being agreeable to BBJs if they were reluctant to do it in the first place. I know that this is probably a newbie mistake and that most experienced mongers would never do that, but this was learning point for me and I just wanted to pass it on to others who may enjoy the "chase". Make sure you agree on ALL details before taking a girl and only wine/dine after you have sex with her and only if she gave GFE like services.

    Summary

In comparison to Panama, the girls in Cartagena were at least 1 rating scale better overall (and I have a pretty tough rating scale). LDV had the best selection on this particular trip, but since CTG is a transient tourist town with chicas coming from other parts of Colombia to try to make some money in short time, the quality may vary at any given time and any given venue. Thanks for your report.

I'd like to mention that your fare information is not correct. Laguito to Centro is 5K which is the current minimum fare. Centro to Bocagrande is also 5K. Between 8:00 pm and about 6:00 am there is a surcharge of 500 or so pesos. You can be charged 10% more for air conditioning. When you look at a rate sheet, you will find everything is priced from Centro. From Laguito to Manga, you add the Centro-Laguito and the Centro-Manga fares.

There is one larger correction. While the tourist zone (Centro and the Bocagrande Penninsula) is very safe as is Manga Island and Crespo, the vast majority of Cartagena is not. Unless you really know the city, stay in the tourist zone.

    Colombian Perspectives

This is my first major post on ISG and I just wanted to reflect on my recent one week stay in Cartagena.

To start, Cartagena is a beautiful city, rich with history and much diversity whether it is ethnic, cultural, and historical. The new Colombian tourism campaign states that the greatest risk of visiting Colombia is having to leave, and I completely agree. I stayed in Bocagrande in a rental from a popular property manager from this site. The rental was better than it appeared in the pictures, just right across the street from the beach, and walking distance to Laguito.

Safety is not an issue in Cartagena, definitely not in Laguito, Bocagrande, or el Centro. I feel far safer in these areas than I do in the place where I live in a large Midwestern city. Outside of these areas, you just have to try to fit in by what you wear, fluency in Spanish and general street sense. Dress in Cartagena is mixed; tourists from Italy, Germany, Israel and other Colombian cities typically wear shorts, t-shirts, bathing suits and other typical tourist wear. Native Costenas (from the coast) generally wear pants with long or short-sleeve shirts, although to fit in, its best if your garments appear a little battered.

All the women are gorgeous and well into their 60s, these women are still sexy. I arrived on a Saturday night and by Wednesday I had stopped turkeynecking because there are many examples of fine women everywhere in Colombia, even in the small towns and poorer neighborhoods. The women come in all colors and almost all shapes, a few I noticed are beginning to hit American proportions. Non-pros are hard to connect with on the street; I think my response rate was from 10-20%, whereas at home its probably about 5-10%. The best way to meet non-pros is to go into the stores or restaurants on Avenida San Martin (Carrera 2) in Bocagrande, the malls [either Plaza Caribe (upscale) or Plaza Castellana], or the shops in el Centro and act like you’re interested in shopping, ask the clerk her name, and just go from there.

I didn’t catch any semi-pro vibes. I’ve been to the Dominican Republic and nearly 95% of women there are semi-pro. No such feeling in Colombia. Pros: are available during the day, however are more numerous at night. I didn’t really catch any at the beach or in front of Hotel Dann as it has said it previous posts. I might not have been at the right beach and might not have been at Hotel Dann at the right time.

Street pros: Available on Avenida San Martin after dusk, prices are less (I picked up one for 60K COP) quality in terms of looks is slightly less, however attitude is much better than what you’ll find in other places. Also street action is available in Centro. Never took home from here, but watch out there are some awefully deceptive transvestites, and I’m pretty good at spotting them. I actually approached one and I was fortunate that he let me know that he was a man.

Clubs: Ground Zero-LDV: definitely 8s and 9s here, plus a rare 10 occasionally. Plus some 6s and 7s. More silicone than you can shake a stick at. Spanish skills are not a necessity here. The conversation is simple and goes something like this:

John: Como estas? Culebra: Bien, y tu? John: Bien, where are you from? Culebra: Medelling (pronounced-Mejean) John: What are you doing here? Culebra: Working. John: What kind of work do you do? Culebra: I can show you in your house in a little while. John: okay. For how much? Culebra: 300 pesos. John: okay. Vamos al taxi!

I was quoted once by a girl for 250K COP for an hour and I never saw anyone approach her or anyone go home with her. No one else quoted me more than 200K COP and I never paid more than 150K COP.

There are plenty of sharks here. Photos will be included of the sharks. Try to avoid the older women as they likely have more experience and are hardcore. Some will ask you for the money upfront. Never pay upfront in Colombia. Most would settle to see the money laid out for them and collecting it later.

    Other Clubs:

No one seems to speak about the clubs in El Centro.

Bananos: Many of the street pros from Avenida San Martin and El Centro congregate here. Quality is about the same, however there is an occasional stunner. Advice: Don’t ever use a Colombian bathroom unless you pay upfront or its your own. This place reminds me of an illegal, underground spot that got shut down nearly a decade ago in my humble Midwestern city. Loud rap music, mainly African-American and young Caucasians from the USA Not for the refined at all. I’ve heard there is a place upstairs to take a girl-that is if you are adventurous enough. Not certain if there is a bar fine, probably not given the chicas are the same as on the street.

Queens’ Bar: Didn’t spend much time here. Walked in twice during the early hours. Not too many chicas; not much talent either. However, this is not the final say. My experience here is limited. Probably have to pay a bar fine.

Bambu Bar: A couple of guys approached me and some friends, saying their bar was for Colombians only-give me a break. Nice bar. Didn’t realize at first that all the chicks inside were working. A few stunners. Quality overall not dissimilar from LDV. Have to pay a bar fine, though.

Isis: Not too much different from Queen’s Bar or Bambu bar: decent looking chicas, about the same quality as LDV. Spent 5 minutes inside altogether.

Taxis: you pay 5K COP per zone. Laguito is a zone, Bocagrande is a zone, El Centro is a zone. Please speak Spanish. If you don’t or if you’re taking a pro back home late at night, YOU WILL BE HIT FOR MORE. Best to say, I’m going to El Centro from Laguito, for 10K COP and if they balk, wait 2 seconds and there will be another taxi.

The bus: even cheaper rides around town for about 1200 COP. Plus nonpros inside to strike up a conversation with.

Transportation to and from Cartagena to Barranquilla or Santa Marta, use MarSol. Tel: 6560302 or 6564270. They will drop you from door to door if its near their route in BQ or Santa Marta or along just along the route. Its cheaper than catching a cab to the bus terminal and a ticket from the bus terminal. It cost 19K COP from CTG to BQ.

Shark 1: Wanted the money upfront. Settled for money on the table. Good in bed. About 27 (like I said avoid them if they are over 24) A tight muscular ass. After the first orgasm, went for second which didn’t come in 20-30 minutes and said she had to get home because her friend had the keys blah, blah, blah (better translated as-there’s still enough time to get to Elektra for another trick)

Shark 2: Wanted the money upfront. Said no. Then she said I trust you. 21 year old from Barranquilla. Good in bed. After one orgasm, said she had to go. My last night there, didn’t want to deal with the b. S. So I broke her off and kicked her out.

Sorry, my photos are too large.

I strongly beg to differ. One man's trash is another man's treasure though. I wanted to edit my last post but this computer is giving me fits. Pleyboy is open until 4am I found out. I said it closes early because when I was there Bill Clinton was in town and it closed early for some security ordinance I think. Wild Bill on his 4th trip to Cartagena, get em Bill. Peace.

I don't believe that. I'm still pulling out LDV girls for 100k short time. 150k max. This goes for established LDV girls, and new girls too.

The quality of girls in LDV is about the same as it always was (going back 3 or 4 years to my first visit).

there are about 15 girls that now control ldv. they sell drugs in the bathroom to the other girls and the italians. when a new girl arrives they take her into the bathroom and threaten her if she does not agree to certain things. one of them is having a minimal price of around 200k pesos. if a new girl shows up and starts screwing gringos for 100k she gets beet up by the group. this has been going on now for 3 or 4 years which is why the quality keeps getting worse and worse. i personally know girls who have shown up from medellin and were scared shitless of the other girls. i met these girls on the beach and they said they are going back to medellin since they could not make any money in ldv anymore. so the end result is the new girls go home and tell their friends in medellin that you can't make money anymore in cartagena. this is a bad situation for everyone.

the old timers here will remember there was always a group from medellin consisting of that super hot chica monica, her almost twin sister who's name i forget, catalina, yuranis and about 10 other girls that would be there off and on. they would always be together in a little group sitting by the window. i am still in contact with several of them and they all say the same thing, being that they cannot make money anymore in cartagena. i told them it was because they all started asking for too much but they said had no choice they also said there was a lot of peer pressure to do drugs and that the entire environment went down hill. most of those girls are not actually from medellin but from the small towns that surround medellin. these towns tend to be very catholic and the girls are actually very shy small town girls. many of the people on here just do not seem to understand that the "putas" they use see in ldv were just very simple country bunkins. if you treated these types of girls with kindness they always showed it back. i got monica drunk one night and she did bareback, took it in the ass, and sucked my dick for like 3 hours. i was drunk as well so i told her to "take what she wanted" out of my wallet. she took 150k and asked me "is this ok? " i have not had that type of experience with too many girls from ldv in the last couple of years. it is really just not worth going there anymore.

there are two girls you will always see standing around the front door, patricia and karen. they both sell drugs in the bathroom so you will seldom seeing them go with a guy. sex with them is absolutely horrible. i did them both once just for a test drive. ironically they will ask for 300-400k but are often so desperate that they will go for 80k if they need their fix.

i am not sure why people on here say aldo is anti-american. he knows i am from the us and has always been very polite with me. i think some of you just probably have a bad attitude with him. that being said he does a very bad job at running ldv by allowing these girls to form their own little gang. there are about 10 of them that i would ban in one second if i owed the place. however, he is screwing them all for free drinks that the bar pays for so he has little motivation to fix the problems. the girls are actually required to go to electra when ldv closes. if they go to another bar then they are banned from lvd which is why at one time you did not see too many in giromato. (not sure if i spelled that right? ). at one time the owner of giromato got in some sort of argument with aldo so all ldv girls were banned. this actually was a good thing since there was even more drugs in giromato with all the israels drug tourists. some of the real bad girls would fuck a gringo in ldv, and then with the money the gringo paid her, go to giromato and buy cocaine for her israel friends and then fuck them all night for free. that is why you never see these girls in the day time since they do not get out of bed until 9:00pm. the israels would always stay in the penthouse in the building directly beside the hilton with the pool on the roof. there would be like 15-20 israels in the penthouse sleeping on the floor. they would get 4-5 girls that were drugged up on cocaine and take turns fucking them without condoms. keep that in mind the next time you see a sweetheart in ldv!

i had to laugh at the original posters comments about his "non pro" friend getting attacked by michelle. if the girl really was a "non pro" she would never set foot in ldv! never! do not fool yourself. many of the working girls on the beach are afraid to go into ldv or too embarrassed. but a "non pro"? no way. there is not a respectable woman in all of colombia who will go inside ldv. and besides, why would hookers attack a non working girl? i also would not worry for one second about michelle's pimps out to get you. i know cops in laguito who would blow these fuckers heads off in one second if the call was made. there is a member of this very forum who had two pimps killed last year. the pimps were trying to use a girl to extort him thinking "lets get the gringo". well they picked the wrong gringo because he went to santa marta and came back with a couple of paracos. the pimps got shot in the head not far from the airport and dumped in the ocean. several of the girls in ldv are aware of the murders, know who paid for it, and know it can happen again in one second. the police also know perfectly well who paid for the hit but the police do not give a flying fuck because the guy has a lot of money. in fact, when the bodies washed up the police were more concerned to keep it quiet than to start any sort of investigation. apparently once everyone started gossiping about it the guy just called up a couple buddies in the gaula and the case was closed.

someone really needs to open a freelance hooker bar in cartagena. it would make a lot of money and bring back the old country bunkins which is really what we want, right?

    Different strokes for different blokes.

Regarding Urban Wildlife I can only second that:

You don't have to agree to all the things that he writes, but the man do knows alot of good things about the coast area of Colombia.

Also, Urban is a frequent world traveler, so he can make judgements from a "global perspective", and not just from one country, one location.

Does this means that I agree to all Urban's posts?

No, but I do respect any man that puts in both the trave ltime and money, and then writes about it on a forum for free, so that anyone who want's can benifit from the info.

I try to see it like a discussion about food:

One man love cajun food, and will never be convinced that the Italian cooking is the best in the world, or the French cooking either.

And that's who we are. Diffrent folks with different tastes and oppinions.

Then just use the info beeing posted on the forum as suits you best.

You are the reader. You are the one who decides what is important to you.

    Best regards to all,

Maybe its the economy around the world, I don't know, but LDV was a letdown. I really liked that place in the past. The girls were not as hot as I remembered and they wanted more money this time for less service. It wasn't that I had such a great time the last time I went but CTG is very close and I met somebody that made my stay pretty damn good. Not the case this time. I did get a chance to go to a lot of bars that I didn't go to before in the old city and the night life can be quite good if you know where to go.

I did get a chance to go to Pleyboy. I thought this might be a ripoff place because all the cab drivers touted it before to me and I didn't go. It was actually a pretty nice place with decent rooms in the back and 12-15 chicas on the dance floor and at the bar. 200k for action, includes the room. The place does close early though, maybe midnight I think or 1am at the latest.

Tony didn't come up with anything good on the beach either. I was disappointed. He is a celebrity there though, lol. I know a lot here don't like him but he is an absolute character. Just don't let him rob you on your Aguila count and enjoy the entertainment.

I think I have seen enough of this town. I have been here enough to know there are other places in Colombia and the world that I want to see and some I have been to and want to see again. Cartagena is no Eden. It is a very touristy town which is fine if you like that. It has some beautiful sites to see and is close to the U.S. Pros at LDV and electra are hardcore though. Not my thing. I did wish I had tried the casas on the list but I didn't.

I would like to thank world69 for providing the list which was very helpful and to UrbanWildlife who gave me some great advice as well. I see he has been taking some shots on this thread. Don't know about all that but the guy provided me with some solid info about the city, women and everything else in Cartagena. In the end I think thats why we are all here. Peace.

    Wow comrade boris

Really informative and eye opening. I know why I have never liked LDV and your report just sealed the deal. I have not taken a girl out of there since 2005. I walked in there twice in September of 2008, walked right out after 15 minutes, could not stand the women in there. A lot of them had distant stares and bad bad body language, I guess many of them were wired up. Someone needs to post the photos of these nasty putas.

I like the fact the some gringo had the balls to take them on. Whoever you are good for you, good move hiring the paracos I am not sure of what happened, but obviously you had to do what you had to do.

Aldo will get his, he will cross the wrong guy someday.

I hope everyone takes Comrade Boris warning seriously.
