Baywalk Residence is GF. The Mini Suite with sea view is very good. Cost 4500 Baht a night breakfast inclusive.

I stayed at the Hilton last time but it's a bit too expensive. 330 right now. Avani would be a great fit but they now have a big joiner fee and room is pretty pricey. Any ideas?
I just quickly checked for check-in 4 days from now. From what I can see lots of hotel availability and prices don't seem that bad. I see Hilton at 6700 baht. Siam Bayshore steps from Walking Street for 2900 baht. A bit further out but still on baht bus route there is the luxury Dusit Thani at 3700 baht. Another high end hotel is Royal Cliff for about the same price 5 minutes from Walking Street if you have a motorbike. ISG favorite Baraquda is 3200 baht and very convenient for Walking Street and LK Metro. If your budget is lower PM me with your exact dates and I will find something within your budget.

edit - as PL just posted, Page 10 on 2nd Road is also a very good choice. Baywalk Residence is girl friendly.

1st trip during high season. Lesson learned

So I am taking off for my first high season trip in four days. My low season trip in Sept I noticed prices got lower the last week or few days. Due to plans not being set in stone in regards to a Hua Hin trip I hadn't booked a room uet. Today I learned why it's called high season. Duh. Siam Siam and a few others I had my eye on from last trip doubled in price and / or sold out. My BKK room at four points sold out too.

My question is this. I'd like something a little nicer than LK empress and Areca. Close to walking street. Preferably with a balcony and a pool bar would be a bonus. GF obviously.

I stayed there last year. Nice hotel. Wonderful breakfast. No problem with a guest. Good location right at the far end of Walking Street.

    Mera Mare, Pattaya.

Green as of December '17. No problems at all. However, the walls of the room seem to be paper thin with a lot of unwanted noise coming in from the adjoining rooms, corridor etc. Why I am mentioning this is because it can be quite irritating especially when you are trying to catch some sleep. Would advice some caution in this regard. In so far as room amenities, cleanliness etc. Is concerned, have to say it was all of nice standard. No issues in this regard.

I know, this is common practice in most hotels. But you said that YOU had to sign this form. I find that strange because I never have to sign this form. Only my guests have to do that.

Holy shit! Trust me, that's not me. I'm not in Thailand at the moment, some other lucky guy I guess.

No doubt, it's overpriced. In past one year I have been to Thailand 4 times, used Airbnb booking every time. Due to Christmas and new year holidays all nice condos were fully booked, so had to book this hotel in last moment. But no more, the hotel disappointing me this time. Thanks for your helping hand, will definitely contact when I go next time.

    Guests vs. Joiners

People seem to be using the words "guest" (global term) and "joiner" (more a Thailand term) interchangeably, where they have quite different status as far as the hotel is concerned:

Guests are registered to the room. They have charging privileges to the room account. They can request a room key at the front dest.

Joiners are someone who is visiting you at the hotel. Technically they should be in your presence at all times. As far as the hotel is concerned they are not staying there, but hotels want to log them in for security purposes.

In some Hotels for the safety of guest visitors have sign and leave a ID At the reception and when leaving you can collect it. So the guests won't steal or leave without you being present when leaving at the reception.

It'd be a great help if they can address this matter.

As always the hotel never disappoints, good location and nice rooms. However, there are few things I didn't like this time I would like to highlight.

2 - I had to book a taxi for Bangkok for which made some local calls since my mobile balance was almost finished. To my surprise they charged me 100 bahts for three local calls, each of them lasting from 2-5 minutes. A rip-off IMO. I was in the assumption that local calls were free of charge. Nevermind, I learned my lesson.

Mark my words, never make calls from hotel phone and don't use their laundry service. It's a rip-off.

Breakfast was nice, 1000 bahts deposit they returned while checking-out. Overall, it's a nice hotel in medium budget. I feel their business is a bit dull these days due to which some nice promotions are going on.

    Areca Lodge.
