Good to know. What about fish bowl local haunts? They tend to be much cheaper though a little rough.

I wouldn't recommend Cosmos, the only thing going for this spa is that it is next to Tunjungan Plaza, the most popular mall in Surabaya.

At the highest end you have Czar spa which houses locals, Chinese, Thai and sometimes Vietnamese and Russians. Other spas are Atmosphere and Celsius spa and Mr Spa.

If you prefer genuine massage with just HJ try Delta and Graha spa.

As usual, I'll submit reports as warranted. Having RTTFed I'm planning:

- Friday afternoon / early evening: I'm a bule who speaks no Indo but want to try a department store girl at Ciputra World Mall or Tunjungan Plaza.

If fail: Symphony.

- Saturday day: outdoor activity (surfing or hiking nearby that's any good?

Night: Spa (Cosmo or Czar / See'Zar) or Symphony if success night before.

- Sunday morning: Anything open at 10-11 am so I can get to the airport for a 2:45 flight?

Anyone who speaks English feel like partying?

Thanks. I usually stick with English speakers just because it is more interesting for me. Hotel staff are on my list but it takes time. As does some restaurant staff. Some of the girls are just better with languages and picked up English somehow while in some backwater indo places. Not that I am complaining. With the Internet, that pool will get bigger.

Can you post some suggestions on the Semarang thread about your experience? Stayed there a decade ago for a couple nights. Could not find much.

I likewise try to arrange meets in Bali but not all girls can do that once they return home. With plane, bus and train networks nowadays, it is getting easier than doing 6+ hour bike rides.

I don't speak Bahasa but I think I need to in order to access the more local market. Many of lady friends make it a point not to teach me! LOL

Like you it was 10 years ago I was in Semarang. I had contacts thru Yahoo chat in those days but did get one in Ciptra? Mall who kept on looking at me and had some English skills. I think it was called the ABC bar in one of the international hotels that looked likely but I was with another girl and couldn't test the waters but she didn't leave me any longer then a quick toilet break due to attention I was receiving from the other girls in the room.

I usually have 3 nights in Bali before I meet the rest of the family and between the beach and hotel pool I am usually occupied thru the daylight hours. Thinking about it I can easily transfer the afternoon before and have the night in Surabaya. Food for thought for my April trip.

I think outside of Jakarta and Kuta not much thought is put into other areas of Indo which is a shame because there are some stunning girls all over the country. The biggest issue as you stated is the lack of English but that can be overcome with google translator.

There was some action years back at Desperados Bar in the Shangri Hotel. Was a regular haunt of mine, and always came home with a gal. Not much happening before 10:00 PM. They had a live band.

Most definitely there will be an attraction from the girls. With Bahasa a little goes a long way so maybe pick up on some basics like Hello, etc. I'm a middle aged guy over weight and I go ok so you will be ok.

You must think like me regarding the department store girls. I have wondered how easy they would be to pick up and I get the vibe that they are interested in trying a bule by the looks that they generate. I will be in Bali in April solo for a few days and I'm going to try to pick up one when I'm there. I'm usually with my wife when I go to a department store and the looks they give me then are very promising.

Went to Surabaya and stayed at the four points by Sheraton hotel. It was very convenient because I stayed right beside the cosmo spa. The spa itself wasn't too impressive. There was nothing really to see and no facilities. Spent about 600 k on the massage room and the oil. I think it is because they saw me as a foreigner and upsold me this items. I wasn't impressed, but was too tired to argue.

They came out with a line up of girls. Keep in mind that I don't know how to speak Indonesian and no one knows really how to speak English (or they were just pretending). Got a girl, can't remember her name or number as it wasn't impressive. The massage lasted for about 1 HR and then after that, the fun began. I think my girl was on the rag because she kept her underwear on and indicated that she couldn't take it off. I felt padding underneath but am not sure. Either way, it was just a BBBJ. Nothing to write home about but the one thing that kept on annoying me was the she would keep wiping my member with tissue and the start trying to remove the small bits. A really turnoff.

Overall, may try again, but not with her.
