Will be in PTY June 12-16 with a buddy of mine. Have been to PTY multiple times in the past. Really all we have ever done is the strip club/massage parlor (GT) scene and paid prices that seem way too high (between bar fines and gringo pricing at these places. ST is like $150 and TLN is like $230+) compared to what others say they pay. I am told that some people are paying $40, $60 and $80 ST or even for TLN. Other than going to the Cigar Bar, casinos and regular dance clubs where would you go? I am curious at what kind of rates you are paying "now", meaning recently. Is it for locals, colombianas? I have been approached by street girls and others for $100 ST. Again this seems too high.

I welcome any specific tips and would really appreciate it. Flames/attacks for not being as good at the hobby as you are NOT welcomed. Better yet, if you are on the ground in PTY and will let my buy you a beer or two, I would love to pick your brain while we are there.

I just returned from a trip to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama.

I've been going there for about 5 years now...think I've made about 8-9 trips all together.

I always wanted a cell phone to have at my disposal in Cen. America - to make and get calls from all the babes.....but never had one until this last trip.

I was able to buy a new cell phone for $ 20.00 plus a $ 10.00 card in Managua, which worked there and it also worked in Panama City.

Costa Rica is a whole another story. Cell phones are very expensive there and you can't get cell phone service unless you are a resident or you buy the rights from a resident.

Laptop computers - These are luxury items to Central Americans. You can buy them, but they go for 2-3 times what they will bring in the States.

I have been taking some small laptops down there for years and can easily sell them for twice the going rate there.....as in the States.

Last trip I sold a used IBM 240 laptop for $ 250.00 to a local in Managuan. He had spent some time in the US....and was absolutely thrilled to get that laptop.

Handhelds....like the HP Ipaqs, Sony's, Dell Axim X50, etc. Very small...about the size of two cigarette packs side by side. Great little full computer that does the internet and Email...and if it has Bluetooth and Wi-Wi - will also do it wirelessly anywhere there is a Wi-Fi location.
Plus most of the handheld puters will also do GPS too....double duty in one very small unit.

Color GPS units. About the only one that really works in Central America is the Garmin GPS units. They have the WorldWide maps for the whole world.

All the other brands work well....but no maps for Nicaragua, Costa Rica, or Panama....except the Garmins.

I have about 6-8 of the very small IBM laptop computers running Windows ME and GPS.

Also about 4-5-6 of the small handheld puters that are running the Garmin GPS with moving/talking maps of all Central America, South America, the Far East, the whole world.

Cell phones....I will just tell you what and where to buy them....no charge...and you can get your own for Central America - cheap.......except in Costa Rica....for the reasons above. You can rent a cell phone for Costa Rica but they usually run about $ 40-50.00 for a week or so.....which is more than my budget can stand.



My prices are very reasonable........the small slightly used handhelds units with color gps start at $ 80.00

I can fix you up with a new Garmin wide screen 4.3 inches, color GPS unit....new in the box with a one year warranty from Garmin for less than $ 200.00 .
I will preload all the moving maps of Central America on it too. If you want all the World Wide maps...then figure on adding on about another $ 30.00

O. K. , so you want to try generic V. , generic C. , and generic L. You do not want to get ripped off. You want a small enough order so that if it does not work for you, you will not feel "violated". Where can you turn?

I know a guy in Panama, but now in he's in Colombia for the next 2 or so months (Until Dec 2008/Jan 2009). This guy can help you out with your search for vit. V. , vit. C. , and vit. I have dealt with this guy, in Panama, several times. He says that he can also ship the generic V. and generic C. to the U.S.

If you want to chance it, go for a small purchase.

It will probably be delivered with no problem if it is a small order in a padded envelope rather than a box.

Look under the "Salud" section in the classifieds on the weekends.

There is a guy (Canadian or American) who sells generic V. 100 mg, and generic C. 20 mg, for $3. 00 each pill, or less (in large quantities). The pills are from India and are, IMHO, as good as the originals. He offers to give you a free sample (to hook you. Like any good drug dealer would). He knows that you will be back, because the quality of his stuff is top rate. Each pill is individually sealed in a foil backed strip, similar to how you would receive sudafed or benadryl capsules/tablets. Clean, potent, quality products at the right price!

He always advertises in La Prensa, and maybe some of the other papers. I had not seen his ad. For several day, but then saw it again last weekend. Look in the Health or "Salud" type sections of the classified ads.
