If you can't handle yourself with pickpocket or beggars coming up to you, I think you should take Philippines off your list. The poster who says PI is way more dangerous and advises going to AC versus anywhere else in PI I believe had his only one trip there and he doesn't tell you that there have been mongers and expats killed in AC. I only heard of one incident of murder in Manila of a foreigner a bit ways back versus multiple ones in AC recently. You need to have a coolness about you to handle the crap in PI. There is a reason to go to PI and you have to be able to overcome some of the poverty issues there.

The Phils is way, way more dangerous than BKK. I got accosted and robbed outside of LA Cafe in Manila. That area is very dangerous and Manila is a veritable shithole compared to BKK. I think you just had bad luck. And I suppose those who love the Phils say I had bad luck.

I'll take BKK and Thailand over the Phils any day. If I were to go back to the Phils, I'd only go to Angeles. I guess if you had a girl out in the provinces it might be worth it. But certainly not to go to Manila.

In those situations there is very little time for deduction. You really have to stay committed to your course of action regardless of which way you go.

There are plenty of courses of action that appear foolish but could pay off big. Its just that the payoff here doesn't begin to equal the risks. I think most agree you chose the wrong course BUT, you pulled it off.

I did not say it was a smart thing to do, only what I did at the time. Certainly it could have turned out worse.

Maybe calling them kids was wrong, perhaps street-youths would be better (maybe mid-teens).

They did not return to their previous place over a few following nights of passing by (alternate side of road or with taxi).

I don't think they were part of a 'gang/mob' as they were a mob already. There were 5 of them. There were some adult security guards nearby at the construction site that knew what happened but did not care at all, perhaps they were just too lazy to get up. In fact they sort of cheered me on.

I remember when i told the mob to call the police one pulled out what looked like a fairly current high-end Nokia phone, must likely lifted from some other monger a few days earlier.

Honestly, I felt stupid originally for having this incident occur(original pick-pocket). In a way I regret NOT breaking his arm/hand so that he could not do this again and not taking and walking away with the phone that I saw.

I think that they were terrified of me at the time. The only defense they made was to throw a water bottle at me after I walked away.

Call me stupid or even worse if you want. I was just tired of this shit, its never happened in my 8 years of life in China and mongering all over Asia.

I don't think that the police care a rats ass about these street people, they cause a lot of problems for tourists in this country. They give Thailand a bad name.

Well I guess I'm confident enough of my LB-dar that the situation isn't a big concern for me, not something I worry about.

I'd also ask if I had any doubt -- I did that last time in BKK when picking up a FL in Nana parking lot. She had this Emo-style haircut with long hair covering one eye completely (and black nailpolish), so it was hard to get a good look at her face to make sure. I don't see how it's 'complementary' to modern medicine. It was developed before modern medicine. I said before nothing too argue about this. All info in the internet available Chinese med is a prevention medicine and a alternative to western in some case. And yes they do of course blood analyse etc. Even for 5000 baht. Cell and t cell etc. Bumrungrad charge you 15.000 for it. You know this test that shows that your body is cancer risk. This Chinese med works and the pharmaceutical companies know is working for prevention but nowbody nowadays even has find out why it works and why ist not working on some cell regenerations. Anyhow is nothing else as a alternative medicine with no side effect. And you have nothing to loose to try it. The Chinese doc has never said they are a better or someting like this. Its just a alternative med for prevention and healing.

I just take this thing to be free for ever from cholesterol. Blood circulation problem. Kiney lever problem. Good blood flow etc. Hopefully I will stay free for long time or for ever and report chiks activities for ever.

These kids were sitting on and in front of stairs to enter the ASOK Skytrain station.

The kid came at me with bags of some lightweight 'candy? ', yelling at me in Thai. I told him to [CodeWord140] off but he kept on following me with this stuff in my face before I knew it, the whole thing was over. I had an umbrella in one hand because it was pouring rain. After realizing my 'loss', I went back to this group of kids (perhaps 15 seconds after the original incident). I destroyed their 'candy' and took revenge on this kid.

I think the dental treatment for the kid will cost him more than he earned in this event. I told them to call the police and I walked away from the scene.

Be careful out there. This never happened to me before in BKK, maybe it is getting more desperate here.

I recommend you leave all your papers and cash in your hotel safe. Take only as much cash as you are willing to spend on drinks and your entertainment. To minimize the chances of losing it all, separate some of it into different pockets.

Last week, walking back to the condo from Oranges Massage, I was seriously accosted by the group of katoeys that frequent the construction zone between Sukhumvit Soi 29-31.

10: 30 PM, was just strolling along, mindlessly going over what had just been a so so hit on the massage place. The chick was too young, too inexperienced, but fuck me she was really really cute. Yeah, I was half smiling to myself, and I was also thinking about what was for dinner. OK. Never mind.

As I am just cruising along near the construction wall, suddenly about 3 meters in front of me, one really tall ladyboy dude steps in my path and exposes an enormous fake breast. He then quickly does that hugely exaggerated butt waggle up to me yammering some broken English about 'beeyootiful lady? " I smile, and say, "Mai aow krup, mai chawp katoey krup". (No thank you, I don't do ladyboys, thanks anyway.)

The motherfucking dude reaches down and grabs my cock! He then squeezed it so hard I had to turn over at the waist to pull away, he then dug his long fingernailed thumb in and twisted so hard that I had to double over.

Fuck me, from nowhere, many hands going into all of the pockets of my jeans, front and back. I have no idea how many there were. But as I looked up, the squeezer motherfucker was staring down right at my face with a demented glee that brought back too many bad experiences from when I was young. The guy was shwacked and he wasn't fucking around.

Something snapped I suppose. I fought back. Not really sure how I managed it, but I was pissed as hell. I dropped my weight down and away, lowered shoulder and decided that the only way I was going to get out of this was to fuck this one guy up real good. Barreled my head aside then did a hard American football tackle on the katoey's knee and at the same time sliding up with the intention of slamming his head into the ground with my hands around his neck. There was all kinds of shit happening behind me, but I never felt a kick or punch, it all happened too fast.

We both fell into the backside of a phone booth with him getting twisted up in some of that exposed wiring sticking up out of the busted sidewalk, then careened into the street with him taking the hard asphalt pizza slap underneath me. Falling directly into oncoming night time Suk traffic, a motorbike zoomed right by my head. I kept momentum, got to my feet and sprinted through the honking car horns to the middle divide of Suk, then ran as far as I could, dancing along the divider on the other side between the cars and the curb.

When there was an opening in headlights behind me to my left, I ran through to the the other side of Suk and straight into the 7-11. From the time I had bulldozed the dude, I had not looked back to the katoeys. When I finally did look back, I couldn't see anything, nothing. I couldn't hear any of them either (they make this insanely irritating pissed off screeching and yowling cackle when irritated.)

If those guys had chased after me, I was fucked. They hadn't. I slipped out of the 7-11 and jumped directly into a taxi that had slowed in front of my outstretched arm. By some miracle, they didn't get anything, and I had gone out heavy that night expecting some action later at Soi Cowboy. Won't be doing that stupid shit again, no sir.

Sound like a fucking movie? I guess, but I am still freaked out about it. The entire episode up to the point of the 7-11 must have taken 15 to 20 seconds at the very most.

Now look, I have not had anything like this happen to me in a long time. If somebody wants to pick on a guy, I am not a prime target. I'm old, but don't have a profile as being so, I dress young, have a good build, have all my hair and fairly pronounced wide shoulders.

Katoeys are usually very benign and low on my list of dangerous subjects. Hell, we have a fucking ton of them here in Phuket. I put my eyes in total 'ignore' mode when I see them, here they are easy to spot and a fact of life. This deal was the strangest godamm fucking thing but I am sure that this wasn't the first time of pulling this shit for those clowns on Sukhumvit.

You KNOW I won't be walking through that part of Suk anymore at night. But, guys, hey, be careful out there. Something weird is brewing in Thailand and I am not the only farang feeling it.

Danger and desperation lurking, especially in Bangkok. Maybe it's just the chemistry of the latest version of ya-ba. Who knows? Just be aware of it, be safe and take precautions now. I know I will. My dick was sore for two motherfucking days and my shoulder STILL hurts like hell.

It could have been much worse. Any of them could have had a knife and it could have been bad for me.

My original comment was to inform our fellow forum members of this sort of event, what to look out for and in some ways how to protect yourself or at least limit your potential loss.

Don't go back and take them on. Next time they will may be better prepared.

I'm out of Bangkok now and in fact I am a little disappointed with this trip. Perhaps next time I will try the Philippines.
