After trying and failing to find the BBS detailed in post 4341, I tried a place later in the day that I saw in Myeongdong. I can't remember the subway exit, but it's just on the opposite side of the road to the Pfizer building and it has a sign outside saying 'sports massage'.

I went inside, up to the third floor and was met by a woman in her late 30's or early 40's, in pretty good shape but no spring chicken. She showed me a menu which was in Korean and I pointed to the 80,000 option figuring that this was the going rate for a massage and HJ. I was then led to a dimly lit room with a bed and a sink at the end and given a pair of shorts to put on. She took my clothes from me as I undressed and put them in a cupboard then indicated for me to lie on my back so that she could wash my feet in the sink.

So I did have a cruise around on Wednesday night, and here are my profound findings:

Wandered around Posco Tower area as suggested, and saw plenty of massage places and some anma. None of them seemed particularly inviting (or forbidding), just open doorways with nobody around.

Then took a taxi up to see hooker hill, just for a contrast. Now, I spend many days in Thailand, so hooker hill was a disappointment, to put it mildly (and my expectations were very low anyway). Half a dozen deserted bars and a few trannies in one dingy street...

So the deal was, before negotiation, something like: All night until 4am(!) 800K; 2 hours 400K, etc etc. Couldn't be bothered to negotiate so I offered 100K, and she responded with a suggested HJ. Finally made my excuses and left. So total cost of 25K I had 2 beers and chatted to a couple of girls for half an hour or so. Bargain. But OK for the knowledge gained.

I'm only reporting this for info, so please don't tell me all the things I should have done, etc. In fact, I realised half way through the evening that I had no desire to have sex with a stranger. Certainly not one who would be watching the clock. Just fancied a bit of exploration of Seoul, and my money is saved for Hong Kong day after tomorrow. But failing that I have 5 days in Singapore with the delicious Shrimp from Bangkok first week in October, and 10 days in BKK and Pattaya in November, and that's where I'll spend my money.

NB that in my directions, now that i think about it again the final turn should be a left instead of a right. Anyway, from the IH you just walk back down Teheran-no - the main drag in front of the (original) IC to the designated subway station exit, turn around and follow the directions stated. Thanks for your advice. Now I have been invited out for dinner on Friday by Korean contact. Hoping it might become interesting, but it turns out he is a big classical music fan... We might end up at a concert rather than an MP.

Never heard of phone club either...

Phone clubs are seedy joints in seedy neighbourhoods/buildings, and all you do is pay money for a list of phone numbers and take that list to a (usually) private space to let your fingers do the walking. Most are of the older, bored housewife type, and it's up to you to close the deal (everything negotiated with the lady) and arrange a place to meet.

Someone mentioned phone clubs earlier, and I wanted to get some more information for my next visit. What are they and where can the be found?

They're not found in any one particular place, although I do know of a few around Shinchon station, in behind/beside the Hyundae Department store there near the rotary. Not usre if hanul is recognized by the forum software, but such places will be recognizable with signs (nothing fancy, just lettering up on the second- or third-story of a building) that will read hyoo-gye-tell, hyoo-gye-bang, hyoo-gye-shil, or maybe even chun-hwa-shil.

Phone rooms are old-school mongering for Koreans. I would be surprised if a non-Korean would be let in at all, and even if they are, the entire deal and phone conversations will be entirely in Korean anyway. So if you don't speak pretty fluently, this is not an option that will benefit you in any way.

If it's a Korean site and it is your Residence/Citizenship number, then there are no problems. The problems come in when it is not your number or if you have a non-Korean residence number (many websites, even non-porn sites, do not accept foreign residence numbers. Some do, but most don't; Korean numbers begin with a 1 or 2, foreign numbers begin with a 5, usually).

Yes, hardcore porn is illegal. Koreans have even been arrested for making and distributing porn FROM CANADA (where it is LEGAL). They came back to Korea and were arrested for the movies they made legally in another country. How fucked up is that?
