I recently was in Buenaventura on business and thought I'd add some information for mongers.

Thist isn't a place for sex tourism, if anyone is looking for pastures new, nor incredibly is it a haven for those who like black pussy because although obviously there is plenty around, its not P2P however perhaps those who stay for a while might be able to find some local produce for regular consumption.

The "flashest" club in town is apparently a massage parlour, recommended by the taxi driver and 20 minutes away from the centre, and is called PK2 on calle 5A no. 42-12 Bellavista. The tax drivers know it as the 14 as there is a supermarket or something there nearby with the same name.

The club itself seemed promising at first neatly layed out private parking sofas why all. I thought that it was a mix between clubs in Bogota and european brothels.

However I was there at 5pm and obviously it was too early, I was recommmended to come back around 8pm where there would be more girls.

The place was safe and apparently for upscale locals for people visiting the port and obviously foreigners in town. Its a shame it wasnt properly organised for daytime activities, athought if you must have sex there are girls on the premises and I'm sure the manager would call you one at any time.

However, the quality of the girls was lacking, I did not see anything to my liking although the pretty ones might arrive later. The bossman seemed nice enough but after offering fatties and uglies I decided to quit.

Generally my opinion is that the girls here service the horny sailors or their bosses who after some drinks don't care who they fuck, however at 130, 000COP for 45 minutes it would seem better to go the red light area for a cheaper relief.

In any case I asked the taxi driver to take me there which is near the port in the centre. At 6pm it did not seem too scary with a church there and many families however there were some neon decorated bars, spotted a group of Chinese walking around onviously from a local ship. Could be crazy later on but certainly not like Santa Fe in Bogota.

If you are brave you might want to hang around here at night, but I would suggest a taxi driver to drive you around and pick you up when you are done.

Have anyone visited Turbo?

Seems to me that this city would enjoy the same climate as Cartagena, but with few foreign tourists.

That makes it interesting, at least to vivist for week or so, since Medellin, having it all but a beach.

I read on Wikipedia that the Panamerican Highway is broken above Turbo, so it seems dificult to access to Panama, even if it very close by which is part of the Catch 22 situation I encounter about leaving Colombia to renew my tourist visa. It cost $750 US to travel from Medellin to San Jose, where I have a dear friend, while the corresponding trip in USA, Europe or Asia would the like $100-200 US. The only cheap rout is to Ecuador, but it seems boring.

Wiki: Turbo lies near the southeastern tip of the Dariéand Gap and is the northern terminus of the main route of the Pan American Highway in South America. There is currently no paved road connecting through the region to Yaviza, Panama, where the highway continues through Central and North America.

Why is that? Intentionally?

Been hanging around here for the last 2 days, mainly to go to the hot spring termales in Santa Rosa de Cabal. Don't have much to report, I've talked to a couple of prostitutas in the El Centro area, but they started off asking 30K, which is ridiculous considering the looks and location. I didn't pull the trigger with any one of them.

I can recommend a good restaurant, its named is Urbano in the Bolivar Plaza Mall upstairs. For under $6 I had a big steak, plus pasta, plaintain, and a fruit salad too.

Keep in mind that Manizales is a much smaller city than a Medellin or Bogota so for some people it doesn't have as many choices or a big enough "scene" if you will. One also needs to keep in mind that Manizales has the highest number of universities per capita than any other city in Colombia. Universities = girls that need money and partying on weekends, 'nuff said.

In general mongering in Manizales is very low key, there is money in Manizales and the people in control prefer it not to be another Medellin. That being said, the locals need places to release their sexual tension just like any place so there are places to go, you just won't find them without the help of a local. My advise is to enlist the help of a taxi driver and if they don't help you ask another one. There is a small but decent strip club scene but it is in El Centro which at night is very dangerous, at least as dangerous as El Centro in Medellin, if I had to choose between walking at night in either place I would choose Medellin so if you go to the clubs in El Centro at night by all means go by taxi, DO NOT WALK, I can not stress this enough. I am very well traveled and the one and only time I have been in a life and death situation was the one and only time I decided to take a stroll in El Centro in Manizales and I was not walking alone. Anybody that lives in Manizales will tell you to stay out of there at night.
