What's the smartest way in your opinion to cross back into the US (I am a US citizen) in order to avoid delays.

I am most interested in avoiding delays (don't have the luxury of lots of leisure time, unfortunately).

I was at HK a couple weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon. Maybe 1030 to 1. Not many women there. No action on the 2nd floor. I only saw maybe 10 to 15 girls at most. I did spot girl. Me too, I used to feel guilty asking someone else. Especially if the new girl I am asking is standing right beside her. But not any more. I finally found some places where dollars get you a better deal than pesos.

In bars where the tipo de cambio is 19:1, the bartenders often round that up to 20:1, charging you 80 pesos for a $4 beer.

I always ask for both prices, and pinch my pinchi centavos accordingly.

If you are going with street girls, pesos are definitely the way to go. If you are dealing with local businesses in other parts of the city, pesos are definitely the way to go. In the bars and clubs of the Zona Norte, unless you are really concerned about penny pinching and are good with figures, just stick to dollars. The bars actually peg their prices the the US currency, so drinks are not any cheaper in pesos. Girls ask for dollars and most are smart enough to convert. I had a girl ask me for $80 on my last trip and I offered 1400 pesos (about $77). She got out a calculator and said it would be 1440 pesos. Sure, some girls may take a little less in pesos, but that is mitigated by the risk you take of trying to do mental math multiplying or dividing by 18.5. It's tempting to just use 20 for simplicity, but then you end up screwing yourself (offering 1600 for $80, for example). Street girls are different, as they will ask $30 but accept 300 pesos ($17).

As far as where to exchange, unless you are changing thousands of dollars, it makes very little difference. If you are changing $200 at 18.4 you will get 3680 p. At 18.2 it is 3640 p, which is a 20 p (or $1) difference. Is saving a dollar worth worrying about where to make the exchange? Not to me. I exchange at the kiosk right at the border. I could walk a block to save a couple of bucks (I usually change $500), but I rarely bother.

When I was a newbie 4 years ago, I slightly felt bad, only for the ones giving me free extras, but I never banged one out of guilt. There is a place I go to that is down the street from hotel Nelson. When paying in dollars for street girls, they will ask for $20. But I always convert my money and offer 200 pesos, which ends up being $10-$11 US dollars.
