In about 48 hours after the first vaccine announcement the Dow went north and the exchange rate went from 3870 to 3650. Not really sure what Biden, Harris or a 1st term Representative from NYC had to do with that?

The Peso was on it's way back up to north of 4000. Since these Biden assholes started taking control, the peso is slipping down damn near south of 3600. And if the current trend continues I can see this as far down as 3000. People went into the dollar and pushed up its value due to uncertainty. It was first about the virus and then the election. What is fucked up to me is how important politics are for business. Whichever party is in control does its best to fuck the money makers for the other party. Walmart is Republican, and Amazon is Democrat so money is going to go to Amazon or other Democrat companies. This really should not matter but it does. Money flowed into Democrat leaning companies once there was clarity on the election and out of the dollar / cash.

As for the exchange rate, it is based on a lot of things, but whenever there is a crisis like Covid, people will flock to the dollar. So Covid had more to do with the move up in the dollar than Trump did. In the long run, the rates are due to import and exporting of goods, interest rates, and inflation rates in the country. Colombia used to get many of its dollars from oil, and it used to be the USA would send out more of its dollars for oil over anything else, but that has changed a lot in the USA.

Anyway, there is no way we are seeing 3000 COP to the dollar for years. The reason is that the Colombian economy is a mess, and it is going to take at least 2 years for its economy to sort itself out. Internationally, no one wants the COP right now.

Arrived last night around 22:15. Very easy to get through immigration process. Filled out "Check-Mig" form at airport in Miami as this is required before you can board aircraft. They send you a confirmation in our email which you need to show to the gate agent who marks your boarding pass so you can board. At Bogota Immigration, the same info is required. The border agent will ask you to show him the email. Once he confirms you get your stamp and are on your merry way.

Everything has changed after Covid. I like and have been to the Marriott airport Courtyard and airport GHL and they were guest friendly before Covid hit but I would be surprised if they let you have guests in this Covid world.

I think you are better off getting a hotel in the Santa Fe region and getting one of the hotels that allows you to pay a small guest fee for visitors. Kazeu mentioned a two star hotel down there, and that is where I would go if you want to play. I am not sure if the cops let the Santa Fe hookers out after midnight (you might want to send Woodman a PM about that) but the women get going pretty early, and I am sure that you could get an escort to do outcall for when you arrive.

Outside of possibly going to a casa (and who knows what is open Sunday), I see no point in going to Chaperino for less than 24 hours.

Copa air cancelled my flight to Medellin early next month and I had the option to spend the night in Panama or ask them to take me to Bogota instead. I chose the 2nd option. Now I am going to arrive at Bogota about midnight on a Saturday night / Sun morning. I'll get myself a flight to Medellin around lunchtime on the Sunday. I'm not sure whether to take a taxi into Chapinero and get a hotel and go to a strip club, or just get a hotel near the airport. I'm tempted with just staying close to the airport. I like apartments more than hotels for a little more space and a kitchen with a working refrigerator and stove. I also like avoiding the guest fee discussion and it just feels better walking by a security guard than a reception in full view of everyone else.

Just checking, but is there any other options outside of AirBnB for weekly stays? I may convert to monthly, but I'm more likely to head to Medellin.

In 2 years I've been to Colombia 10 x. Each trip was a week or more.
