Well I tried Casa Gate 3 for the first time after reading reports here and on the advice of the cabbies. My most recent cabbie told me that the girls at Casa will provide good service (won't leave early) and are cleaner. He also said that the girls at Honquera are not clean, have diseases, and don't provide good service. In my opinion I think the opposite maybe true, although I think reports in this forum tend to corroborate the cabbie. Well after visiting Gate 3, I thought the casa girls looked pretty hard core with plenty of mileage whereas I was expecting girls similar to in the discos, considering the amount of money that you have to pay.

I am tempted to have a play at Gate 3 when I am in Cebu mid-July. However I do find myself wondering if it's worth the trouble? I mean for 2500 php you could certainly buy a girl out LT from any of the bars on Mango Ave, including paying for a few LDs as well. Why go out to a risky area when you could shop locally in comfort? My first impressions of Eddie’s Hotel were very positive, the staff were welcoming and booking in was hassle-free. I had booked a superior room on the ground floor via AsiaTravel (because the hotel website is a bag of crap) and got a 10% Asian Escapades discount, paying 2130php (£30) a night. I had read that Eddie’s may discourage girls staying overnight, others had said they charge a supplement – since the extra for double occupancy was only 150php (£2.50) a night, I decided to book that to avoid any possible issues. In fact I detected no issues about lady guests at all – several punters and their GFs used the dining room for both dinner and breakfast. There were quite a few locals dining too – nobody batted an eyelid.

The bar area tends to be used by people who’re dining, not a drinking spot really. Prices reasonable, 50php for San Mig Light. Perfectly acceptable standard of food, certainly adequate for breakfast – allow 250php per person for that.

The hotel has wi-fi throughout, though there isn’t a PC, so you’re knackered if you’re not toting a laptop. Plenty of Internet cafes nearby though.

The room was large, with 2 queen sized beds, good sized walk-in shower (suitable for 2 or 3 people) Aircon worked well, no fridge though, cold drinking water supplied via a Thermos. See pics attached.

The BIG plus for Eddies on F. Manalo Street is it’s got location, location, location – just a 100 yards away are a dozen girlie bars on Mango Ave, 2 of which I really rated … though in just 5 nights I didn’t manage to work my way through them all. I am back in July and will use Eddies again.

Having had experience of mongering in both countries, I agree there are some big differences in the quality of hotels, prices and great food. Thailand wins hands down. I also agree there are maybe more beauties to be found in Thailand, though you don't have to look too far to find stunning Filipinas too.

However, for me, the very clinical attitude of the TGs and their limited fluency with the English language, dampens the experience a lot. TGs simply don't LIKE farangs (foreigners). End of story. Their culture is vastly different from ours and their language impossible to learn.

Filipinas are much warmer and more natural than TGs. I really like the GF experience, no matter that it's a pay for play arrangement. I think these girls are just fantastic. And very pleasant human beings, just trapped by their location and circumstances. I treat them with respect and have always had a great experience because of that.

After having been to the Phils and after having spent time in both Angeles and Manila, I don't understand why mongers who have a choice prefer it over Thailand. There's no comparison in my opinion. Thailand wins hands down!

The only thing good about the Phils, in my experience was that the flight was shorter. The area is shitty. The girls are way over priced as are the hotels. Manila is full of beggars and robbers. The girls aren't nearly as good looking as the Thai girls. The police are on the take. The cab drivers try to rip you off right and left. The country is way way poorer than Thailand.

I'm back in Cebu until mid July-- I'll spend most of my time out on Camotes island-- I'm posting this from there using a Smartbro usb pay as you go- slow, better than nothing. The beach is dirty today due to the rubbish blown in on the Hagabat (sp? ). The southern storm wind, so I'll try to share a few observations-

As reported elsewhere, (Sun Star, here on this board) Egypt & Bounty bars are closed up & they were dark when we drove by. A girl I know who used to work there says a lot of girls out of work. Sun Star reports the licenses have been revoked by the mayor of Mandaue. There's a 3rd bar in the complex, Coliseum, almost finished, that never even got to open. These bars had some pretty fancy decoration & some foreigner owners (like the guys at Cadillac Cafe in Mactan) got an expensive lesson in doing business here in the PI.

Speaking of Mactan, I have a place there when I'm in Cebu, & frequently drive by Maddogs & Jungle bar/disco. Stopped to look in a few times- no customers- Maybe the wrong night or too early.

Went by Mermaid a few times- lot's of girls, usually- uncomfortable seating, but nice layout to watch the dancers. 50 peso (I think it's 50) entrance fee, with no signs at the entrance to advise you of that entrance fee. The Philippine legal system has a lot in common with US system-like in the US it can be glacially slow. However, your 'rights' may be severely limited to none, because you are a foreigner.

The ex gf helped her aunty with her case. I settled for 30, 000 pesos to get the aunty off my back. The ex-gf helped her aunty sue me.

The ex went on 'vacation' with a succession of Asian-Euro contacts, as long as they would pay her way, & now she's in Thailand with a German or Austrian guy who's going to marry her.

Anyway, the new gf is a lot better looking, & much better in bed, so 'all's well in this best of all possible third worlds.'

Unfortunately, nothing comes close to AF1 or the like. You might give Finland Spa a shot but it can be hit or miss! Do a search in this thread! There are also many similar type places in Cebu but you must search them out.
