In those days a club would have many girls just dancing together on a dance floor or hanging out and you could pick one and the waiter would shine his flashlight on her and she would come over. The club we went to most was Hollywood (if I remember the name), and it had a swimming pool out back that wasn't really open to the public, but many WG's would hang out by the pool in the day. It was a good place to get a beer and some noodles and just hang out with the girls if you were a regular! Just wondering what Thermae's is like now?
    Wow.

Was Thermae at Soi 13 near Miami in those days? Can you tell us about other mongering experiences, like Soapy Massage places visited, etc. Where was the Hollywood Club? If you can remember of course. It is a long time ago. What did a Thai girl cost for the whole night?

37 years ago I was in a Soapy MP in Sukhumvit Soi 2 or 4 and girl was naked, but I had no idea what cost for sex would have been. She had zero English. I did not take much money with me, and no credit cards because I was just going for a jog for exercise and found the place accidentally. I don't know if sex was included in the initial price too. I was totally mystified and clueless but scared of catching an STD. Ha ha. No condoms I guess. I had to return to the wife unfucked. What a waste.

Thermae these days is 100-200 girls standing like zombies along the perimeter of the bar. 100's of horny Japanese men circling and pointing at girls and discussing their opinion of each girl right in front of the girl's face! It's hilarious. There is absolutely no dancing except in the girls' heads when a guy agrees to overpay the girl 3000 baht or more.
When he talked about dancing in the clubs, I don't think he was referring to Thermae, although dancing did occur there I believe for any who felt like it with music going. 30 years ago Thermae Café was not that small and it wasn't so dark as the girls could not be seen clearly without a flashlight. It was located at the mouth of Soi 13 very close to Miami Hotel and Thermae Soapy was upstairs (at ground level). Was it ever small? I am a little sceptical, but its possible, especially if there was some other location before that. Thermae was the place of last resort at 2 am, if guys had failed to get a girl else where and all the bars had closed. Even bar girls with no customer would possibly migrate to Thermae or The Grace. It was certainly very different to now, with mostly Farang customers.

I have a buddy who may have been to Thermae 40 years ago, so will ask his thoughts too. We would all love a time machine to go back, and I would certainly like to try 55 years ago. Its hard to imagine with my first time there being a mere 37 years ago. Must have been incredible and girls costing maybe 100 to 200 Baht for the whole night. They probably had no English and probably no surgeries and all big Bush no shaved pussies Ha ha. I should check what year the Baht was first used. They once had Ticals I believe. Just kidding! If I had first gone to Thailand at age 20 for example, my whole life might have been totally changed, I might not have married a Farang girl.

It would be great to read a lot more about 55 years ago, seeing we don't have the time machine. I don't want to see the future!

Your post is confusing because I don't know which country you come from nor if you had a Visa and what type. Did you ever get an automatic 30 days on arrival without a Visa? If you did, next time you will get one again. Any arrival is normally extendable by 30 days more if you pay at immigration, before you are required to leave. There is a limit to how many 30 day free entries are allowed per year. Consulates advise that 2 free entries are allowed. In practice, 6 per year may be feasible.

I assume your current Visa, if you have one, is not a multi entry Visa. A visa takes a whole page in passport. If you enter on no Visa or Visa waiver, then it may be just a smaller entry stamp.

On my last Visa run to Jakarta, I found it was far too difficult to apply for a Visa there and took days, so was easier just to enter Thailand again on a 30 day no Visa entry.

Price should be 2500 baht and a few recent reports of girls going for 2000 baht. There may or may not still be coffee there but there is food which is actually not half bad given this is a hole in the wall bar in the basement of a 2 star hotel.

More stories of the Good Old Days of 1965 please!

You should ask this on thaivisa.com.

Technically you should be allowed another 30 day stay upon return from PP. However, this is all up to the Immigration officer and there is absolutely no consistency in Thailand. Thailand does not want a person to be allowed in many times per year on a free visa. They want the person to pay for a multi entry visa or a Retirement Visa.

I think Bargirls are better than FLs overall, but there is the cost problem. FLs in the Thermae may act like they are on a tight schedule (not always) but depends how busy they are. Bargirls can rush customers too, but I rarely meet those types these days. You have more time in a bar to assess the girl's attitude. I have been lucky on occasions with attitude of FLs on Soi 4, (far more lucky than in Thermae). Also Soi 4 girls are more likely to prefer Farangs, and less dick scared.

Thanks for this and all the replies. What a really helpful forum this is. The contrast with the Kuala Lumpur forum is marked!

So I think my trip is finally sorted. I probably don't have time for HH now I'm headed also to PP. Which looks different and fun. But if I find Pattaya too much (v possible as I don't like the mayhem of Bangla / Phuket) I may head to HH even if only for a day and night.

    Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

The beach in Hua Hin is ok. The water can be a bit murky some times during the year and they do have jellyfish. I've been 3 times but always with family so I haven't checked out the mongering scene. I was there in October and the city had grown a lot since I wa there about 5 years ago. I've read, but cannot confirm, that there are more bars for P4 P these days.

If you want to do Pattaya and Hua Hin then I would go straight from the airport to Pattaya and then over to Hua Hin, I sure there is a direct ferry between the 2. Then return to Bangkok. Heaps of accommodation available everywhere so you may only want to book a night or 2 to start. If you like Pattaya then you can skip Hua Hin and stay there or just go back to BKK.

Phuket is a big Island. Patong Beech is the main touristy and mongering area. There are many quieter spots in Phuket, but still touristy.

If intending Phi Phi, one can combine it with Ao Nang, Krabi (which is what I did) and that can be a bit cheaper than Phuket. I took a hot Thai girl with me since I did not expect much mongering on Phi Phi (I would not really know). This meant I had a great time. Small scale mongering is available in bars at Ao Nang Krabi.

To do Phuket and Phi Phi (or Krabi and Phi Phi) really requires at least 4 days I think, but you are pushed for time. Yes you can stay in Phi Phi just one night. It's possible but rushed. So only if you are hating Bangkok and Pattaya. Personally, I don't like to be in a huge rush.

At Phi Phi, you hire snorkelling gear and a long tailed boat to go to the beautiful bays with coloured tropical coral fish to see. Better still if you have a sexy Thai girl along with you. If she can't swim, no matter, they have bouyancy vests and flippers available to give non swimmers confidence. Snorkelling trips are available from Ao Nang as well (without going far to Phi Phi).

I did PP for one night (too rushed). Found that most PP girls were a bit different to Thais and not quite as appealing to me. The girls that came from places close to the border of Thailand, looked much more similar to Thais. Hardly surprising. Need to try again some day.

Not sure why Bali was recommended. I would never go there again. O.K. as a beech resort, but Balinese girls for the most part are not that pretty for my taste, especially once they get over 20 years old. They seemed to decline rapidly with age (too much sun and hard work maybe) and looked very old at 30. Also the more rounded face shapes did not appeal. I am biased towards slim face shape and narrow jaw. The good looking girls in Bali were usually Javanese.

Funny we are considering other places for a good beach since the Thai officials believe Pattaya is a world class beach resort.
I understand. Sorry for the confusion. Main goal is good mongering. So for example, I'd like to go to Koh Lanta but don't believe it would have much in the way of mongering options. So despite the apparent beauty I'll skip it. Same applied to Langkawi.

If there are none, or poor mongering options, that would rule it out. I contemplated Hua Hin due to Redcat site suggesting it was really good but the forum doesn't suggest so. I also thought the beach there was good but apparently not presently. If I can get a combo of a really nice place to visit with good mongering options that would be best. But really nice place to visit doesn't have to be beach. You post made me seriously look again at PP and the flights are both cheap and easy from BKK. I'd like to experience Cambodia and / or Vietnam. I've arranged already 2 days in the mayhem of Pattaya- not because it is pretty. I guess it won't be. But because (1) I've never been so have to try once and (2) the options appear to be many. I'll do one night in BKK despite not loving the city as I like the sound of Thermae. I'm fortunate not to be on a budget so I would hope I would do well there. Looked at the PP forum and I like the sound of the KTVs which sound great fun.

But not sure I want to spend all three of my spare nights in PP. I've been to Bali but not Jakarta and as I need to head back to Europe after the 6 days and have my return flight booked back to FRA from LK that sort of rules out Jakarta and Bali as it is just going too far east.

I like the idea of PP over Phuket as I'm not a big fan of Bangla / Phuket. I liked Samui as not as much mayhem as Phuket but PP has definitely opened another avenue and I like trying places I've never been to. And not been there. I like to have something interesting to see in the daytime (touristy) and PP looks like a cool city.

Many thanks for the replies gents. I have a feeling Syzgies is right about cutting travel down.

Nobody commented on Samui which was a little surprising.

Never been there. Some traveler on the web wrote the beach is full of huge jelly fish and has big sewage pipes running into it. Is that the case?
