a while back, i went to miari. i like the deserted back-alley feel to it. there's far too much foot traffic at yongsan. always afraid i'm going to meet someone i know. regardless of their status as a fellow monger or acquaintance, it might be hard to play off my presence as computer parts sortie. it was easy enough to find once i got the lay of the land. the mama-sans are bossy as hell and clutch at the wrists. as the guy who has to pay for his 15 minutes of fame, i prefer to make the choice on my own. they claimed there were only two houses open, as it was early in the day on a saturday. a few of their friends had seated them selves between me and the rest of the alley, so i figured there was no more to see.

Went for my first Anma experience today (Sunday, 19:00). Didn’t really feel like going all the way to Gangnam looking for a place that may or may not exist (see Rifters report) so I decided to walk into Bukchangdong and find a place that looks inviting and just give it a try.

As I turned right from the main street between Namdaemun and City hall into Bukchangdong (just past old Samsung headquarters on the other side of the road) I noticed the word Anma in red on top of a building 100m straight ahead. Basically just straight from the main road into Bukchangdong until you reach the end of one of the little streets branching from the main strip (large yellow-ish building).

Doors were wide open and I thought what the heck let’s go for it, what’s the worst that can happen? If only I knew at the time.

As I enter I’m greeted by a lady (no problem being a foreigner) who then quickly calls in a guy with some basic English skills, I pay 180, 000KRW and am taken upstairs to a small room (which turned out to be the waiting / normal massage room). As I am undressing the guy gets a call from what I think is the front desk and informs me I should pay an additional 30, 000KRW. I guess they forgot to add the foreigner premium while I was downstairs. When I ask why I have to pay more now, the guy just says "mistake" and takes my money.

He then tells me to get undressed and put on the robe and boxers. During the 5-10 minute wait I take some time to reflect on the state of the place. It wasn’t what you would call a shit-hole but it had definitively seen better days. By now I’m pretty excited about what is about to come, so the short wait feels like forever.

Next the lady from downstairs knocks on the door and takes me to a massage/shower room where I am greeted by my SP. From here it is downhill all the way. She is hardly a stunner, well into her thirties, yellow teeth, tired eyes and just basically not very attractive. To make my disappointment complete, she has a tattoo on her right shoulder blade (major turn-off) and asks me if it is OK if she smokes (can’t think of a bigger turn-off, besides maybe a hairy upper lip). So, you take the seoul subway to Nambu Bus Terminal and exit the station at Exit 6. If you took a cab there, find exit 6 (it is stairwell leading down) in front of a convenience store. Walk in the direction the stairs are coming up. So as son as you see the stairs, starting walking in the direction they are coming out of the station. Keep going until you see the BC Card building (It has a big sign that says B.C). Stop short of passing the building and take a sharp right turn down the side street/alley way. Its pretty much a hairpin right turn. So take the very sharp turn and walk down 20-30 meters until you see a red sign that says "Sun" to your left. It will have some sun rays around it just like in the picture poseted by Private007US. Walk under the sign and look right. You should see double glass doors with the "Sun" signs. A person wil greet you by saying "An-ma?" You just nod or say yes and follow him. Take off your shoes and use the slippers, pay at the frot desk then go chance into the clothes they give you. You are given a locker and the key (I was a bit hesitant but found all my stuff, including lots of extra cash left alone and as is. So its safe to me.). Once you are done chaning, sadly in thepresence of the attendant with his back turned, you are lead to the main room with couches and SPs. They then all swarm you and ask questions. It helps to know Korean but if not they all seemed to know VERY little basic english. Anyhow when your ready, pick a girl, take her hand and she will lead you to a elevator.

Well friends, last night (Saturday July, 4) I searched far and wide for the Sun An-Ma and it was nowhere to be found. I followed the instructions exactly as written, and I found the BC building, and turned right just like the directions said, but I didn't find it. All I found was a bunch of love hotels and a few restaurants here and there, nothing matching the description.

Imagine my dissapointment. The place Adem86 mentioned sounded pretty cool. The kind of place where the ladies are cute, and your stuff won't get stolen. It also sounded safe in the sense that a doctor won't hand you your genitals six months later due to venerial disease.

Was there some mistake in the directions? Has the place gone under?

Been living in Seoul for 6 months now and my (29y / European / business analyst) experiences so far have been limited to what you would call “freebies”. Nice of course, but these things tend to get very complicated very quickly.

Never really considered professional services, but I recently had an eye-opening experience. I just returned from a biz trip to HK and took the opportunity to visit Macau. Did the whole sauna thing and it was simply amazing (spent 12 hours in utter luxury, dropping €500, but worth every cent!), needless to say now I’m looking for something similar in Seoul (although I’m definitively going back to Macau when I have the chance).

Did my homework reading countless reports on this board, and am pretty sure an upscale anma or maybe room salon would be the place to go. However, apparently the nice anmas aren’t too keen on foreigners (discriminated against as a white, tall, blue-eyed European. I guess there is a first for everything ;-).

Anyway to cut a long story short, what in your opinion is the best place to go as a foreigner if cost isn’t really an issue? (and your Korean language skills are limited). Preferably north of the river, but I guess most of the action takes place in Kangnam. So far I’ve read about a place called Sun, Call, and a place in Bukchangdong about which Byung has promised a report.

BTW, In case there is any interest for getting some cool people together for a visit to a room salon, I would be very keen on trying that out.

I realize I’m a bit of a leech, but I’m hoping to be able to write a proper report soon!

I was in Seoul last Friday staying at the intercontenial Hotel no action so got in a taxi went to JJs at the Hyatt. Its fantastic got there around 10 pm the place was packed lots of women I headed out side near the pool. The women where mostly sitting, standing in groups 4 or 5. Went to 588 last night at about 1am(Saturday).

Quite a lot of girls. More of single glass houses. (as compared to Cheonho, which has a few girls in a house) Many 7-8. Walked around twice. Not sure which is the A or B row.
