If anyone is around and looking to grab some drinks and food, share stories, let me know.
Unfortunately my Cartagena chica just went back, so I have some unexpected free time. I am staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. Only got here yesterday, so learning my way around.

I might pass by Santa Marta for a few days, then take the bus through Barranquilla and stay in Cartagena for 10 days or so. Is Santa Marta safe enough to walk around? I speak Spanish, and have mongered in a lot of latin america and the DR too. What about those places I mentioned there, checked them out? Are the locals friendly?

Bogota is out of sight. Go to Estacia Chica restaurant near Parque 93 and knock you socks off. Order the USA Steak. The best on the menu. If you don't like the place. I'll pay for you. For Chicas so what if there are a few in S. M. For every one here there are 10,000 in Bogota. So why bother. And Medellin too. Great places to eat and lots of girls. And for chicas Cartagena too. So many great places in Colombia. And I have lived in the three best. If you listen to the scare talk about Bogota. Stay in a convent the rest of your life. It is stupid talk. Obviously you don't walk around with a gold Rolex nor advertise that you might be lost or something. Really, if you travel so scared you shouldn't travel. I lived in Costa Rica 11 years. You are no safer in Costa Rica than Colombia. I can give you stories about armed robbery on the streets of Escazu at 2:00 PM. Afternoon. Relax. Enjoy.
And stop listening to the riff raff.

Apparently, there are some nice looking chicas at Bananas and Restaurante Diego Broaster. Not true? What's the name of the massage place you're talking about? Another punter on here said he took a chica back to Casa Isabella hotel with no problems. Aren't there any good places to eat in Santa Marta itself? I'm not planning on staying in Rodadero anyway. I'm going to Bogota next week for the first time, but have been put off by some of the horror stories being posted on the thread there recently.

I have lived and mongered in a lot of places around the world. And most places in Colombia. Save yourselves the trouble. Don't come to Santa Marta to find chicas. I live here. There is one massage place. Full of very fat girls. So what if you find one on the street. If you find one. What for? With Cartagena, Medellin and Bogota close by. Don't even think of wasting time and money coming here (I am leaving soon after being here 8 months) The restaurants here in Rodadero are seriously awful. REALLY awful. If you are a nature lover or beach lover you can find better than this place. If looking for a longer term relationship with a nice Venezuelan. Okay, might be good for that. Short of that you have Bogota, the monger capital of Latin America, without doubt! Again, best to not get curious about Santa Marta.

In a painful event that has caused consternation in the city and which is the subject of investigation by the authorities, a young man was found dead in the rooms of the Hotel Panamerican Historical Center of Santa Marta.
The victim was the young business administrator Fernando José theíaz Camargo, 33, graduated from Sergio Arboleda University, and son of the deceased merchant Gustavo theíaz Segovia and Miryan Camargo de theíaz.
The tragedy that today mourns the Diaz Camargo family was presented yesterday at 1:45 on Saturday afternoon, after his brothers found him unconscious in one of the rooms of the hotel located in Race 1 No. 18-23, where he also resided, and he was transferred to the emergency room of the El Prado clinic, where the doctors in turn indicated that he had no vital signs and formalized his death.
It was learned that the previous night Fernando José was chatting with some women, and apparently they gave him scopolamine and stole several belongings, including his high-end cell phone, wallet and other objects.
When his brothers noticed the time, it was strange why Fernando José had not woken up, so they immediately entered his room and found him dead; However, hoping to try to save his life and know what happened to him, he was taken to the medical center where he was informed that he had died hours before.
For their part, investigators from the CTI of the Prosecutor's Office and the SIJIN are already in charge of the case, to try to establish the motives, and find those responsible for this crime.
The Police reported that they are reviewing the hotel security cameras as well as the adjacent sectors in order to find evidence of the people accompanying the victim.

Any recommendations regarding places where to stay? I'm looking for something safe, clean (hot water would be a plus), chica friendly but also not overly monger-focused. Does that exist in Santa Marta? I'll be staying there before and after my attempt at the Lost City trek.
Thanks,
