I was in Zona yesterday. No problems. Only more CBP staff and more barbed wires. I like "pedeast" border crossing (San Ysidro trolley station). I park my car at the trolley station in Chula Vista and take the trolley to the border and taxi to Zona. Very easy. Traffic near the border (on the US side) can be crazy and chaotic and parking $ 25-30/8 hrs.

Is there a day when everyone definitely leaves? I'm currently looking at being there for some number of days between the 14th and 20th.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I feel much better, and I didn't even think about people heading home for the holidays.

Thanks for the offer! I'll definitely keep it in mind if my plans change; in theory I start a new job mid January, assuming the boss doesn't withdraw his offer.

You should have no problems visiting Tijuana. The migrant caravan people will most likely not be a problem. Although I would check the news for any potential attempts to rush the border. By now the migrants realize that the border patrol and Mexican police will use tear gas other means to stop them if necessary. I suggest using Pedwest to cross the border if you walking across. There is almost no wait at all in afternoon or evenings. I would advise going as soon as possible. This because many girls go on vacation to their home towns in the south of Mexico.

My employer is putting me in Tijuana next week to support an audit by a US federal agency. As of today the audit is still planned as scheduled. I would think that the government has sufficient intel to know what's going on and would prevent one of their federal employees from going there if they anticipated a problem. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. And of course you know this means at least a few spicy reports should be coming up soon.

Travelling to Tijuana first timer, given border closure possibility.

Tijuana desensitized to violence 0 Next to Calle Sexta party area

I noticed that some people were becoming numb to the violence awhile back when all the ratero muggings were taking place in the Zona awhile back. Hopefully Mexico's new president can help curb the crime and violence in Mexico.

    Yes.

In addition to newly printed health cards, all of them ae required on the street to wear identifying headbands declaring whether they are from Honduras, El Savadore or Guatemala, or simply a "Trump Criminal" that tagged along for the ride.

3 Teens, 2 Of Them From California, Killed Execution-Style In Tijuana

    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry...b0606a15b51abb

Authorities in the violence-gripped Mexican border city are investigating the brutal slayings.

Two American teens and a Mexican teen were shot to death execution-style and left outside an apartment building in the Mexican border city of Tijuana, authorities said.

The bodies of Christopher Alexis Gomez, 17, and Juan Suarez-Ojeda, 18, both of San Diego, California, as well as Tijuana high school student Angel Said Robles, 17, were found in front of the Lomas Verdes housing complex at 5:50 am On Sunday. Robles is believed to be Suarez-Ojeda's friend.

According to local news outlet Punto Norte, the three teens were tortured before they were shot in the back of the head. No shell casings were found at the scene and not a single witness has come forward.

The LOS Angeles Times reports that Gomez and Suarez-Ojeda crossed the USA -Mexico border last Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, to attend a barbecue in Ensenada, a city in Baja California, Mexico. Relatives confirmed that the teens did make it to the barbecue, and they were supposed to return home the same night. When they didn't, family members contacted authorities and reported them missing.

    Immigration Lawyers.

    To HorseTrader.

If the government seized her house she should have sued them in China's court. I doubt if any migrants will be granted asylum based on any economic reasons alone.

Immigration lawyers both in US and Mexico have been known mostly to lie and give false hope to asylum seekers to steal their money. I know of many cases in which lawyers screwed their poor clients, each case out of $20-50 K. There are recent reports of whole families of seekers in Oakland suddenly got arrested and deported back to Bolivia without notice to them, after waiting in the US for 5 years, as their lawyers took the money then failed to file required documents or to show up in courts.

All federal filing forms have detailed instructions which are designed for people to fill out properly by themselves without needing aids from lawyers or accountants. Just read them carefully and fill them out, or you risk having your ass fucked and laughed at by unscrupulous lawyers.

If she actually gets asylum is another question, but she hired a lawyer who told her asylum would be granted. Perhaps the lawyer was blowing smoke to get billable hours, but she was convinced she would win.

If people like that are actually given asylum, I wouldn't be surprised if a many of these refugees are granted asylum status.
She cannot get in on grounds that the government failed to provide sufficient compensation for seizing her home. We do the same thing here and call it eminent domain.

    Asylum and Visas and Lawyers

Before the refugee issue exploded. Er ah, I mean during the Haitian refugee crisis, several girls asked me to help get them US visas. They said they knew lawyers who said they could get them visas for $700. I don't know of any of them who were successful. (No, I did not give anyone money for a lawyer.) I expressed my doubts. It is probably quite common for Mexican lawyers to make promises they cannot keep.
