I can tell you're a mellow easy-going guy. I'm learning to be that way too. This has happened to me 3 times now and honestly it doesn't even bother me anymore. I guess I let it stress me out the first couple times because I was already running late. And plus you already know if I tell a chica I'm on my way and she gets another guy ready to buy her fichas she's not going to turn him down just to wait on me. Some times every second counts when you're racing to the booty.

Yeah I can see your point with a chica dropping you if you are late. I just have special experiences with those yellow taxis that getting me to where I am going is a seen as a success. One time I almost got into a fight with a gorilla cab driver that outweighed me by 100 pounds and about a foot taller who demanded a big tip. The other time I got cursed out for refusing to take a $10 ride to HK. So getting gas is a minor offense.

I got to rant about these uber drivers stopping to pump gas. I guess this is also a "culture" thing. And it's happened to me on several occasions so I know it wasn't just a a one-off type of coincidence. Of all the times I've taken an uber or Lyft in the US I've never had a driver pull over and put gas during the ride that I'm paying for. US drivers know that if they're too much of a lazy inconsiderate a-hole to pump gas before accepting a passenger that they will lose their tip and get a low rating. But in Mexico I guess they see things differently. I know what they're doing they're so tight with their pesos they wait until they have a paying customer to actually go and buy fuel. It's such an ass backwards mentality, and in the US would be considered a total dick move, but it seems to be accepted practice in Tijuana.

I've has taxis asking me for an advance payment, stop on the way to the border and get gas. I didn't think anything of it. Probably the same if a Uber had to get gas.

It was 50 pesos. I guess I would be insulted if I was paying $50 USD. I set my expectations to coincide with the amount of money I pay I guess.

I must not be understanding something about this discussion. If my uber driver winds up being low on fuel, why would I raise a hissyfit about him or her pulling into a gas station and buying gas?

I would not prefer to run out.

I prefer people planning ahead, and not making -me- 15 min late as part of -their- ride service.

I had a client tell a story once about a driver who had to stop to get gas and broke down (emotionally) at the gas station because he didn't have the cash to fill up the tank. (he said he lent him the money, and the driver was grateful and repaid it.) Sometimes people lack the cash necessary just to get to work.

The problem is he knew very well he had an empty tank before he accepted a trip. That's his responsibility to have his car fully ready for the next passenger, and that includes having enough fuel. I'm paying him to get me to the hot chicas and cold beer as directly and quickly as possible. I'm not paying him to stop and put gas, slowing me down, something he should've done before he made himself available on the app.

What I'm not understanding is why you smd spend every second of your sad life being an annoying troll on a Tijuana monger board, when you don't even monger and you don't even go to Tijuana.

I take a lot of Ubers in Mexico and it has never happened to me. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen. But also suggests it doesn't happen that much. Let people provide their experience without attacking them.
