Why are they doing this? What is the purpose behind these prosecutions? Is the mood of the people dictating this new direction or is it a couple of people's hair up their butt that's causing this? Please don't tell me that authorities are looking for kickbacks, that would put a new low in low. Panama has always been happy, go about your business if you are not hurting yourself or anybody else. It has a rat smell to it.

I wish it was only people wanting kickbacks!! this was something that was coming any time soon. There was an ever increasing crime rate, we started to have many, and I mean many drug related executions, robberies, assaults that were never seen before in Panama.
Unfortunately, most of them were related directly to columbians or foreigners. Now this was an itch that the current government had since a long time ago, because mainly, most of the stuff going with brothels and the like was patronized by the past government.
As a funny note, one of the illegal brothels was 150m away from the current presidents house!!
Also, right now there are a lot of illegal aliens in the country, mainly prostitues and things were really starting to go out of control.
Not just raids are going on, the local highways, corredor norte and sur, are being audited because there are suspicions that the construction companies that have been administering them have already recovered the investment and they are keeping their mouths shut, apart, the current scandal involves the former president Perez Balladares aka el toro(the bull) with casino concessions that were granted to companies were he has family links and money being deposited into accounts that handle his private plane and jet.

They are also considering right now putting in a new tax on alcohol and smokes, and even limiting the working hours for clubs.

I recommend that you have your passport/visas handy, they are taking even tourists to police stations just by being around the vicinity

Guys, the raids are still going, this time they raided parlor named Centro Spa in Via Porras and another "mansion" in a high class neighborhood.

Again exercise caution when going to massage parlors. Stay on the regular more open staging areas like the venetto. Id say to stay clear of habanos, as Im pretty sure its a primer target of the mayor's office during the raids, as the mayor himself is leading the raids

Just FYI, there was a huge raid by the D.A last friday in calle uruguay, moods, people, mint and la bodeguita got raided. I was hangin in moods and they didnt find anything wrong, now as far as I know many got taken by the police at la bodeguita.

Anyone coming might exercise some caution if going to la bodeguita

I'm not sure which section to put it in so forgive my redundance if it's in the "General" section as well. I was highly recommended the Torres de Alba, which is unfortunatly offering a great price right now because they are under construction starting at 7am (Told to me by the hotel as well as a friend who lives there). I like Plaza Paitilla but it's not near enough to the action. Coral Suites gets so-so reviews and is high at $150. Las Vegas was recommended somewhere here but I'll be with a gf, so I'm not sure if it's nice enough.

Can SOMEBODY please help me with a hotel or two recommendation? Preferably in the Cangrejo area? I'll have plenty of times to slip out for some individual action so it would help. Thanks, friends!

Immigration conducted raids at Capri and La Gloria two weeks ago, and at Golden Time the week before. ALL of the girls were taken to the Immigration Shelter, and "retained for investigation" until the next day. As a result, some of them were deported.

It has been a couple years since I have gone out in Panama City.

When I have been there before i went to Habano's and Bodequita Bar.

Are there any other places that are a bar type of take out place in the city.

I am looking for a place to go on a Tuesday and a Wednesday night.

I like Habano's and have only been to Bodequita once.

I always like to go into Habano's just to see what is there.

I usually stay at the Venito Hotel, but that can be up or down depending on the time of the night.

Let me know if there are any other suggestions.

Sounds like you got consistent GFE at Veneto which is great. I think this place offers a nice short term alternative to Golden Times and Miami. Can't get consistent GFE at those places.

To all newbies, avoid takeouts at Le Palace, Elite, etc........... There is no reason to pay the house that much!!!! If you absolutely have to have those girls negotiate to meet them after work. When I was in Panama earlier this year, I was absolutely amazed how many rookies were dropping hundreds of dollars on takeout.
