Stay away from this guy, cannot be said enough. He is known for pulling bait-and-switches on newbies and first-time visitors. You will arrive only to discover, that the place you agreed upon has been "rented out" or that the owner "suddenly decided to not rent it anyway" or other lame ass excuses. Of course he has a solution, only at a much higher price. And don't for a second think, that just because he claims to be American that he will be more honest or efficient than the locals. He lives there and is forced to do business on their terms, so his nationality means squat! There have been plenty of warnings against him, but do go ahead and stay with him, just don't say you haven't been warned. Vote with your wallet.

Hotel Cali Plaza on Calle 15. I guess thats the one you're talking about. I've stayed there a few times. I'd say its good and bad. US owner, nice guy, which means a fair amount of english is spoken there. Good location in the heart of the Ave. Sexta area, BUT at times you get noise from the discos close by.
There's actually only 4 hotel type rooms on the bottom floor. Upstairs are apartments. Decent rooms with the usual amenities. Warm water from the shower, safe deposit box, TV, queen size bed, frig.
They quote one price, but when its time to pay its something else. Sometimes even cheaper than quoted, I never could figure it out. Didn't ask. No breakfast in the morning. There's a few restaurants close by. All in all I would recommend the place.

Can anyone tell me anything about Torres de Granada? A friend living in Cali says I should stay there but when I Google it, it appears to be a long ways from everything monger-wise. I searched the board and didn't come up with anything.

Hi everyone,
I am going to Cali soon and am considering renting an apartment through Calirentals. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with this company?
I am asking because as far as I can gather, the member Grringo is the owner of that company, but I see that he is a banned member, so obviously this concerns me a bit, as I know Jackson to be a fair guy. Noone is banned without a good reason.
Anyone know why he has been banned? Did he cheat some forum members or is he just trying to promote his business without wanting to pay Jackson his dues?
In any case I am not very keen to submit my passport information, itinary etc. To a banned member.
Any information is highly appreciated.
Thanks!

his guest's real name.
Posts: 1[Deleted by Admin] or STRADDLER as he calls himself did stay at our Hotel and we did charge him two $8 dollar charges for the 2 visitors he brought to his room on 2 different days.
But that's not the whole story and we thank International Sex Guide for the opportunity to tell our side of the story.
A good repeat customer (amazingly successful with the ladies) came with an acquaintance this time. He had warned us that his friend was 'a little difficult' but we had no idea! Our customer had requested two $39 dollar rooms and since we only had one available at the time we upgraded our customer to a room with a computer for the same money since this was his ninth visit in the past 3 years.
Immediately, [Deleted by Admin] complained about the fact that he was being charged the same rate since his room didn't have a computer. Our customer brought us some hotel supplies from Florida so we gave him a complementary night because of it and since [Deleted by Admin] arrived with our customer the owner gave him a comp. Night too.
They stayed 4 nights, our customer had lots of ladies (8 plus), [Deleted by Admin] didn't do as well since he lacked communication skills and was unhappy about not being able to find vegetarian food but besides that everything appeared to be fine until the 5th day (Sept 26, 2010) when he got the bill and compared it to his friend's. He became angry and exploded when he realized we had charged him for the two visitors he had had (anything over an hour automatically raises the rate) but we didn't charge anything to our repeat customer.
We pointed out that it was specified on the registration form that he signed at check in. There is an additional one time $8 dollar daily charge for visitors to the room. We didn't charge our customer because at the owners discretion good repeat customers get additional discounts.
We couldn't understand all the fuss over $16 dollars especially after getting a comp night just by arriving with our customer since he was a complete stranger to us. We tried to reason with him telling him that the security gate tapes didn't lie and if necessary the police could resolve the matter. Our customer interceded and paid the $16 charge.
We have had several IMG members in the past stay with us like 'saint', 'simple man' and 'frijole' just to name a few.
These guys are extremely successful with the ladies because of the fact that they are good decent people to start with and never take advantage of situations or the ladies.
One last thing: I'm an American citizen of Colombian descent and the hotel's owner is a New Yorker of Irish descent. No Iraqui 'connection' here! .
We wish you all well and enjoy your visits to Cali, we sure do enjoy living here!

Folks, I cannot warn you enough to stay away from this place.
The place Hotel San Fernando (also called Hostal San Fernando) near Parque del Perro is outdated with old, thin worn-out mattresses and the smell near that computer from his dirty dogs is nasty!
More importantly, it is NOT girl-friendly. Sure, you can bring them over, but expect to pay OR be threatened with arrest. The Iraqi owner guy, Rigo Tafur, tried to charge me for two sessions when I checked out. I asked him about it & he said "all hotels in Cali charge for having a girl over", which we ALL know is not true.
When I said it wasn't fair, he pointed to the form you sign when you check in which does say "guests more than 1 hour = the $15 fee". I noted that the girls weren't even there for a whole hour! Even though I showed he was wrong, he threatened to call the police if I did not pay. He kept my bags 'hostage' while I went out to find an ATM for the chica fees.
Consider yourself warned. Find a better, cleaner hotel that won't charge you for bringing a girl back for less than an hour!
