The manager probably did not want to get fired, so he billed the customer. I guess the reasoning has some bearing, where the customer is responsible for the contents and condition of the room property he is essentially renting out. Just like if you rent a car and you left the keys in the ignition... and it got stolen. Oh well. Almost the same as a thief finding a key with the hotel name and room number written on it.

"SE Asian Joe" first brought it up and was asking about it too. Where in HELL did your DUMP ASS friend get the money after everything was lost? I am just using your type meaningful derogatory words as an example.

Some one else forgot them there. Nice start for me.

THe CP KTVs are fairly well documented on this site, but the ChangAn KTVs generally receive less attention. It is probably becasuse CA is more difficult to get to (no direct train from HK, for example).
Anyway below is a list of strip KTVs I've heard about in ChangAn:
JiAn: line ups in room; strip dice; strip dance at 10:30
DFML (Dong Fang Mei Li): line ups in rooms; strip dice; strip dance at 10:30
Wu Sha Hotel KTV
Xing Zhi Xing KTV (Star of Star Hotel) (Near the border of Humen and Chang An): girls put underwear in plastic bag
Dong Cheng KTV
JinSha KTV (JSMZ)
ShaTou Hotel: strip dice; strip dance at 10:30
I've been to the first to on the list, but not to the others. My questions to you guys is are all 7 of these KTVs distinct KTVs? Or of some of these the same place with different names. Also, do you know about the stripping and choosing format at these KTVs? I believe they are all 2-5-8.

Most good hotels will have the safe bolted down. This keeps someone from just trading the safe for another one. I just checked mine, and of course it's not bolted down. At least I don't have much in it if it's ripped off.
I got ripped off for about 600 in Peru a few years back, from a 2/3 star hotel that a lot of mongers stayed at. No safes available at all. I raised all hell with the owner, and now he at least offers to bring a safe up to your room if you request it.
I had the breakfast at the Mayflower (or May Flower, if you want it as it's written on all their stuff). Decent, but nothing to write home about. An egg station was the highlight. Probably worth $5 or so, at least to me.
It appears that they have weekend rates, so my first night was at 258, and Friday and Saturday will be 288. At least they take credit cards.

Having said that Freepeaks - when your time's up, your time's up and it don't matter where you stay! The choice of a hotel's importance is way below that of us mongers always being on the look-out for dangers and to take the necessary steps to secure our own safety.

Posts: 446and hence why i prefer to stay at a better place with a higher charge not for the bsd effect, but for the safety or perceived safety of the rooms.
Would you consider the Hui Mei / Hui Hua / Miraton safer than the SWL and Manhattan / Penninsula?
Anyone know what hotels by SWL/Manhattan/Penn have decent safes?

First,I priced safes at the Canton Trade fair and the kind they have at the Hua Yu would max.be US$ 45@ and secondly and more importantly - how can they justify him having to pay for it as he certainly didn't steal it and the hotel is suppossed to be responsible for at least a modicum of security.
And I still wonder how the hotel could possibly make him pay ANY $$ at all as he by then had no money or card or whatever left??!!
Just really curious/wondering if your buddy really telling it all.
