logistics:

flight:

i flew united round trip from san diego for $760 and some change. three hours to houston and another three to guatemala city.

hotel:

i stay at the holiday inn located in zona 10 (the safest zona). i had an executive two room suite for $125 a night, plus $22 each night for taxes. there was a free breakfast buffet for one person, whether you had two people or not. the buffet was quite good. the hotel is not chica friendly. the hotel charged me $50 bucks extra when i brought back my first girl to stay the night. after i pissed and moaned to the manager, they let me bring back a couple of other girls with no charge.

money:

the currency in guatemala is quetzal. when i look at the exchange rate online, it was 7. 70 to one us dollar. i picked up $200 worth at the airport because i got in late. the rate at the airport was a shitty 6. 60. i was too fucking lazy to look for or go to a bank, so i settled on the holiday inn exchange rate for 7. 30. the difficulty i had with the currency was the 5s and 20s were similar in color, and also the 10s and 50s. but after the first night, i put the larger currencies in one pocket and the smaller in the another pocket.

sim card:

across the street for the holiday inn was a small plaza where i picked up a card and minutes from claro. it was dirt cheap, don't really remember the exact cost. i do not plan to return, so if anyone wants the card, just send me a pm.

transportation:

i got in guate at 10:30 pm and the holiday inn swore they would have a shuttle waiting for me; nope! first off, it was cold and windy outside and i was getting annoyed, so i said fuck this and jumped into a cab, which cost me 75q. and holiday inn refused to reimburse me the money. no worries, in the cab i met the driver julio and he turned out to be a great dude. i told him i needed a driver from anywhere from 3 to 6 hours a day, and i would offer him 10 us per hour; he jumped on the offer!

he impressed me the very first night. i took him in to every club we went. the first night, i ordered a couple of beers for a couple of cuties. the mesero brought back two coronas and julio told the mesero to take back the expensive beers and bring back the cheap local beers; that is when he started gaining my trust. he was always available whenever i called and always arrived early. if anyone wants his number, send me a pm. friday and saturday night, i would head out late to the afterhours club. 727. i always paid 30q to and from there. more on the club later.

food:

this was the surprise of my visit. the traditional guatemalan dishes were outstanding! my four favorite restaurants were hacienda real, kacao, arrin cuan, and casa chapina; in that order. the soups and stews were great dishes, and i had a great piece of beef at hacienda real. i went to hacienda real on sunday afternoon and the place is huge, and packed with locals! i also ate at a few local taco stands and the food was quite good.

the locals:

i found that the locals were overall very friendly and i only had one incident where i felt uneasy when leaving one of the clubs. i will expand on that later. the locals seemed pretty laid back, which i found in conflict with the high murder rate in the city. but i was not there long enough to really judge the people and city. but the people i did have contact with, seemed quite warm and friendly.

there is plenty of information on several boards concerning the clubs and prices. the place is quite spread out, it was hard to decide where to go first, and so forth. world travel 69 has a great list, including maps. artisttyp and blazers both have great reports. there was so much information, it took a lot of time going through it all. but thanks to all for your time and effort!

night 1 / thursday:

after i checked in and threw my stuff in the room, julio was waiting for me and we headed to the first club; madonnas. this was a nice club and there was around 10-15 girls there. there were a few hotties, one found her way in my lap. bought her a drink. 90q, and she was being quite playful. cost was 400q for 45 minutes. i was tired, thus, i passed on the offer.

next up was country club. this was a local hang out and i really liked the place. yep, i was the only gringo in the place, but i kind of like that anyway. julio and i settled in and within minutes, there were a dozen girls around our table. a couple hotties, a few cuties, and the rest were kind of chunky, some real chunky! the one i really liked was sitting with julio and he told me she was a good choice. no shots or mixed drinks available, so i ordered a half bottle of tequila with mixers. there was about 30 women. 200q for 20 minutes. 300q for 30 minutes, and so forth. ladies drinks were 50q. at exactly 1am, the police came in and closed the club. my understanding was that all the strip clubs closed at 1 am.

not to worry, we took the girl and headed to an afterhours club called 727, around zone 10. i really liked this place. when the clubs closed, many of the girls poured into this place looking for business. i was sitting with my girl and julio, and other girls would look at me and tried to motion me over to their table. even better, when my girl went to dump her bladder, the girls would come to me and start chatting. when my girl returned they all rep001tered like cockroaches, like when u-turn on the lights. i knew i would return. the girl and i headed to my room and we did our best to drink a bottle of corralejo, which i brought from san diego.

day & night 2 / friday:

in the late afternoon, julio and i was off to la linea. as soon as we parked, julio warned me about taking any photos. i must say, i've traveled a lot since 1977 and never, not ever, saw a place like la linea. the place is in zona 1 and it is about the most down and dirty place i've ever seen; i loved it! the place runs along railroad tracks, and there was quite a police presence. there are shabby rooms after rooms on both sides of the tracks. the rooms are large enough for a bed and a bucket of water. many of the rooms had girls laying on the beds waiting for their next customer. most of the women were large, but there were a few that were thin, but butt ugly. one could dump his load for less than 5 bucks. damn, if i wasn't temped, just for the down and dirty side of the place! with julio's help, i passed on the action.

on the way back on 5 avenida between zona 4 and zona 9, there was quite a bit of street girl action.

next stop was trying to beat the friday rush hour traffic and we stopped at club hathor, i think it was in zona 12? small place with about 6 girls. the price was 400q for 30 minutes. 55q for drinks for the ladies. we were there for 30-45 minutes, only one girl danced and she sucked at dancing. rush hour died down and we got the hell out of there.

i wanted to go to exceso, but the place was closed for whatever reason. so our next stop was at el paisa, near the country club. a rather big place with around 15 girls. the place was also a local crowd. the price was 300q for 30 minutes. we stayed for a bit, but no one seemed to want to dance, maybe they were on strike. at this point, i had julio drop me off at the hotel.

later in the evening, around 12:30, i jumped in a cab and headed back to club 727. got me a half bottle of tequila with mixers and waited for the girls to arrive. it wasn't long before my trusted mesero came by with two hotties and told me they were thirsty. as in the bud commercial,"here we go!" i really liked them both, but they would not commit to a threesome, so the blonde went back to the hotel with me and i told the other i would look for her on saturday night. a great way to end the night.

day & night 3 / saturday:

slept in real late, like around 3pm. i was moving slow; old age was kicking my ass for sure! called julio later on and he showed up on time as usual. our first stop was at club baron rojo. cover was 95q that included 2 drinks. it was about 7:30 and there was only 6-8 girls. i had a hottie that came and sat on my lap. prices were 400q for 20 minutes, and 500 for 30. a drink for the ladies was 100q, so i did not partake. was impressed with the club, but not with the girls and staff.

next up was la club; real close to rojo. quite impressive talent! but the prices were high. 700q for 45 minutes and 90q for a lady drink. 55q for my screwdriver. the dancers were outstanding. at 9 pm, the show started. all the girls came out, danced on stage, on the tables, every damn where. and most of them were hot! at the end of the show, all the girls gave a free lap dance to each and every customer, every girl! i was a happy camper, and julio was even more of a happy camper. this is when hanging out with me had its benefits.

last strip club for the night was platinum. this place had a great lineup of women. i was told that 40 were working; lost count after 30. i had a hottie jump in my lap and refused to leave. it was 60q for my screwdriver, and 700q for 30 minutes with the girl. the lady drinks were just plain silly. 100q for a small one. 200q for a bigger one. the meseros were relentless fucks, worst than any club in tijuana! as soon as the girl was on my lap, it was one after another that i had to swat off like fucking flies! i really like the girl, so i chose the mesero and ordered a small drink; it was like a tiny goblet; fuck! when she finished that, the flies were everywhere again. i told her to get up and go because i was tired of the annoying meseros.

as we were leaving, there was problem. there are parking dudes that help you park, and they are usually tipped when you leave. as we were about to get in the car, i heard this bald headed english speaking fuck that was across the street yelling,"my friend, my friend." he came over and asked where was his tip. i told him that i pay julio and he takes care of the tips, so ask him. he jumped in my face and said he wanted 20 dollars from me. i told him that i did not have dollars and went into my small currency pocket and handed him 200q, around 3 bucks. he called on his radio for backup and said,"give me 200 more!" i was fucking steaming, but did not want to deal with the scene, so i gave him 200 more, and said,"ya!" he said thank you my friend and wanted to shake my hand. i did not shake his hand and told him,"we will never be friends." at this point, i had enough and had julio drop me off at the hotel.

later on in the evening, i jumped in a cab and headed back to club 727. got me a half bottle of tequila with mixers and waited for the girls to arrive. the girl that i did not take back to the room the night before, showed up by herself with a big smile. we drank, danced, and chatted; not in that order. later she went back to the room with me for extended rack operations.

day & night 4 / sunday:

i planned to take a small road trip to antigua with the girl from the first night. julio showed up on time and we started calling her, but no answer. i told julio i would give her 30-45 minutes before i would throw in the towel. keep in mind, no clubs are open on sunday, so not many options except the tourist stuff. i finally reach her after 35 minutes and i heard a baby screaming in the background; not a good sign. yep, she cancelled. i told julio that it was no problem because i wanted to watch the playoff games anyway. i paid him for his time and off he went. i watched the first game at chili's and the second one in the room.

las casas:

julio was a great driver and person, but his navigational skills were worst than columbus! we tried to find the two casas in zona 10. julio even asked for directions from one of the street traffic cops. hell, the cop even drew a map on how to get there. he drove around, but to no avail. at one point, i wanted to say,"julio, you are good person and skilled driver, but i don't think you could find water even if you fell out of a fucking boat!" but i didn't say a thing.

conclusion:

guate had a lot more to offer, i barely scratched the surface of clubs and the girls. many of the working girls were from nicaragua. there were a lot of hotties in the clubs, and some in 727. but in general, many were chunky, some more chunky than others. would i return? at this point, i would say no. my time is limited and i want to explore more of south america. would i recommend the place? if you have no spanish speaking skills, i would say no. my spanish sucks, but each trip it gets a little better. i honestly feel that life is too short not to travel. it's a big world out there; explore!

Well I read a few post talking about Dave and I'm not sure if I'm like that as I don't do this for a living as I have my own business that just nothing to do with this, I would be more like point you in the right direction as to what you are looking for be it a type of girl, a place to stay, where to eat, were to shop and to avoid the "gringo prices" as we call them here, I am just offering help so any traveler has a better time and enjoys more his stay here in Guatemala, and I would be focused more on pros I do know a couple of places and girls that have a normal job and work on the side but they are few, so any more questions please let me know I'm glad to help.

Some comments about the VIP room at Le Club.

Basically left of the entrance you have a private place that you can join with a girl (or more.) paying the fee.

The fee is to pay for full or half bottle, being some kind of champagne bottle the cheapest, about Q1260.

From that fee, if I recall correctly, a bottle of Zacapa rum is about Q3500 and half about Q1800.

Included is the fact that the girl dances naked for you and that you will be there till you and the girl finish the bottle.

The big VIP room have small cabins, not closed even by a curtain, so the "actions" inside the cabin are open to everybody inside the VIP room.

This fact exclude having sex with the girl, if you want that you need to pay for the room fee, go up, your business and back to the VIP room.

Regarding take outs, if I recall it, Q1800 for a couple of hours and Q2200 for three or more, but you can ask a girl for take out after 01:00, not before.

Just throwing a quick report of my latest adventure. After extensive research, I decided on going to Exesco spa, but upon arrival, I found that it was closed. I would like to give an opinion comparative report. I am a 1st gen American from parents of Guatemala, I have of course mostly been in Guatemala to vacation because of that, and was introduced to the putas scene over there since a very young age from relatives over there, I have always believed I was always in the economic advantage whenever I would go over there due to the favorable conversion rate from USD to GTQ and have always thought that I was always bargaining when going over there. For the first time I went to a different country, and I have just realized how much money I have wasted in GT due to the fact that it is honestly overpriced (at least I am very young so its ok!)! Being pushed by a very close friend of mine here in the státes to go visit him with his family in Medellin Colombia, I decided to pull the trigger since going over there was cheaper than going to Guatemala (I paid $430 for a round trip with copa, there was nothing cheaper than $500 for Guatemala) I am in my third day here and yes, in my honest opinion the putas scene here overshadows the Guatemalan one by a long shot. I like exceso, the owner Oscar is a cool guy, but comparing casa exceso where one pays $50 for an hour service and some actually are charging Q300 for half hour (making $75 an hour) it is such a waste when I compare it here to New life which is a lotmlike exceso but with a lot more prettier putas. 3 times more and only 65k for hour service ($35 USD). I have gone here to another casa which is energy and paid 110k ($55 USD) for an hour service with chicas that are even more attractive than the ones that work at Le-Club and Madonnas charging Q600-Q800 for half hour. Even the lowest end of the scale here in Medellin is superior to many casa chicas in Guatemala in my personal opinion, la linea and el Guarda chicks street walkers aint shit. Conclusion, from being here Ichave realized how mediocre and overpriced the putas scene is in Guatemala City compared to Medellin, I believe that I will be making more visits to Medellin more often and just visiting Guatemala for family purposes. That is my personal comparative opinion.

Also I feel that Medellin is safer than GT city, I have been carrying my $140 pair of nike air jordans, my iphone around here, even in plaza botero, and have not felt that feeling of threat that I do when I am in gt city, so far nothing has happened to me here in Medellin, and I feel as if people here are a lot more calmer in that sense than in GT.

i went by ladysvip again in zona 13. their website is unclear about the address but i looked today and it is 5a ave 1-75, zona 13, between 1 and 2 calle. there is no sign or any way of knowing it isn't just another house. just knock on the iron door and a dude will look out the peep hole then open it up.

"Advanced" in this context means someone who can speak more than college level Spanish, who isn't afraid to venture out of the "Zona Viva" area, and who has the ability to rent a car and make their way around Guate. You could probably substitute a taxi for the rental car, but it will cut into your hobby budget.

At some point in my review of this discussion group I found a link to the Latin American version of "Craigslist". For those of you who do not remember or have not perused the posts here, it is called "mundoanuncio". A few weeks prior to my trip, I found an independent provider we will call "Daniela".

I conversed with Daniela for a couple of weeks, received pictures, phone numbers, etc. We agreed to meet at the mall known as the Proceres in Zona 10. It was close to where I was staying.

I arrived at the Proceres and stood outside the area where we agreed to meet. My eyes scanned around looking for Daniela. From her description and photo I knew I was looking for a short, thin, darker complected girl in her late 20's. This description fits about 40% of Guatemalan women. Daniela spotted me and approached me from behind. I felt a poke at my back. I nearly jumped out of my skin. I am generally on high alert to make sure that people cannot approach me from behind. Thanks. I'm not a big fan of the strip clubs and that's about all there is for the nights. A couple times I've called chicas that I met in the casas and arranged to meet them at cheap hotels for some night action, but that's a lot of effort! I really enjoy the casas during the day and that's enough. Usually I have a few cold cervezas and a good dinner at night.
