Hangzhong Road is quite far outside, behind Hongqiao Airport. Take Wuzhong Road, pass the Outer Ring, go for another 3 kilometers on Wuzhong Road, and you will eventually find it.

It was known as "the Village" or similar before, but this has been a couple of years ago. Back then, it was more or less an inofficial Red Light District, but this is gone and done.

I, however, do believe, there is still quite a scene "behind the curtain", as Ocean25 described. However, pretty much "ma fan" to get there.

The point is not who got caught, the point is the risk is very high now. SH has literally hundreds of these places, maybe more, nobody is really interested in closing them, if possible at all. But currently you have at national and local level interest to slow things down.

Many are still opened, you just don't know about it. Standard drill is they take one customer at a time. When a customer goes in, they close the shades, lock the doors, turn off the lights so the establishment appears dead. With the crackdown on saunas and the police arresting customers, I think it is just too dangerous to visit any sauna right now. I was just in Shanghai and there are many safe opporunities on TRL. Go to Malones, Judys, Manhattan, Blue Frog at night. These places are crawling with working girls. Talk to them negotiate a fair price and you can have safe fun.
