True, I'd forgotten about Loy Krathong, but I've never been in Thailand when it's on so don't know what it's like. I think it is held on the first full moon of November?

I am going to be working in Bangkok at the end of the month and I am thinking of going to Patts for Halloween weekend. Does the bar fine go up for Halloween?

I was in Patts during some festival where everybody was putting mud on my face and blasting me with super soakers. It was fun, until that night, when go go's on Soi 8 where charging 1000B bar fines!!!

Unfortunately my cash flow is funky so I need this info to see how many days I'll stay in Patts (if I go at all)

That will be Songkran. It is a very big holiday in Thailand when everybody parties, so suddenly demand exceeds supply and prices go up. Halloween is not such a big deal - it's obviously an imported festival so probably won't have any noticeable effect on prices. It will be party time in Pattaya so may be busier and more fun.

I'm going to be Pattaya with 2 wingmen for 7 nights from 16th November. We've not been to Thailand before-(I went to DR twice last year- Blackbeards. Which I definately recommend).

I, ve read back through Pattaya posts and have some ideas (so please don't flame me old stagers) but it would be really good if any kind posters in the know could give me their top recomended bar/s, club/s, whatever/s to visit when we are there.

Conversley any place they definately advise to avoid.

Patts is a small town so it is not hard to just explore. Find what you like a go with the flow. All the bars and go go clubs are the same so don't waste time trying to find a better price

Visit Soi 7, Soi 8

Soapy is a MUST - 2nd RD between Soi 3 and Soi 2

Walking St is no brainer - Happy A Go Go has the best girls, but it will be crowded

Report back and don't BS us because we will know :-)

Question for the gentlemen of the forum:

I'm arriving in Thailand early December and I'm considering going directly to Pattaya instead of Bangkok. The problem is, I'm arriving at almost midnight and am not sure what my transportation options are at that time of night. Are there vans that go between the airport and Pattaya or will I have to get a taxi and how much? Usually I take a bus from Ekkamai to get there.

I also have a girls number I met on my last trip a few months ago, but I have been having trouble calling her from the U.S. even though I can call to Bangkok. I'm thinking there must be some adjustment in the prefix i need to make.

I just got back from Pattaya the last bus from the airport is 9pm and the last bus from ekkamai is 10.30 pm so taxi is your only options.

Thanks for the responses regarding bussses directly from airport to Pattaya.

Now that there are 2 bus services going to Pattaya directly from the airport terminal (Bell Service and gov't-run), then why would anyone need to take the free airport shuttle over to the airport bus terminal to catch the other busses to Pattaya?

Just wondering.

Just to find out that a few minutes after departure the bus stops at the airport again.

Just google "Pattaya Taxi", and you'll see all of the operators that have web sites. I've used VR www.pattaya-taxi.com many times, and they're prompt, reliable, and inexpensive.
