Anybody in CM at the moment able to comment on safety for tourists given the Red Shirt Raid on the Gov't Building recently? Also, how bearable is the smog from all the brushfires. Air quality an issue?

All is quite up in CM. There's one area of town that is a red shirt rally area, near the East side of the moat, but you if avoid that area (Just in case), you will be fine here. Can't miss the area, got a big red flag flying and some tires for barricades.

Am in Chiangmai presently. Other than a few vans sporting red flags, I haven't seen anything like protests. The town is in full songkran mode now so the only risk is getting a bucketful of icy water on your face.

Did a "look-see" at the Hillside Hotel Sauna around 11 pm. Selection was either fat or ugly and the price quoted was 2,500 and 2,000, we laughed and walked out. Went over to the Phu Come Hotel Sauna, selection was a bit better, prices quoted the same. I told him I heard the going rate was 1,000 and 1,400 and he immediately agreed to it. Took one of the 1k girls who actually looked better than the so called models. First was the bath for two which was nice, then a quick shitty massage, followed by a decent ride.

Phu Come is not bad if you need a release, but still better to travel outside of CM.

The normal price at Hillside should be 1000 for one hour, and 1200 for 1.5 to 2 hours. If they don't know you or you don't speak Thai it might be a little hard to get these prices.

I don't much bother with the soapies on the west side of town anymore, mainly I just go to Sayuri, since it has better selection and better looking girls (usually).

Prescriptions at the CM Ram Hospital are inflated. Tell the doctor BEFORE he fills out prescription that you insist the prescription be given directly to YOU and not delivered by the nurse to the Prescription counter in the Ram. Take the prescription to any drug store and get a much better price. The doctor will squirm and insist that he will "get in trouble" with the hospital, but thank him for his efforts and INSIST.

I too found it very hard to meet girls in Chiang Mai, either working or non-working, whereas in Bangkok everywhere I go I have a cute pair of female eyes on me.

This happened to me in Bangkok. I had a girl who didn't want to leave and didn't want any money. I guess it just happens sometimes.

It may however simply be a ploy to try to convince him that she really likes him so that he'll be even more generous with his money than he would have been otherwise.

Offering money you treated her like a prostitute , which she is in reality. She wanted to be a girlfriend not a prostitute.

Disappointment for her. She wanted to parade you around as her Trophy boyfriend not as her customer.

Do a search for my posts in the Chiang Mai forum, I'm pretty sure I wrote a report here .. the name is in Thai, I just went in and looked lost and someone eventually came to offer me girls.

Had my prostate etc. Checked at Chiang Mai Ram. Lab and doctor's fee were reasonable. I asked the Urologist about V. Then the in house pharmacists tried to sell me 4 tablets of Levitral for 2700 Baht, 675 Baht per tablet! I cancelled my order. Maybe they make their profit now, by selling overpriced medication to their farang patients? Or is it a fair price for the real stuff?

I hung around long enough to drink a beer, but saw nothing remotely palatable.

10 or so posts ago I wrote: "up around Taewarit Road, to the west of Santitham Road, to the northwest of the old town. " I had a beer, papasan approached after a while, I confirmed I wanted a girl, he started to bring over candidates, I picked one, some guy outside took us to a shorttime motel on his motocy. Yesterday I checked Chang Spa, on Sridornachai. It is at the end of the last soi before Charoen Prathet. There are spacious private rooms with bathroom. Bath and HJ only: about 500 THB. Bath, massage and HJ: 799 THB. Bath and body to body massage: 999THB. The problem is, that they have a queue. It is OK at TM-places (with optional HJ), but not at a sex oriented place with HJ and Body/Body on the menu. The girl assigned to me, was not cute enough to arouse my desire, so I refused and had an oil massage next door, at Daruma massage (you enter through the restaurant). 200THB per hour. I saw some pretty young girls, but as far as I found out, they do Thai massage only. My oil massage lady was in her late forties. Nice woman, but to excite me for "extras" I need a young and slim girl, so i did not ask for a HJ and it was not offered. The good thing: the lady was not shy, so I was naked, even when on by back, no modesty-towel needed! When I had left the Chang Spa before, I saw one pretty girl hanging around. I would not have refused her. Maybe I try another time, with better luck. The price for a body/body seems reasonable to me - with the right girl of your own choice!

A protrate massage is when you have a finger stuck up your bum and your prostrate is tickled. Not, bad but difficult to get used to because it is an odd feeling. A ball massage, in my experience, is just that; more like a foot massage in the ball area. GREAT!

LOL, I see. Would seem kind of bold to walk into a place and say you needed someone to massage your balls or nutsack. Might draw some jaw dropping looks and/or outbursts of uncontrolled laughter.
