Forgot to mention to not take the bus on the weekends which added 45 minutes to my trip. The pedal bicyclists jam up the highways. I swear there was 100 of them on the highway singles, doubles, and packs of them. I assume Medellin is not the only city with tons of bicyclists. Very hard for trailer trucks and buses to pass them when they act as if they own the road.

The bus stop in Manizales has a tram at the same location that goes to the center of town. It may be easier to get off the bus, take the tram to center of town (which happens to end near their huge shopping mall and touristy area), then get a taxi from there.

From Medellin to Manizales (the closest of the 3) it is supposed to take 5 1/2 hours. Plan on 7. I did it about 15 months ago. The road hugs the mountains. They were adding 7 bridges then to straighten the road so the road was not hugging the mountains in the worst spots where the corners are many and sharp which causes the trucks with trailers and buses to really slow down the traffic. Going between the cities it is stupid to take anything but buses.

How would compare it to Medellin el Centro scene? In terms numbers and maybe safety (are there many homeless & glue aficionados in the area? Do the police venture there?

Is there a similar stream of shoppers and tourists there as in Med or it's more of a party / bar scene (like street between the back of the church and museum in Medellin)?

Does the action happen all day or mostly afternoons?

Well, just your opinion on how does it compare to Medellin el Centro would be appreciated, if you don't mind.

It's like a smaller version of cra 53 in medellin that you mentioned. Lots of bars, loud music, girls in front of the entrance to the bars and hotels etc. It's 24 hours but there's more chicas in the early evening around 5 pm to 8 pm. Safety wise there is more of a problem with homeless and people asking for money / food but I never felt unsafe. There is a police presence and even military presence during the daytime hours but I don't remember seeing them as much at night. And as far as shopping there are a few malls one popular one is called centro comercial unicentro and I believe there are a cple others. There's a small square plaza in the center of the city called Parque Santander which is a really nice place as well.

Between Bucaramanga and Cucuta which one would you recommend for street and casa scene?

Cucuta 100%.

Bucaramanga doesn't have much of a street scene at all from what I have seen the 2 times I have been there. Not sure about casas. Cucuta on the other hand has a thriving street scene. Ur gonna wanna stay at Hotel Mar on La Septima across the street from the bus station. If arriving by plane just tell the taxista to take u to Mar Hotel and if arriving by bus just walk across the street there by that overpass. It's a decent hotel 50k COP a day with a fan or 73k a day with AC (I recommend the AC room). From there u just walk about 3 blocks up the street to get to the action. Lots of street girls from Avenida septima and calle cuarta all the way down to where the park is and on both sides of the street as well as side streets. Also there are many bars where u can grab an Aguila light for 5k COP and theres girls inside the bars too. Going rate is 25k COP for a half hour session that's 20k for the girl and 5k for the pieza. If u like caldo de costilla there is also a hole in the wall restaurant with plastic red tables and chairs that has excellent caldo de costilla in the mornings (better even than in Bogota) and i believe it's like 6k for a big huge bowl and it comes with 2 arepas and coffee or limonada.

I think Cucuta should have its own forum separate from "other areas. " it's the largest city in Eastern Colombia and has a thriving P4 P scene. It doesn't make sense that a city like Santa Marta (which is smaller and has a smaller P4 P scene) has its own forum but Cucuta doesn't. Even Bucaramanga has its own section and the scene there is almost non-existant

OMG! I had to read this several times. I thought you meant a swimming pool with a bar with hookers. There are a few upper scale hotels across the park and within a blocks distance that could have a pool. You seemed so amazed of the "girls walking into and sitting in it". You "summoned the courage to go in". Sounded like the girls walked into and sat down in the pool and you summoned the courage to go into the swimming pool, because it would not take any courage to walk into a simple billiards bar. You were so excited to know if there were any more like this and I would want to know too. But you are talking about a bar with billiards and with hookers? You have some kind of hard on for billiards? What is so amazing about a bar with billiards and hookers?

Yes, I meant where you can play pool not a swimming pool. But I can see how that could be misunderstood! I shagged plenty of hookers I found online in Pereira. But what was cool about the place was that it wasn't like some seedy obvious touristy hooker place in Medellin. Which I wouldn't go within a mile of! It was an under-stated working class place that I would have missed unless those hot ladies walked in just as I was passing by!

I don't mind what you think, but to me it was kind of exciting because I haven't seen any other places like this in Pereira or elsewhere in Colombia. If you know any of the others there, please let me know. And when I say 'summon the courage' I just meant in a new Colombian city for me, I'll be careful wondering into bars by myself in areas I don't know! Nothing to do with having the courage to chat to the hookers!

At first I wasn't sure what was going on, but after I summoned the courage to go in, have a few beers and chatted to a couple I realised they were hookers. It's the only place I've come across in Pereira and even the whole of Colombia like that!

My question is are there other bars like this in Pereira? Or in the surrounding cities like Armenia and Manizales too? If you know of any others please let me know. This was another place I briefly visited this past trip. It's a town located about 2.5 hours south of Medellin, at least according to Google. The reality is that 3-10 hours could be your travel time. Busses are available from the South Terminal in Medellin and stop across the street from the Terpel gas station in La Pintada.

La Pintada is more of a family destination. It's not a good choice if you're wanting to party hard at the pool with 3 hookers. The climate is supposed to be slightly warmer than Medellin, but I think it's about the same. It was comfortable, a bit warm during the day.

I suspect, there might be some discrete P4P available, but you probably would need to put in some time and effort to find it. I did see a few women in town who were stunning, so if you're a talented unicorn hunter, you might find a gem there.

Stay was at Hosteria Las Farallones a Comfenalco property. Their room rates are structured based on income category, with a high and low season rate. High season rate is a max of 162 k per night, meals included. Food is decent comida tipica. There are a couple of pools, a kiddie pool, a hot tub and several pool tables (the kind with balls, not the kind where you set your drinks by the pool. They have those too). There is a small bar. Rooms are air conditioned and clean. Pretty basic. I think there was hot water in the shower.

The area is good for nature lovers and bird watchers. The hotel is just over a mile from the town, which is split by the Cauca River. There are plenty of restaurants. There is probably a lot to do in the area in the way of hiking and possibly white water rafting. I didn't check it out as well as I normally would.

The roads there can be treacherous. My return trip took 10 hours because a landslide closed the road. The main road from Medellin is closed due to damage from the earlier floods. Once it reopens it should be better. They are also building a new highway heading that direction. When completed it should speed things up.

As a solo trip, unless you're a backpacker or bird watcher, it probably isn't worth it. If you're searching for unicorns, it might be a destination, but I don't know how successful you will be. If you have a semi-regular girl who wants to get away for a few days, it might be a good destination. There are several other resorts in the area and the Comfenalco property has some larger bungalows available, which might be nice.

Comparisons are generally pointless but I am not looking to keep going what I was doing during my last trip. That got to be too much, even for me. Forgetting who I was fucking 20 minutes earlier while fucking the next girl. Not being able to name most of the girls I fucked in a day. Forgetting the name of the girl while I was fucking her even though I fucked her twenty times before. Waking up and seeing the lump under the covers and seriously not knowing who it was. Finally, the worst stage of all, which took me back to my man-whoring days in college that weren't some of my proudest moments, forcing myself to fuck and have sex when I didn't feel like it because of exhaustion and being "petered" out. Sound like fun? Obviously not. Signs of an addictive personality disorder? Probably. I am hoping to settle down more this trip and am thinking about one girl at a time for a few days at a time.

I say that but then there is this apartment I got going in Castilla with Scarlet where the possibilities look very enticing. There's already three girls there including Scarlet, all of whom I know very well. Still two empty bedrooms. I just wrote Nymphette, the new chica I met near the end of last trip at Hotel Puta and asked her if she wanted to move in there. Rent less than 500 mil per month split four or five ways would be nothing even for them. Nymphette's big thing at the moment is she wants a kitchen so she can stop eating "street" food. I get that.

Obviously, not if, but when I start staying at that apartment, it's not going to be "one girl" at a time. But it should be a more relaxed atmosphere without appointments and all the coming and going. Who knows what MDE has in store for me this trip? Nuthin' left but to Keep On Keepin' On.

It's been on my radar for 5 years. My ex-roommate went there with her novio and loved it. I enjoy the isolation for a few days. I've done quite a bit of off the map stuff in Idaho, Washington, New Mexico and Arizona, also in Mexico, where I accidentally ended up at at a gate guarded by heavily armed men at 1 am. They were nice enough to give directions.

However, the years have taken their toll and I'll probably not return unless it's during whale watching season.

Still mongering. #1 will probably be fading away after this week. Sexually she's too passive for my tastes. Once she gets started, she's great, but she doesn't initiate anything. In every other way, she's great. No complaints. Plus she can do a backflip and then drop into the splits.

#2 is up in the air. She has put on some weight, mostly in her tits, but I'll have to see how she's carrying it. On the other hand, she's self-supporting.
