I live in SE Asia and used to travel frequently to Taiwan. Last time I was there was in 2019 right before COVID went nuts. I had some ideas of places to go, but I guess most everything has changed since COVID. Additionally, I used to stay in Taipei, Taichung, or Kaohsiung. On this trip I will spend a couple of nights in Tainan, for the first time. I'm just looking for any tips on hostess type bars that may be around, or any good bars where you might be able to find some trouble / fun. Even just an idea of where there may be a concentration of bars would be highly appreciated! I see some mentions about JKForum, but couldn't quite figure out the site since my reading of Traditional Chinese is rudimentary at best. Any tips or ideas would be great. Thanks.

I tried using jkforum. Even with google translate it's seemingly not navigable. I tried facebook massage postings, but the first one I tried was a scam and wasted my time (they give you a general address and then when you arrive tell you they cannot accept cash and to use electronic transfer). Someone help me out here please. When I visited Tainan in 2020, a cab driver took me to some filipino dance club. I think it was called "Riverside". I cannot find the place anymore. It was a club with a showgirls stage, and seating area with a bar behind. The girls wouldn't strip, but would give you a lapdance if asked for.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about and if it is still open?

While we're on this subject, could we compile a list of clubs like these where we can enjoy some dance, drinks and a lapdance. More would be nice, but from what little I know, real public strip clubs simply don't exist in Taiwan anymore. Tianan is a mongering paradise. They even have line up in hotel. Can't believe you have problem finding places.

I've been lurking in the Taiwan forum for a while now and thought why is there not a Tainan thread. So I thought I'd start one.

There is a "massage" place which doesn't really offer massages as it's strictly a P4 P service. Located on 147 Zhong Yi Road Section 2. Price is NT1,800 for 40 minutes. You need to call ahead and make a reservation (PM me for the phone number).

I was staying alone a few days in Tainan, which I felt was kind of a bust all around. Was bored and looking for some action so I walked into a place near Section 1, Zhonghua East Road and Pingshi 5th Road. Big sign out front advertising 2 Hour Massage for 1200 and they were open late. Mamasan at the counter spoke no English, but was able to communicate that it would be 1 hour massage with HJ for 1200 or 2 hour massage no extra for 1200. I picked the first option. Masseuse was mid 30's, cute enough, maybe a 6, no English. Massage was not very good and annoyingly she kept talking through the walls to another girl and walking in and out of the room for 5+ minutes at a time. Every time the door would slide open, I'd pop my head up a tad just to make sure it was the same girl coming back in. Well about the third time this happened, I peeked up and saw the pant legs of three men.

For a split second I thought, "Oh shit, I'm going to get robbed." Then I saw that they were policemen. They had headlamps shining in my face and didn't speak any English, just asking me for my passport. I was spooked that this was some kind of prostitution raid and remember the lady up front being so open about the HJ situation. I hadn't done anything yet though so while I was afraid of being hauled off to some local police station, I stayed passive and played dumb. I didn't have my passport on me either which seemed to kind of piss1 them off. We tried Google translate which was no help. Eventually the head cop called a fellow officer who spoke English. Best if you just give them a big landmark like one of the big malls, but they can't read English mostly and I can't read Mandarin, so I hoofed it a lot and stayed close to my room.

Is this place near the Family Mart on the main road or in the alley in front of SunnyBank? Is there a sign at the door and what does it look like? Does it have a proper name? Are they foreigner friendly (read: non-Mandarin)? How are the girls in general? Saggy?
