    Newbie

I am newbie to Rio but not a newbie to ISG or mongering. I have read a big chunk of the Rio thread and Bubba's Guide (excellent report BTW; Thanks Bubba).

I have read and been told that the 5-star hotels on Copacabana are not girl friendly at all. My question: Is this policy absoulutely set in stone? I want to use my points at the Marriott for free nights. Is there any way I can bring girls in? Or, as a second option, are there safe ST motels in the area to use at a reasonable price? Is it safe to go to the girls' places or another place that she recommends? I will try the thermas but I do not want to limit myself to just this experience.

    Thanks.

    OAH

Now that would really grab my attention and leave me shocked. Hopefully that will never be the case.
Raids in centro casas and VM also occurs occasionally. The reasons may be drugs, minors, unpayed bribes, complaints from neighbours or political showoffs.
Casas getting closed down or moving to a new address happens every now and then.

The background to the Niteroi raid was that the police was investigating the murder of a football player who had sex with two GPs working at the 'Prédio the CEF'.
The police propably knew that there were minors working at the puteiro. They should know as their collegaues were working as security in the casa.

It's not ridiculous at all. They found 2 minors.

Actually, a lot of the fights are over girl shit, (eg she said that you said that I said, etc.) The low life putas are just more prone to get physical about small stuff.

No wonder the locals want to get rid of Balcony.

Then there's the straight up extortion, from say COMLURB guys who live on your street or in your building and basically just hit you up for cash with an implied threat. And then there's the people you may actually want to tip, like the guys at the corner suco stand you eat at at least 2x-3x per week, know your order, and give you relatively good service. Or the cleaning woman who comes 2x / week and deals with your filth, LOL.

Anyway, between now and New Year's, it's on.
Funny that you mentioned the COMLURB guys. Two fake garis, (garbage men) were arrested yesterday in Tijuca, asking for donations to their Christmas fund:
